My favorite Red Ranger (besides Jason) is Jack Landors. It was amazing to see a man originally unsuited to being a leader, but being a great fighter, realize the responsibility behind the role and as a result he transforms into the leader the SPD team needed. He grew into the type of Red Ranger that knew when to take action himself (like when he fought Sinuku) or when to step back and let another member of his team handle things (the most famous example being passing his morpher to Sky so that Sky could confront his father’s killer in his father’s colors). And in the end, while he chose to retire from being a Power Ranger after defeating the Troobian Empire, he never forgot the lessons he learned as the Red Ranger and chose to help the people on the streets (what he always tried to do from day one) the RIGHT way. All in all, it was cool seeing a man transition to an unsuitable leader to a true friend, considerate leader, and an inspiration to the SPD team.
FACTS MY BROTHA
Honestly if you think about it the in space team was still led by TJ and Andros kind of learned is how to lead that team by watching and learning from TJ
Agreed. In a lot of ways, it felt like while Andros may have been the captain of the Megaship, TJ was still the leader of the team
Yo, you are right, TJ was still leading the Team it's because of him that they start to push back the Psycho Rangers
I really wish we got Andros and TJ butting heads more? That’d have been really cool to see with TJ being the leader but not the Red Ranger anymore?
There's definitely a sense of co-leadership there. Like the episode where Ashley and Cassie are fighting. It's TJ that has the leader role of cooling the team and bringing things back together.
To be fair, it makes a lot of sense that Andros would have to share the leadership role with TJ. TJ proved to be a capable Red Ranger with terrible luck on Earth, and he already had the trust of the former Turbo team, whereas Andros still had to get used to them. Andros eventually became the true leader, sure… but for a while TJ had to act as co leader and in universe that makes perfect sense.
Another great Red Ranger was Leo Corbet from Lost Galaxy his whole journey being the reluctant Red Ranger to being one of the most famous Red Rangers is such a compelling story and he always charged head on into battle and was willing to sacrifice himself to kill Trakena in the finale of Lost Galaxy.
Jason Lee Scott made a great Red Ranger and is still the GOAT of all the reds
Welcome back Sixth Ranger! Glad to see you back in action!

@@the6thranger WHERE WERE YOU?! PLAYING BATMAN ARKHAM SHADOW?!
What you said about leaders building their teammates up, that’s what really stood out to me when Amelia became the Red Ranger in Cosmic Fury. She cared about her teammates & built them up in dire situations & believed in them when they didn’t believe in themselves
Exactly, even when Amelia was the pink ranger in Dino Fury she still led the team as a second-in-command to Zayto.
She's definitely in the top 15 list of great Red rangers.
Glad to see you're posting again. Tommy will always be the Goat ranger. My personal favorite Red Rangers were Carter, Wes, Tommy, and Jack.
I had genuinely thought that this channel had died. It's good to see that it's still around. Awesome video!
Thanks!
The red space ranger had the difficult task of killing Zordon in the Space finale
No mention of Carter from Lightspeed Rescue? One of the best Red Rangers of all time in my opinion.
One of the few that matches Jason in terms of pure leadership
Carter Grayson is for me the third best ranger after Jason and Tommy.
@@YanisTerzi Can't say the same, but I can't argue against it. Like, I can't make an argument that proves you wrong on that one
Carter is the the John maclane/ Martin riggs of the power rangers universe shoot first ask stuff later 🤣
@imherestillhere2166 i understand it. It’s because I a great fan of Lightspeed Rescue. Carter is a great leader and try everything to stop the treat and keep it down. He is by the book. He learned from his mistakes and not doing anything wrong after.
I was born the year power rangers first aired my brother (6 years older) got me into it and its because of this series why reds my favorite color
YES! please make videos on what it means to be a specific ranger color 👍🏼
Bro Everytime a subscribers I follow takes a prolonged break I forget I'm subbed to them until I get a notification for a new video. Glad your back
Thank you! Trying to be more regular now
Jason is everything a red ranger is expected to be. Actually, I’d even say it worked the other way and Jason DEFINED everything a red ranger is expected to be.
All other red rangers either have his skills but with flaws that he doesn’t have, either grow up during their season to become more like him. Even Tommy is basically like Jason but with some insecurities due to his past as Rita’s puppet.
