Overweight & Late: Russia's MC-21 Expected To Be 6 Tons Heavier
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- In an alternative reality, with a massive production backlog and Boeing in crisis, now could have been a great time for Russia's domestic airliners to capture some of Airbus and Boeing's short-haul markets. But this is not another reality, and for over two years, Russia's domestic airliner production has been at a complete standstill. It is now estimated that when Russia's Yakovlev MC-21 finally enters service, it will be almost 6 tons heavier - with a shorter range and a lower capacity than planned.

MC-21-300's maximum take-off weight is 79,250 kg, compared to A320's maximum take-off weight of 78,000 kg. However, it can carry more payload of 22,600 kg, compared to A320's 19,900 kg. The MC-21-300 can carry 181 passengers, compared to the A320's 140 passengers. This means the engine of MC-21 has more fuel economy than that of the A320's. So, this video is full of lies.
You are full of russian propaganda
Yeah i know right but im surprised many people actually believe what Simple flight is talking about.
half of the information is from Wikipedia. the takeoff weight of the MS-21 was increased to 85,000 kg. it is not entirely correct to compare the MS-21 with the A320, in terms of capacity, fuel consumption and takeoff weight it is more suitable for the Boeing 737-900er. now the aircraft is made entirely of Russian parts. the wings and engines are already ready, but due to different parts the characteristics may change, and those characteristics that are in Wikipedia are the characteristics of a semi-foreign airliner
Exactly what I was going to say.
Western media is so full of lies concerning Russia nobody should believe they say about that country.
Propaganda barat... Mereka takut mc21 mengalahkan Boeing dan airbus yang penuh dengan kelicikan
“Our Soviet transistor radios are largest in the world!”
"Soviet watches are much better than the Swiss ones: cheaper and much faster".
Reminds me of the time the Soviets announced that they'd built the world's largest microchip.
Rather fly this plane than Boeing 737 MAX
_Overweight & Late_ will be the name of my memoirs!
Sounds like the kind of girl you don't want to date
that's significantly less range than most of embraer's e series, for reference
There is so much false information in this video I have no idea where to start.
At least the MC-21's cockpit windows are big
And also safer than Boeing 😂
What goes around, comes around.
6 tons heavier !! OMG !!
That's like 60-100 pax right?
12,000 lbs
That's like 10 standard size Americans...
6 tons of excess would not be enough to write 20 tons at once, such a lie would be brighter, where did such information come from, they also said about vaccines from China and Russia that they were bad. Then it turned out that they were lying, they themselves admitted it doesn’t matter how many people died without them.
Nah he is lying coz he is jealous
Not like any airline is gonna buy it anyways 😂
Yes they are in too deep with the other manufacturers and number 2 those other planes especially Airbus provides to many competitive edges and support systems to consider buying that plane.
i think russian airlines might buy it. considering the sanctions make it difficult for them to get better planes
I think Russian Airlines like Aeroflot may have to because they may not have any other choice other then the C919 because of sanctions from the west.
russkys need like 500 new planes by the mid 30-s
. Cuba
. Iran
. North Korea
. China
. Every 3rd world country which isn't a dictatorship backed by Europe and the US
Maybe they can refurbish the Tu-134 and 154, and Ill -62 😁😁 Only for Russian airspace ofcourse!!
train is slow but safe

