Hey Paul, I have met Jethro a couple of times at his comedy club. But mostly whilst out driving my work van, I would often see him on the dual carriageway in his rolls-Royce. So I would drive up beside him and challenge him to a drag race, needless to say he was always up for it, and he would start the count down 3,2,1 go, he would then floor it off into the distance, he always won the race, and I would laugh all the way home, bless him.
My wife & I went to see Jethro in the 90's in the White Rock Theatre in Hastings. Absolutely brilliant, we came out of there aching from the laughter. After the show we made our way out and to the side of the theatre where Jethro was loading up his trailer with his PA kit, he was pulling it with a range rover. We had a quick chat to him, he asked us if we had enjoyed the show, which of course we did. Wonderful night, great memories and it was back in the days when you could tell jokes without fear of someone taking the hump.
old jethro was in are pub come hotel in the 70es,the four burrows in grand pound road cornwall, he used to wear as part of his act, asheepers smoke straw hat blue flannels kept up with string and wellingtons turned down, and gutter, one day mum said she wanted to sack him, becourse he was not good on the gutter, but told her on wednesday and sunday he filled the pub, with out him it bloody empty, and of if you do,she gave ,me and michael from the china clay mines, used to love him to death, after his act part of which, was calling me fucking emit,,he would go to the pool room for aquete drink,i would say to him do you want a drink jethro,he always no i am fine mick,he was a very nice man and deserved all the happy times he got ,god bless him,
Seen him twice and he was a proper comedian and brought so much laughter to is fans,as soon as he walked on the Stage you were laughing, absolutely a pure legend and never be forgotten.
Jethro was cornish through and through....loved his style of performance...that laid back like telling a joke amongst friends in a pub lol ..the comedy circuit miss him like his public does...beautiful final resting place in a peaceful tranquil setting..thanks again Paul for bringing it to us.....
Hello Paul, I saw Jethro in Gloucester some years ago. I was with friends from work and our boss was on the row behind us. Jethro was fantastic, my ribs hurt from laughing when we came out.
I went to see Jethro in Worcester in the 90's. Fantastic show. When it finished there was a mad rush to the door so I just sat there until the rush was over. He appeared in front of the stage and a handful of folk went to have a chat. I joined them. Pint in hand, he spoke to all of us in turn, telling jokes and asking us about ourselves as well as answering questions about him. A nicer, more genuine, guy you could never meet. He was in Malvern years later and a friend went to see him. I told him to hang back and he might appear. Sure enough he did and my friend was so chuffed to meet him and chat, just as I had done. He was just as impressed with his unassuming attitude as I. RIP Jethro. You will live on in all of us that saw you live or on the screen.
Saw Jethro many times and met him too on 2 occasions. Such a lovely man - no airs or graces, just a down to earth honest man. A brilliant comedian and the likes of him will never be seen again. A huge loss to the entertainment world. R.I.P Jethro, thank you for everything.
I love the beautiful churches you visit. The architecture & the history that goes with them is wonderful. It warms my heart to see they are still being used.
Hi Paul,I saw Jethro at my local theatre in Newark Notts,I was literally crying with laughter,he delivered his jokes with a little story & it was absolute perfection, thanks for this video & all the best,Colin P.👍
We saw him some years ago at the Swan theatre High Wycombe, if I remember correctly. Commuted over from Hertfordshire. Well worth the trip. Laughed so much and carried on when going home. Brilliant show. So sad when he left us. 1000 times better than most modern comedians.
What happen was, I saw Jethro in the Derogate Theatre Northampton some years ago. I was introduced to Jethro by the owner of a helicopter company I use to worked for, he lent me a tape Jethro had produced. I listened to it in the car on the way home, I damn well nearly crashed several times as I was laughing so much and had tears in my eyes. RIP Jethro "I come home from the pub pissed as a matress...".
A good few years ago I saw Jethro at his club, the ticket price included bangers and mash…….lovely. Although niche, he was, and in many minds, always will be a comedy legend and a genuine true gentleman. Rest in peace, and in many hearts.
