I had somewhat the same quandary a few years ago when I wanted to combine the LAB2V and then the SOCALBDR right after. The 2 are vastly different in that if something happened on the BDR you are left to your own resources 100%. I carry an inReach always but still it might be days before someone came across my body out there if I was knocked out, right? On the LAB2V everyone who passes asks if you are ok? EVERYONE! Failing that, there's a sweep that happens and they will not / do not leave anyone out on the course. I wrote about that exact thing aufroad.com/what-if-a-bdr-thought/. If you do ride next year, I'm always happy to guide you through everything. I'll be doing all the hard routes again but you don't have to ride with me. Just find someone you're speed compatible with and ride next to them - it happens all the time. When we did Red Rock on Day 2 we had a guy tag along on a DRZ and mirror us. It's all good!