Regardless of sanctions, with the PW1000G, it would probably been grounded anyway,
Yes agreed. Sometimes all it takes is one major part, and it renders the whole thing useless and that’s the pw1000G. Everybody knows how to work with and fix that engine to perfection. That’s savings right there. So without that that plane is ground. They didn’t need to take away 40% of the parts. But just thst
LOL Delusional brainwashed western people. Wake up
I must check everything myself coz i don't trust 100 % everything
I worked on the pratt and whitney nacelle😢
MC-21's market performance might be quite terrible because of Russian Invasion of Ukraine.
Wont all Russian have to buy this plane eventually because of sanctions
I think they would have bought it anyway even without the invasion because no import duties
not only that but it has no winglets
@@canadian_aviation Due to the largest wing aspect ratio in this class of aircraft, there was not enough space for the winglets.
@@НиколайЗинин-п1х raked wingtips exist
Nice coverage
Russia 🤣
What Russian made engine could replace the PW1000G engine? Russification in the name do not mean it will work in the real life, 40% of western components could not be replaced by local ones, perhaps yes momentarily in form and function but not in airworthiness and reliability. This project seems to be doomed.
The Aviadvigatel PD-14 was also developed to power the MC-21
All manufacturers out source to save money. But I guess they messed up by doing that. Now they put them in the choke hold for it.
Perhaps Lada could build some engines
@@gerryattrickbiker 😂
who needs engines when you can use thermal updrafts?
I am not specialist but this video seems biased. Russia was building airplanes for a long time and with good performance. Have they suddenly forgoten how they can make them again? Propably not so nice, noisier ,with not so good consumption . But for strategic reasons they will build them. And they have a big country to serve. The same with China. So the future for airbus and boing will be not easy.
no winglets in 2024 is crazy ☠🙏
So the 777 and 787 are crazy then are they?
its more about the wing design then the winglets
@@davidkavanagh189 The 777 & 787 have raked wingtips, not the MC-21.
on MS 21 the wing is extended, which also saves fuel. with opening, the wing extension saves fuel (by the way, this is done on the Boeing 787)
@@Afghanistan_123 But you need to balance with the increased weight due to the structural reinforcement to allow the high wingflex.
With Russia unable to produce ball bearings for their rail wagons I don't think they can produce this plane.
Way too many western components would have to be parallel imported.
Since the beginning of 2023, the shortage of cassette bearings and components for them has actually been leveled: suppliers from friendly countries have been admitted and projects have been implemented to localize production in Russia. This had a positive effect on the volume of repairs of cars with an axle load of 25 tf and on the production of new cars.
This is why BRICs is nothing to worry about
Yes they gotta obey sanctions to. They are something but they gotta obey sanctions to. They revolt from time to time but they gotta obey sanctions.
on the other hand BRICKS are
Musk was laughing on BYD just few years ago ,he dont laugh now
@@dzonikg LOL…. Now everyone is laughing.
Don't worry, stay arrogant otherwise you might react and improve.
Thank you very much for this report.
The Russian production and development of passanger aircrafts has never had smooth continuity. In other words, their models always trail western solutions and ideas, but even when they introduce foreign designs into actual production they cannot, somehow, carry on with the cooperation or with bettering the acquired technology.
The westerners will never understand Russians' state of mind, and you should never present any Russian technology without investigating their state of mind. When in the west the better product is sought after, in Russia the Russian product is better, irrespectively of its performance, economy, comfort etc. Especially now, when Russia runs a war economy and Soviet-style propaganda rules the airwaves and satellites.
I believe your report 100%. The final Yakovlev MC-21 will be heavier, less economical, shorter in range, less comfortable and louder than the initial specifications state. It's a propaganda airplane, like Tu-144. Russian airlines order that plane because they are forced to do so by politburo and not by their spending-gain sheets. Those airlines will be heavily supported by government anyway, as long as they promote Russians airplanes.
You will never then acquire the actual performance or sales data on that aircraft.
I think Russia will overcome those hardships
Of course they will ... In 2064.
Lol 😂
@@chiad25 they will .. eventually
This is russophobia channel paid to spew propaganda. Loser.
why doesnt it have winglets?
Because they don't have any homemade winglet designs.
Maybe there is no Russian word for that.
Because KFC chicken winglets are no longer available due to sanctions. 😂
Because of weight problems! 😁😁
@@Yassified3425 idk what this is supposed to mean but the SSJ 100 has winglets and the Tu-204 and the Il-96 have them, too.
1:40 thats not true. they certified the MC21 to have both russian and western engines. the idea was to sell on the foreign market and saw that some foreign carriers would prefer western engines. there was always going to be a PD18 version from the outset. if batch 1 really are 6 tons heavier - then thats 6 tons of optimisations to come. airbus do it all the time. what russia needs is numbers. 6 tons heavier or not - they need 100s of them asap. really they should be focused on upgrades for the tu214. that is mostly russian anyway. some new engines and better wings would improve things greatly and its also in production. for reasons i dont understand - russia is putting lots of money into the 4 engine il-96 from the 1980s.
of course all production has ceased...al the factory workers are in the army now...mostly dead....
Author needs to stop eating sour grapes
Airbus A320 Neo series 👌
What is up with the narration again?!
- YAKOVLEV MC21
- M21
etc…
They are paid channel to spew anti-russia video. Useless British.
A321 from wish
How many of those wheelbarrows were ordered by other than russian airlines? And I'm talking about civilized world, not third world.
Interesting.
probably won't be that bad . at least in the long term
Even if it gets certified, production rate will be like 10 per year or so, nothing relevant. Most likely they will go the way of Iran, acquire some planes on the second hand market, Turkey comes to mind, or get some C919 from China.
How do you know that?
White elephant
The range is not marketable. Dead on Arrival !!!
Not looking good
Oh, 😟 no. Why?😞
Its kinda funny were u get the info off the Russian plane. But a couldnt find ANYTHING related to Russian sources, not even an article from Rostec itself so were i can read about it. So theres to options here. Or u lying Or ur speculating about it becose off sanctions
"Still better than the MAX" 🤓
Yes, you are right, because the MC-21 doesn't fly! So nothing can happen! 😁😂🤣
Haha
@@arienoordzij3823haha I am weak
@@arienoordzij3823 yes that is why i only fly mc-21 today (i don't fly today)
Who would want to fly in this heap????
Still better than Boeing

Well, Kommersant can have assumptions, yes, everyone can have assumptions. But these are just versions and guesses, why are you, like a flock of sheep, starting to perceive this not as guesses, but as the truth?
If only Airbus could put the MC-21's nose on the future aircraft of the Airbus A320 family.
No!
for me it is the other way around
I think it’s dead product with the reduced specs.they may have to weigh everyone now to reduce the weight.😮
Seems like they cant succeed anymore 😔
who said that?
Crippling sanctions LMAO 😂😂😂
Yeah, in this case they are. This product is dead. Countries that can't or don't want Western planes will buy Chinese, even through Russia has more experience building airlines.
@@Hhutuber Russia will eventuality replaces missing component with Chines ,Russia was totaly lazy from 1991-2022 ,they had huge export from fossil fuel so they just import everything and forgot to build stuff ,and old engineers died or are are retired now
Oh welll... lmao 😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
hello🥶
Back to the ussr😅
Let’s hope never!
Who cares?
They even stole the livery from Airbus 🤣
waw
Fake news

Да
😂
This news seems to air false information. Even old model Tu214 can fly longer than this news quoted, why MC21 that is the newest tech model, couldn't do.