I found Jethro on UA-cam around 18 months ago, he's very very funny guy , I've had alot of time in Cornwall and Devon, and love his Cornwall demeanour accent etc ,😂 😀 😅 ❤❤ RIP 🙏 JETHRO thanks for all the laughs 😃, also thanks for this video and cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 👍 😀 ❤❤😊
I was a fellow entertainer and worked with Jethro at his club as part of a Comedy double act in Lewdown for his Sky tv show, he was a true gentleman and had time for everyone, he may have passed but he will always be remembered xxxx
Didn't know much about this comedian but I do now. I can say though he was very funny and my kind of naughty humour, right up my street! Thanks for this video Paul. R.I.P Jethro. X😊
Never saw him live, but was in hysterics the first time I saw one of his DVDs and loved him ever after. Good to see his last resting place, God bless him. Thanks, Paul x
HI Paul, before moving to Bude I use to live in Tavistock Devon as my parents lived in Lifton , Jethro's place was literally a stone throw away but you could only go to his place is you wasn't afraid of criticism, his shows were brilliant and one that needed a few drinks( well cornish like there drink lol) his shows never disappointed a good time out, R.I.P. Jethro and thank you Paul for letting him be remembered. Lots have happened since covid and I forgot those memories of good times. Thank you 😊
Some years ago, by chance a comedian was performing in a local theatre and I spontaneously wandered in to find myself watching Jethro. Such a character, master of old school edgy humour and a glowing stage presence. He made an impression on me and I was saddened to hear of his death during the pandemic. Taken too soon 🌹
Seen him live in princess theatre torquay probly 20 years ago, i was doubled over, and stomach was hurting so much at laughing at his jokes. Great great comedian
Jethro was simply a brilliant comedian. Often told smutty, leud jokes but had that lovely unassuming way of delivering them that there was little chance that anyone would be offended. Proper laugh out loud stuff. God rest his soul. 🙏
Jethro holds a special place in my heart. My nanny grew up with him and they spent a lot of time together as our families knew each other. Whenever I hear his voice it's like listening to all of the family who have long gone. She was cornish through and through ❤️
I'm Cornish, so Jethro was huge in our house. Saw him perform at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth in the early '80s. It was a tough crowd, as a lot of the audience were from "up country" and he wasn't well known to them. However, within a few gags he had everyone howling. R.I.P. Jethro. Proper job.
You said it yourself Paul, what an amazing man. Just looking at him walking on stage I knew I was going to be laughing. Some of his funniest jokes for me were the simplest ones. Thank you for this one Paul
Thank you, Paul watching on catch up sorry what a beautiful headstone. It’s so simple but so beautiful. I didn’t know he died. He was a very funny man. Thank you again.
Absolutely superb comedian and a genuine man, my father loved watching him perform and a long lasting memory I have is taking my dad to the Hexagon in Reading to watch Jethro just b4 Covid hit…we bumped in to him b4 the show and had a great few minutes of conversation with him plus photos of dad and Jethro together….sadly both are now no longer with us
Thanks Paul for this video beautiful Church and grave yard 🙏 it's so interesting all the lovely places you bring us thanks Paul for all your hard work ❤ Marie Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks for the clip - most enjoyable and well put across,.// Never seen his live act but I have a couple of VHS tapes where he also does short sketches together with a supporting actor,..
Saw Jethro at the BIC theatre in 2003, had the pleasure of meeting him after the show. A lovely humble but seriously funny man, a great storyteller. Thanks for doing this Paul, great video. 👍
We went to Jethro’s club in Lewdown and stayed at Lewtrenchard Manor. Once all the coaches left we ended up staying at the bar till gone 2am with Jethro behind the bar. Lovely man and brilliant nights. Never forget those nights.
Great vid, thanks for uploading. Saw Jethro live in my home town of Basingstoke in the early 90s. First thing he said when he hit the stage was Anyone from Cornwall here tonight? I hope so as I need a lift back to Cornwall. Just brilliant. Keep up the good work.
I like the way it said treasured by his sons on the tombstone. Obviously loved by his family. I also liked the little play area in the church, shows they welcome little ones, possibly a local playgroup.
Thanks for this. I always wondered what was on his headstone. He said throughout his life he was always dieting and said on his headstone it'll be engraved "slim at last"! Top man RIP
Jethro was so funny and I seen him live . My Uncle John was his manager so also seen him personally. The open scanner that he raised money for was for a scanner in Bristol .
Great video, saw Jethro quite a few times, in the 1980's and 90's, when my family and I with another family, were on a camp site at Trewan Hall, on the outskirts of St. Columb Major, and we all went tosee him every year, for 5 years, when he was singing and telling clean jokes, I even have 5 music cassette tapes, that he signed, which I have transferred to CD. great to see his resting place, see you in your next Utube posting.
He once picked me up hitch hiking and put me up on his restaurant floor. That evening, he had been an after dinner speaker for the Queen. She apparently had seen him on the Des O Connor show. That is what he told me. He also told me a joke about the last hitch hiker he'd picked up.
My wife's grandad had his dvds and we were all over his so often watching them and laughing till your sides hurt He was 1 of the greatest and will be sorely missed RIP Jethro
ive meet jethro in 2018 i think it was he did a few shows in my home town of llanelli carmarthenshire hes a lovely man im glad ive got a pic with him and he signed my ticket which he dont normally do i was lucky miss him loads r,i,p jethro

a great loss to comedy, but, are we allowed to laugh in these woke times?
@colinmould2219 Definitely not!
A comedian can't be a comedian anymore and the comedian's today are all shite!
My dad loved Jethro and saw him twice. When my dad passed i kept one of his dvds in memory of my dad and Jethro 😊