There is however a red ranger that is sort of an abnormality in that scheme. I am talking about Andros. Sure, he acquires his skills as a teamworker and a teamleader during the season making him sort of coming into the category of those who grow up to become like Jason. There is main difference though : Andros also has many skills that Jason does not have and that are actually not expected from a red ranger.
Andros is the only red ranger to be also the nerd of the team, with the scientific skills. He also has huge knowledge about the entire universe. He is used to collect informations and track down threats everywhere. In his season, he assumed not only a position of leader but also a position of mentor due to his teammates still being newbies who knew little about being rangers and nothing about travelling in space. Sometimes, Andros looks more like Billy or even Zordon than Jason. (A good example is in episode 14, when he recognizes the sting and knows where the antidote is. That’s typically the kind of things Zordon would’ve done if the episode was in Mignty Morphin or Zeo.)
Also, on the opposite to Jason and Tommy who periodically leave and come back, Andros seems to have dedicated his entire life to being a power ranger. There no indication that he thought to retire at some point. That’s even the opposite as we saw him tracking down the psycho rangers and later Venjix. He is probably also the one who asked to Karone to search for Kendrix’s saber (Someone necessarily informed Karone about Kendrix’s death and her saber’s disappearance. And Andros was there when Kendrix died.)
Even in Forever Red, Andros is the one who discovers the threat and gets Tommy out of his retirement (confirmed in the cut scene). The staging forcibly tries to make Tommy look like the new Zordon but I always felt like the new Zordon was actually Andros.
All of that are the reasons why Andros is not only my favorite red ranger but also my favorite character in the entire Power Rangers franchise. (His sister is second.)
I would love to see you do this type of video for other ranger colors
A good red ranger is an amazing leader. And an amazing leader knows when to lead and when to follow. In my opinion few got this correct including Jason, TJ, Andros and Carter
Good to have you back, brother. Hope you and yours are doing well and having a great new year.
Color theory is so interesting. Someone decided Red = leader and it just became logic for many. But then White was also a leader, and Pink, and so on. For anyone conflating Red Rangers with leadership, it doesn't track with reality. Heck, Billy as Blue has been leader at times. It's all relative and situational.
That's not true. The only time a red ranger hasn't been the designated leader of a ranger team is when zordon demoted Jason to second in command when Tommy became the white ranger.
Even in super sentsu the red ranger is the leader
Anyone can be a leader.
There are different styles of leadership.
The best organisations have leaders in every aspect.
Most issues lie in when leaders can’t follow.
@@DVine13
That's not the point .
Im The lore of power rangers/super sentai there's a chain of command
If you are the red ranger.....you are the leader of the team
@@madddoggnogood1491 You forgot White Ailen Ranger and Jen Scott who was the Pink Timeforce Ranger There are more non-Red leaders in Sentai. The Big One, a White, took over leadership in JAKQ which was the second season, Ninja White in Kakuranger, Mega Black in Megaranger, TimePink in Timeranger, GikiYellow in Gekiranger, Kenkaizer from Zenkaiger was a White, and more if you count secondary teams leaders like Black Lion from Gekirenger.
@@etherealdragon207
That's only 3. In the American adaptation.
Traditionally the red ranger is the leader.
Thank you for posting the video.
You're welcome ☺️
I agree space is the best but zeos my favorite aesthetic
They never really explained why Andros had four other morphers on hand. What happened to his previous team mates?
It's highly likely they were made by KO-35 military.
That's a great point I never thought of. Only because I grew up thinking that there was probably other rangers that were already defeated. But then again they would have been mentioned like Zane was
Thanks for the amazing video ❤️
🙏⚡️
Would definitely like to see this series continue. I know that the TTRPG characterises red as leaders - but it also shoeboxes blue as scientifically minded which I don't think holds true across all the seasons.
Glad to see you posting again!
The few times rocky got to lead he showed these qualities
Jason was the BEST Leader and Red Ranger so far.
Tommy, Andros, Leo, Carter, Shane, Jack were also good red Rangers and leaders also.
