- My builder set a huge goal of completing the long list of things to finish by the end of the week. It has been a week full of laughter, tears, music and a lot of hard work. The last two days were bonkers with seven men on site. All I am going to say is that I am impressed - BUT did we finish?! Watch the video to find out, it's a good one!

Hello Suzie, how about mid grey bathroom cabinet doors - as there is grey in the marble wall ties, combine it with white, beige or grey towels.
I'd keep some of those large stones that are outside in tha big pile, you could make some things with those, a fire pit, base for a barberque or low planter for cooking herbs by the back door.
You must be sooo excited to have it nearly done...next week you will be able to sleep in your new bed....and cook a meal at HOME....and relax on your sofa.

Stunningly beautiful stone walls, which goes so well with the painted white walls. I’m not a fan of the two tone kitchen green colour and would just paint the surrounds the same colour as the doors, as the two greens don’t blend together. Perhaps repaint the whole kitchen again with the one colour green, then it would be perfect! Love your chandeliers, especially the leaf one! 😍

Great everything is coming together.
We have had our place in Portugal for 10 years , l am afraid l have a love hate relationship with wood burners. The heat it generates is great , and has a lovely glow on cold winter nights . The daily supply of ash is great for the garden , the carbon helps the plants .But it also has a down side and it’s soot that gets everywhere. Opening the door to the wood burner allows smoke into the room.Any ledges, stone work ,furniture , it settles ever day. Some woods are better to burn than others.
Invest in a good vacuum cleaner with good attachments.

Thank you Margaret for the comment about the wood burner. It’s just for three or four months of the year and I do love them. I think Eucalyptus is a good wood to burn 🙏💕

Hi, our place has just over 5,000 sq mts of land . We have quite a collection of different trees but no eucalyptus on our land.
We do harvest our own supply of timber for fire wood but leave it to dry out for 18/24 months before it’s ready for burning. The wood burner we have is a 10klw output. It is in the lounge with a dinning room area , the glass dinning table suffers a layer of black soot every morning, three months of only being used in the evening takes it toll. My suite is light coloured and l did invest in a protective solution that means it can be wiped clean with a damp soapy water cloth . But the vac makes a lot of difference. Don’t underestimate the extra work you need to do.
Heat from the fire will keep your main room warm , but your bedroom and bathroom will not feel it’s benefit.
Give yourself a good covered storage building for your wood supply, that will not catch fire in the summer fire season. Prepare for winter now, always try to be a season or two ahead .
Ps don’t forget your leaky roof tiles.

Oh my you are so close to the finish and it looks fabulous. Personally I'd go with green in the bathroom, cos I do green everywhere. But also I think the white walls are a nice contrast with the stone, and if its too big an expanse of white for you, a couple of paintings hanging will break it up.

Amazing progress! I love your builders! Their work has been so great. I especially love your stone walls. So beautiful. That leaf chandelier is gorgeous! Too much sparkle in your room? 🤔 nah! ✨
I would be scared to shower in there just because of the painted wall and lime wall but the builders know best about what works. MDF does suck in more paint as it’s more porous. Basically like thick cardboard. This is why you need a really good primer to seal the paint. If you do another coat of paint that should help even out the color. I actually love the darker green on the base cabinet. It looks a little more blue on camera. But both greens are nice. I actually loved the beige color of the lime before paint since it matched so well with the stone. But the white is nice too. I think I would keep it light. Helps keep the light and airy feel. My advice is to keep the stones and have the builders place them in your garden across the way. You can definitely use them around your property. I can see you using in small retaining walls, maybe a fire pit and seating area or something cool like that.❤

Thank you so much for all this great information. I like the bare wall but unfortunately it had very uneven tones which made it look dirty. In hindsight in the living room I should have kept it as a stone wall. We are putting a sealant on the two walls in the shower to protect the walls and I am definitely keeping the rocks. Like you say useful for so many things in the garden. I will start making a design plan soon 😀💕

Make sure the top of the chimney is higher than the ridge cap. It stops the wind coming down the roof and blowing back down the chimney. By the way the house is lovely.

Wow! Almost done! So they just have to grout the floor and apply sealer to the walls in the bath left to do? Then the outside clean up. The house is lovely. Just an idea, you could keep some of the big stones that you have outside and use them to make like a bench, or stack them and put some pots in some strategic spots in the backyard. It would look amazing 😊
