Would love to see the numbers on the strategy of combining ideal hard sell + nearly ideal soft sell (2/3 checkmarks) at the same time. I do that a lot but I feel odd about it, especially now that EA says penalties for incorrect sells are increased
100% this. I use a tactic of multiple soft sells to find their pitch when I have minimal information (like transfer portal) and am curious about the negative effects of the missed pitch
It seems to work well for me. Obviously if they’re within the pipeline even with the 2/3 soft sell I get high influence. Of course this is a highly successful school I’ve built. I’ve yet to try with a building school.

I feel like it might be more instructive to compare the 40-hour hard sell to the 50-hour send the house, because that's what I think most people would see as the alternative action, even if the cost in terms of hours is different.
^^This. Thanks to the last video, I would hard sell, but then throw in a soft sell with hopefully 2 of the better green checks. I would like to think it gives me a leg up on my friends in online dynasty when we're targeting the same players.
Another great vid!! The people need the data on Sway. It is the most elusive pitch and it remains shrouded in mystery. When to Sway? Should you say and sell? Do you sway on two greens or one? Should you sway on a dealbreaker? The people need answers and you’re the man for the job.
Sway when you have 2 green checks, It doesn't work when you only have 1, a solid lead on your comp (if you're the only scholarship and other teams are not recruiting at all, don't bother), when no other team is "gaining" and when those 2 checks plus a different 3rd check benefit you. Sway for 1 week, then let it go ..... try to put in a many points as you can for that prospect to minimize other team gains. They could catch up a lot and it can be risky. If it works though, hard sell from there on out and you'll pull away again
One slight note on that…you CAN sway if your Sway pitch only has one green check, it just has a lower success rate than if you have two greens in your pitch. I’ve experimented a lot with Sway and while it’s a fun mechanic, it usually isn’t worth it. I think it only makes sense if you want a very particular prospect, have bad/mediocre grades in the things he cares about, and are concerned about being run down by other schools with 3, 4, or 5-level pipelines. Even then, you have to get on Sway EARLY, otherwise you just won’t have time to benefit from the increased quality of your sell pitches, which still needs to play out over multiple weeks.
You both make great points. I’ve heard that you shouldn’t sway on a dealbreaker or sway on one vs sway on two. Given how ineffective it can be, it feels like you should be able to sway before week 5. I want to use it more as well but like you storm have seen that you really have to get it off early.
NEXT TEST IDEA! If you hard sell the wrong pitch but it has 2 green interests(if you couldn't figure out the third) and greater than 19 pts in the 2 green categories does that still have the same or greater than send the house?
That’s the “up to you discretion” part he was talking about, in most cases if you have 2 unlocked you should be able to figure out the 3rd. Not only that but the odds of the other trait being an F is very low and even if it was you’d have 20 points. EA has said that send the house is the most influence you can possibly offer a prospect, that and visits cause you can insta sign on those.
I had been using this system for both hard and soft sells, I even combine them when you have over 60+ hours I found I was able to get 2/3 on the soft sell it really helped
i’ve personally been just throwing several soft sells at players who i don’t know their interests (ex: i know they like proximity to home & coach prestige but i don’t know if the final one is academics or the athletic facilities so i just soft sell both.) 1 is going to be right and the other is 2 green 1 red but it’s almost like i was putting a hard sell on the correct 1 in terms of progress on the top bar. it’s also pretty good if it’s early in the top 5 portion because you figure out which is the correct pitch (sometimes send the house doesn’t tell you still) and you seem to get more progress.