Would love to see some videos on what it means to be the other colors of Rangers. Maybe one on what it means to be a sixth ranger could be cool. For me a red ranger inspires others to be the best versions of themselves. The reason Jason and Tommy are the two best red Rangers of all time in my opinion, are their ability to inspire their teammates and their willingness to do whatever it takes to protect their team and others.
How about a video explaining why the change of green and black rangers every/every other season.
There’s a simple explanation for that. It’s just whatever colors the Sentai used.
Jason david frank is the awesome man.... rip jason david frank and protect of the power
Just so you all know, it would have been WAY BETTER for Forever Red, if it had a Zord Battle with Sepantera! Also, Troy is a BLAND Character with GENERIC Struggles!
Wonder if Tommy didnt feel like he was wearing his old rivals skin
Can you post more on this channel? I know you have other channels but this is the best one!
Haha. Thanks. I’ll try!
I would love to see more videos like this, great to see you again 6th ranger.
Look who rises from the Ashes lol welcome back homie
🙌⚡️
A Green Ranger video would be interesting.
do a 2nd part to this but make it about all the red and leaders rangers, include ameila too they gave a reason why she became the red rangers that you provided and tommy is the definition of a true leader, when jason told him he didn t come back to take the leadership role , tommy told him "the power rangers is a team no one isnt as important as the next"
I kind of like the red ranger characters who learn to become good leader throughout the season like Conner from Dino Thunder, Jack from SPD and Casey from Jungle Fury
Watching these three growing into their role was so rewarding
@@alfreddiogu92 Jack is my favorite Red Ranger because of how he transformed into an amazing leader (SPD was the series I grew up with, although I did see DT thanks to Jetix reruns). But yeah… there is just something so satisfying about seeing Connor, Jack, and Casey transform into powerful leaders that their teams truly relied on.
Good leader, charismatic, helpful, kind, caring, put himself in the line, be a role model, responsible, and fair.
Yes let’s see all the colors!
Did anyone ever find out what caused Jason David Frank's brothers death? I know that had been pretty much a secret. But since JDF has died, I really wonder if it was similar.
It's not just about being a color ranger; it's about what it truly means to be the 6th ranger. This is the one who stands apart, wielding extraordinary powers and commanding a unique zord of their own. They embody the spirit of teamwork while also bringing a special flair to the fight. The story of the 6th ranger is one of strength, individuality, and an unbreakable bond with their fellow heroes.
Hello there Sixth Ranger and Happy New Year to you. I just wanted say thank for this wonderful new video. I also wanted to apologize for the tardiness of this comment, but when this video was posted I was busy at work and had to save it to my watch later list.
I just recently got the chance to check this video out and I thought that you did a wonderful job with this video and gave us some great in-depth info and perspective on some of these legendary Red Rangers. Anyways, thank you so much once again and can't wait to see what you have in store for us in your next exciting video. Until then, please stay safe, healthy and keep up the amazing work that you do. Peace Out. May the Power Protect you and everyone else in this community.
P.S. I have to admit that the Boom! Studio comics did help me understand some of these rangers out more, because they dive deep into the background on them.
Good video. I'd like to hear more about the other Red Rangers too. Would be cool to see you make one for the green ranger, maybe blue, yellow, etc.
Red is my favorite color, which is why I enjoy the red rangers of every Power Rangers shows I’ve watched! If I were to say who I like, I would go with Jason Lee Scott. He’s strong, has great determination, and no matter how many monsters try to belittle him, he never fails to rise up again and again! He’s quite the inspirational leader.
Yes Jake, please make more of these type of videos for each colour!
Seems like this is just a Small preview and This Should be fun.
Loved the video. Can't wait for the next
Thank you!! ⚡️
Jetman Red Hawk (Ryu) had one of the hardest things to do being a red ranger. Getting Black Condor (Gai) be part of the team. LOL. But he commanded power, despite his flaws he found with not being able to deal with Rie/Maria. He overcame them, and became stronger then ever as seen in the last few episodes. He was able to use the Jet Striker on his own. What other Red Ranger used a big weapon/finisher then needed the whole team, by them self? (im sure there has to be a few?)
