The ten-year-old me thought Commander Jones was mad at Mr. Smith out of concern for his captured soldiers. After replaying this game again 15 years later, I found out the truth and realized that Mr. Smith suffers from Punisher's Syndrome.

Its also worth pointing out that whenever the hero without the pants kills someone, they "crumble" as they die. Could you imagine of what would happen if Capcom remade this game to the very point where they where still on a number of serious drugs, what would you do?

I played this as a kid and was shocked with the twist at the end...your commanding officer was dealing in drugs the whole time and sent you on those missions so you could get killed. Very well done.
I love this game so much, I cannot recall if I beat my brother w/o the help of a Game Genie. I distinctly remember now the sound effects used for the voice line 'THANK YOU' when rescuing a hostage, it was a priceless and fantastic use of the available sound library. How I forgot about it for 30 years is beyond me.
Rental for me, but I do distinctly remember my mom watching me play it and commenting on his lack of pants. That was her one concern. Not gunning down hundreds of men. Just no pants.
STELLAR game that outclasses Rolling Thunder, which I already loved, in every way. In fact, it's so much better than Rolling Thunder that the latter's simplicity keeps it from being completely replaced. As a kid who fully understood why you could shoot up in Contra and not in Mega Man, I was always very taken with games that were limited and played by a very specific set of rules and Viper is definitely that.

I know sprites on the NES have a 3 color limit but they seriously should have reversed the colors on his pants. Even back then, how could they not think it looked like he was running around bottomless?
I felt like I was the only person that played this as a kid cuz everyone I talked about the game to just looked at me weird lol. I remember struggling on the last boss for months and not even being able to clear the first stage on hard cuz the bullet speed was ridiculous.
Huh? I remember the final boss taking a LOT more than 6 bullets to kill. He took so many, that it seemed impossible to kill him with the pistol before he advanced all the way to the left and killed you.
Pretty gritty for an NES game, what with how guys literally disintegrate when you shoot them. And you can find some 8-bit babes behind the rotating secret passages, but occasionally you can find...skeletons? Corpses that just collapse when you find them, implying that Mr. Smith was...too late. In any case, this seems to be another one of those anti-drug stories that permeated children's entertainment media at the time. I love it! This game is awesome, and with that kickin' soundtrack to boot!
Trust me my first try I didn’t know it took so many bullets to kill one person or different colored soldierst more far I get on this game. I died at some point. I just quit again and I get back into it Sometimes the passwords help when it comes to Commander Jones make sure you have enough bullets of assault rifle just dodge duck two bullets and keep holding the button I do like the ending music
Who's bright idea was it to make the protagonist's pants the exact same colour as his skin and how on earth did that get passed the censors?🤨 Did nobody dare to say, "Perhaps we should change the colour of the guy's pants so it doesn't it look like he's half naked"?

I suspect someone at Capcom colored his pants to be the color of his skin which gives reason to state the animator was on some serious drugs when animating Kenny Smith but when we look at the cut screens, his pants looks properly colored, which indicates that someone else animated the cut screens. And when it comes to the music of the game, its very out of place as it doesn't represent the "special commando" theme fighting in the jungles of South America but instead represent lewd music, especially once you reach to stages 4 as seen in 19:56 and stage 5 as seen in 25:32 respectfully. To simply put, this game beats the Ring King scandal, I can safely say that some of the people back at Capcom where on something during the creation of Code Name: Viper, heak I would be amazed if they actually admit to similar. Had to do an edit in the case of the 3rd cut screen in question where it shows Kenny Smith with properly colored pants.

地震か何かで駅のトイレが使えなくなったのか、駅前みたいなところになぜか男女共用トイレが設置され、わたしはひたすら若くてきれいな女性の真後ろばかりに並んでいました。
並んでいる時は髪や服のいい匂いを楽しみました。
若い女性のトイレの後に入ろうとしていることを蔑んだ目で見られたり、誰か正義感のあるお兄さんに引きずり出されるのではないかと怯えたりしつつも、必死でその場所を死守し、ついに前のお姉さんがトイレに入り、しばらくしてドアが開いた瞬間にトイレのドアをがっちりつかみ、まだお姉さんの体が半分ある状態でトイレの中の匂いを嗅ぎました。
簡易の設置トイレでしたので、お姉さんの残り香よりも、色んな人のおしっこのアンモニア臭の方がきつかったですが、
それでもお姉さんがあきれたような、でも恥ずかしそうな顔を楽しめたので、大満足。
わたしは男の娘ですので、本来はそういうことをされて興奮するはずなのですが、昨日はなぜか男(漢)になっていましたね。
そもそも、こんな夢を見たのは、日中、婦警さんが現場で下着を汚されたか何かで、
コンビニの下着売り場に入ってこられたのですが、
その婦警さんの上司の方に、

それで興奮してしまったせいかもはしれません。
