i was one of the camera operators (back of the room angle) for this performance. tuneyards and joy formidable were also on the bill. was definitely a very interesting afternoon of music.
When he plays live, he sometimes says before playing one of the larger, tougher pieces (cant recall the name of the piece), that depending on the day, the playing sometimes take it totally out of him, and if he's able to continue he'll play one more song, if not, he'll end the show. sometimes he ends the show, other times he plays one more as promised. he really pushes the horizon, and you can hear it in the music, it's always on the edge of exploding and yet it doesn't. seen the dude live 3 times now, every time a total mind exploding experience.
It’s a talent like this that makes this atheist wish like hell there’s and afterlife so Coltrane can appreciate what this man has done with these instruments. Beautiful!
One of the most interesting pieces of music I've ever heard...frightens to your bone marrow...

jesus! min 13:52 after "intro"...... speechless, this guy is a god damn rockstar if ive ever seen one.
his technique invloves circular breathing, which is how he can hold out notes for so long.
he also practically screams while playing.
His album with Sarah Neufeld is absolutely beautiful and absolutely terrifying. Amazing artist.
Chris Bell?!? You're alive and on UA-cam commenting????
Haha j.k. Big Star is one of my faves. Thanks to Paul Westerberg for making me look into them.
How does he not fall over and die?

Less talk more rock! I like your style.
I hope they upload a video of the music one day. That would be really neat.
"...the bass clarinet..."
If I could I would marry him, the talent is just... but my wife would not be too happy.
comments on Colin Stetson videos are always hilarious and awesome except this one.

You can and should ignore the first 9 or so minutes of this video. Way too much chatter by NPR staff.

Yeah I got lucky and skipped to about the right point after 3 min of yacckady yak.
This sounds like a commentary for a parade. I'm totally pissed that Santa wasn't a part of this :(
How big is his lungs?!
too much mumbo jumbo the actual concert starts at 11:00