Thank you so much for making this video. There is one Red Ranger that I wish has made this list: Amelia Jones from Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury. While she may not have been the greatest fighter on her team, she had a quiet strength that was undeniable. She had a small growth arc (Cosmic Fury was WAY too short), but she was always there for her teammates. I was very happy to see the Pink Ranger become the Red Ranger and stand out as more than just a team supporter and love interest for a male character (too many female characters across all media have this problem). Also, I would love to see a video on what being each other color means (especially Green and White, since I was considering those as my colors for the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game). I will await them with great patience, my life is also hectic, so I understand the gaps wholeheartedly. Good luck with everything, and May the Power Protect you and your loved ones
They should have kept her pink and made the oink ranger the leader. It 💩 on the pink rangers legacy.
Ohhhhh shit surprise 6th ranger drop!
Great indepth video, Jake 😁
Thanks! ⚡️
Brand appeal more than anything else. That's why Jason lost most of his popularity once Tommy came on the scene. He was just cooler in every way to the audience.
Ive thought a lot about this actually.
I think essentially what comes down to is i hate using this aura. Jason, Tommy, Andros, Leo, Carter, Wes, Eric, Cole all have shit that just makes you say I'd dight for this man.
Rocky, TJ....whis only claim to fame is he was baked into a damn pizza....shit Forgot Jack Landers, the first black ranger...with dreads.
Would you fight with this man as your leader. Thats it.
Thank you
Tommy. Period.. the other ones like rocky and TJ couldn’t cut it, hence why they were demoted to blue…
Welcome back!
🙌⚡️
I liked Turbo's Red Ranger, who was Tommy as well
Green or black, would be cool. Or blue two
A great leader who is willing to help people and put his own life on the line for others Jason is my favorite Red Ranger with Tommy in second
List of best red rangers beside Jason, Tommy, and Andros
Carter, the man was built for the danger as a firefighter, sure he’s a hot head but he’s willing to push towards forwards for the safety of everyone
Wes Collin’s, he defines the potential to only fight for one own future but a bright one
Jack Larson, Jack wasn’t the best definition of a red rangers (seriously he walks to the command center in Pj) but throughout the series he has to understand the weight of the responsibility and when he retire he’s glad to give the weight to someone worthy of being a red ranger which was Sky
@@alexthekitsune8740 Jack’s growth from an unsuitable pick to the inspirational leader SPD needed was immaculate. After Jack realizes the responsibility that comes with being the leader, he learns when to jump in himself (like when he fought Sinuku) or when to step back and let someone else take the lead (like when he gave Sky his morpher to allow Sky to deal with his father’s killer in his father’s Ranger color). Jack’s growth from street thug to true leader is one of the best things to come from SPD. Combine that with Sky growing alongside him, and Jack’s retirement to help the people on the ground floor and Sky’s promotion to new Red Ranger felt so earned and satisfying. It’s cool to see so many people acknowledge how amazing Jack became. One of my personal favorites for sure.
11 hours... Boom
Honestly my favourite is Red Samurai Ranger (Jayden) apparently the guy WASN'T even supposed to be Ranger but he still lead the group almost perfectly until the end he was just filling in the place until the real Red Ranger was ready and i love samurai series for that i don't care if people hate it or whatever i love it
Red Ranger is also defined by being so important that they get all (if not most) of the best power ups, fights and screen time. Used as a benchmark whenever the sixth rangers are introduced or to show how strong an enemy is which'll require either the Red ranger or the team to obtain a power-up (Red's Battlizer or the teams very rare group power).
Kinda boring after so many generations of Red Rangers getting near enough the best of the best with the sixth Ranger getting the next top spot.
I still think Jungle Fury goes underrated for the more modern era, I really liked Casey's arc, another honourable mention should be Carter Grayson, I think they also define aspects of being a Red Ranger too
Tommy was a great red ranger
Love your channel brother I always wanted to know the same thing 🔥🔥
Appreciate it!!
@ your welcome brother ⚡️
10:18 It's not spandex! 😂
Dr. K jumpscare.
@etherealdragon207 The material is a self-assembling nano-fibre formed with an inter-cellular shape memory alloy.
I wanna know what defines a 6th ranger
What does it mean to be a 6th Ranger?
I know this is a question for the channel owner lol, but to me the constant theme is overcoming one's past, darkness or at least using it for good.
Tommy's green ranger, silver from lightspeed rescue, silver from wild force, and my homeboy the magna defender, all had to work with their darkness .
P.s. Trent from Dino thunder is 5th ranger? But has a ”6th ranger type arc” also
Wes is my GOAT red ranger
defo need all the colours
Jayden was a good red ranger
Agree
tj red ranger turbo/blue ranger in space & leo red ranger galaxy tho
Other hand in sentai redrangers don't have specific rates that defines that part or even aren't always leaders.
To me, the red ranger is always the leader of the team. They don't always have to be the strongest member of the team, but they always lead the way. That's why I was upset when Jason abdicated his color to Rocky, and Rocky never got to lead the team. I would've arranged it as Rocky as leader and Tommy as second-in-command during MMPR. Rocky should've gotten leadership training from Tommy and/or Jason before he took a step back as the blue zeo ranger. Zeo was the perfect time for Tommy to shine as the red ranger and leader.
Honestly my favorite red ranger is Wesley from Time Force. Even though he wasn't the leader in the beginning, he had to work very hard to earn the respect of the others, especially Jen. As the season progressed he got to lead the team in battles and take center stage, just like a red ranger should.
Please do videos on SPD A-squad & Evox/ Venjix
Being the red ranger doesn't mean you are automatically the leader. Rocky wasn't, Connor from Dino Thunder wasn't. An there just wasn't a pink ranger in Cosmic Fury that's why Amelia became the red ranger. An Zayto is still there on that season he didn't get demoted when became stronger. Red doesn't equal leader
Very true. But in general, Red is lead ☺️
I'd argue that Connor was the leader of his team. Connor definitely led Ethan, Kira, and Trent. Tommy was the mentor ranger. He wasn't the leader.
Connor had to develop into a better leader over the season, but he definitely was the leader of the Dino Thunder team.
It sure wasn't Tommy...
I know you're not big on Super Sentai but I would like you to look into kiramager special the red ranger. When they pick their red ranger, the team had other ideas of what a red idea should be. Each character had their own unique trait. And each of them tried to "force " those traits into the red ranger instead of letting him be himself and lead his way. I would love to hear you opinion on it
YOU ARE BUSY THEN MY FRIEND
Just a bit 😅
Power is what defines a red ranger as well as being a great leader . In my opinion Jason from MPR and Wes from time force were the best leaders . And connor from dino thunder was the most powerful red ranger .
I'll disagree with the the thought that power defines a red ranger. There are a large number of examples of others being stronger, mostly 6th rangers. MMPR White, Dino Thunder White, Music Force White, the Shadow Ranger, the Phantom Ranger, the Titanium Ranger and several others. Being the strongest doesn't mean they should get red by default. If that was the case, Jen Scott in Time Force should have upgraded from Pink to Red. Yeah, the reds get the cool battlizers and what not, but that's not a defining feature.
One of my favorite red power ranger will be Tommy from zeo power rangers... It s good to watch power rangers zeo of jason david frank is the best ranger and powerful and also smart with good actor.... second red power rangers is Jack , sky and bridge from spd .. final of third power ranger jungle fury of red was Casey
You hit my big 3 for rangers jason tommy and andros but man do i have to give it up to disney era with Casey Jungle Fury Red ranger from essentially a beginner Casey was thrust into the legacy of thwarting daishi and did his best to learn from every available teacher and it all culminated in the bully casey stood up to in the first episode Jarrod not being destroyed by Casey as all his teachers tell him to do but Casey finally choosing his path and its to save his wayward senior a very different but important lesson Casey wasnt the brains nor the heart that kept the team together Casey saved the bully who only went further into the dark even saving that bully a love interest in a ageless demonic chameleon woman and also reforming her both of them pulled into the light of redemeption because Casey saw Jarrods true heart and refused to let him to continue sinking into depravity calling people on their bs and trying to build up those cares about Casey is an awesome red ranger
The color red
Casey was my favorite from jungle fury
To me the best red Ranger was the Power Rangers in space one
I feel like when Tommy became red zeo nothing really changed he was already leading the mm team as the white ranger.
Better example would be Carter Wes Casey and Scott
i will always argue that leader doesn't matter. assuming the rangers aren't just following their mentors orders the make decisions by consensuses. the only times leader matter is when they want to do the "the leader feels their role is being threatened", or the "abusive leader episode".
as far as the red ranger always being the most skilled fighter. i would argue that trini was a mor skilled fighter than jason, and tomy was as good if not better. rocky and adam where about equal, leo was as defintlyy a less skilled fighter than maia , jen was a mor skilled fighter than wess when wes became leader, kc from jungle furry was the least skilled fighter on the team through that series. ninja storm was clear that tory was a better ninja than Shane. . most rangers have no traing. they basically get their martial arts skills downloaded from the grid.
so as far a you discussion of androse, your point discount themselves. he started as a loan wolf that learned to trust his team yet his final acts as the season leader was to go off as a loan wolf and abandon his team.
I'd pick Carter and Zayto, over Troy
What defines a blue or yellow ranger ?
Please do the other colors
Jason is most definitely the best leader in power rangers then Tommy, Andros, TJ then whoever honestly lol is Tod the seasons after that were fully team based not actually leaders in any season aside from the mentors
The organization called better help is well known 2 be a scammer organization.
Would love a crossover of Power Rangers with Sentai.
It’s genuinely not. Probably best to do some research on that. Yes people had some issues with them, but they provide therapy from licensed therapists. Far from a scam.
@@the6thranger It has been proven 2 be scam, it can be easily found out when do some actual research on it (as i did when the news came out). They r a scammers organization, when they steal ppl money's money in return for shit. But very few ppl had some luck getting some help from it that is true, but most didn't. They can hire actual licensed therapists and still steal money from ppl, they r not exclusive from each other. As the therapist just works for the organization.
Unless they very recently did make a lot of changes and kicked out the group of ppl that were doing the scamming and fake therapy. And that they hired now some (more) actual licensed (good) therapists. If they did that, that should be talked aboot more than even when doing the ad for them, as those changes r good and would help the organization's image.
@the6thranger Seems youtube removed comment.
But it has been proven they were a scammers organization at time the info came out. I have done research on it. Anyone who did some real research could easily found I out. Sure few ppl were lucky and had therapy, but most were scammed. Either being scammers and having licensed therapists aren't exclusive from each other, as the therapists worked for the organization.
But they could've changed some things recently, kicked the scammers out and hired (more) actual licensed therapists. But that info they and the ppl doing ads for them should spread that info out more if they want 2 save their image.
I find the hate for non-leader Reds and non-Red leaders stupid. It's not like they were new things after decades, we had them in the second season.
Not being Jason, that'd be a start, he did nothing that should impress other Red Rangers, he's by far the lamest Red we've seen.
Not every leader needs to be red though.
Delphine
Doggie Crueger
Zack and Billy (O&A)
Adam
Taylor
@@kamensentai9286 To be fair Cruger was not the leader, he was the mentor figure. The Zordon to be technical. Yes, he morphed and was a Ranger, but some conflicts he didn’t get involved in even after becoming a Ranger. Red was still the squad leader, which was Jack.
Also, Taylor’s whole arc was learning to work with Cole after he become the leader and Red Ranger.
You did hit the nail on the head with Zack and Billy though. In Once and Always, without Jason or Tommy… it was interesting seeing the lead role not be a Red Ranger or a White Ranger for the MMPR team.
@trevinodude 👍👍🍟🍔
Pssht the Red Ranger should just retire once the 6th Ranger joins, nobody gives AF about Red at that point. Just ask Tommy 💪🏽
Yeah but og red put Tommy in his place. Also in Zeo Jason again put Tommy in his place as the gold ranger.😂😂
Why use the first 3 ever Reds and then skip aaaaaaaalll the way towards the somewhat recent red.
There is only one Red Ranger, and he is the true leader of the Power Rangers!! JASON
He sucks, he never defeated any main villain, and screwed off to a Peace Conference.
Rocky wasn't very well-liked as Jason and Tommy where
The creatives clearly had no idea what to do with him. Eventually they just randomly made him the goofball in Zeo.
I took the video title seriously, until you said "Troy from megaforce" which is where I stopped the video 😂😂😂😂 bc you can't be serious
That’s the entire point… I say in the video, that it’s not a popular season, and he’s not as popular as other rangers, but red rangers have certain things in common no matter if they’re good red rangers or not… should probably have watched an extra minute or so 🙄