Hey, what you mentioned at the very end would be very helpful for me personally and I hope others too. Before the update, I used hard and soft sells on my recruits when I had 60 or more hours to use on them. It is a thing that seemingly had only positive benefits, as you gained more than you lost. I would like to see what the new update changed before doing it again. Good video🙏
When I’m a low school if a 5 star has me at #1 after week 0 (scholarship) I put 40 pts into him if a 4* does the same I put 30, 3* 25, 2* 15. If I’m the only offer for a 3* or below I put 5 pts in. I also never put 35 players on my board. I want to make sure I at least have 40pts for visits each week. Ideally 80. For players where I’m not #1, 5* gets 30, 4* 25, 3* 10. As the season goes on I prioritize 5 stars for visits first. Below 5* I do visits based on needs and then which player is closest to making a decision, I want their visits first. If you’re a small school you will not get all the 4 stars on your board so I start removing people that I know I won’t get. By week 5 I go back to the prospect list and offer any 4 stars that either don’t have an offer or 1 offer that they aren’t that far along on. These guys I can get. Obviously each week you can remove and add 5 to prospects based on how ahead you are in the process for that recruit. Most 3 or below you dont even need to do a visit. And I hard sell as soon a I can with high recruits. Even before the update hard selling always helped me boost above other schools. I’m pretty successful in recruiting with this strat.
I usually start with "Send the house" then once the recruit moves to their top five, I use a "soft sell" and that usually works. I recruit five, four, and some three star recruits and even my last recruiting class I recruited nine five star recruits three of which were in the top five overall. I have the best recruiting class the last two seasons, and I am up to season six. I use Michigan which is a powerhouse school, but you still have to win, and know how to pitch your program to a recruit in order to get the recruit to commit to your school.
I get anywhere from 10-12 5 stars a year on my WKU team, and I almost never sell. If you can get Elite Recruiter fully maxed out you can get pretty much any recruit you want as long as you meet their deal breaker.
@@maxplayscfb I was winning games, but it didn't seem like it mattered nearly as much as it would at a bigger school. I never had a single player of any star level rank me as their #1 school in the preseason.

I’ll be honest, it’s pretty easy to me - I scout and get as many 5 star and green 4 stars until I’m around 16-20 players total, then I send 65 on 5stars and 35 on 4, when I get more points I add to the 4s and schedule visit for 5s. There’s always 2-4 players that will go somewhere else, when they take interest in other schools and you’ve invested max hours into them, pull everything out and delete them off the board. You can always scout and find gems later. Then just wait till you have all 3 green checks on players and hard sell if it’s better than the 65 hour max. I get #1 class almost every time
One thing that I think would be useful to investigate further is the impact of the dealbreaker grade on a hard sell. I've seen a number of hard sells with the same grades yield different results, but I don't have the data to completely substantiate the idea that a specific dealbreaker grade having more impact than the other two grades. The only real concrete example is seeing an A+/C-/D hard sell giving an extra triangle of influence, which I would not expect usually. In that case, the A+ matched the dealbreaker for the recruit, which could explain the variance. Or there is potentially some random factor as well.
So with the update, are the days of stacking the ideal hard sell with a 2/3 green soft cell are over? Now its an either/or choice. The ideal pitch is the only one they want us to use, and we're just choosing whether to pitch is as a hard sell or soft.
I assumed STH was always consistent in gains vs Hard Sell BUT Hard Sell had the chance to net you twice as much IF the grades were passed a certain threshold.
Can you do a video about Hard Selling AND Soft Selling at the same time? Basically is it better than just Hard Selling and adding everything else you can or not?
@@CortezLogan I've got 10 recruits on my board right now with both hard and soft sells active...lol. Yes you need at least 60 hrs to do this. But that's different than say "you can't do both at the same time" But you absolutely can do both hard and soft sells at the same time on the same player. Go try it on a recruit with 60+ weekly hours. You're in for treat 😄
Good changes and good work to discover them. I personally often find myself 'behind one' in terms of known recruit preferences compared to the AI in pitched battles. This forces me to make the decision to sell or not with incomplete information and I suspect a number of others have noticed this behavior as well. As such: lets get that experiment.
I appreciate your dedication for making our recruiting experience freaking Fun... I absolutely LOVE recruiting and Even with the new update Im still hard selling once I know the first 2... I think you should look into the situation mentioned at the end because sometime I’ll have 2/3 check marks be an A and have two pitches that could work and it might be better to start selling regardless if it’s the perfect pitch or not since 2 A = 24
Great video man! Your first video changed my recruiting in my dynasty league with my friends. I would love to see you experiment with if a player has interest in two spots but a question mark in a third. The last part of your video helps also, I’ve been taking a risk if a player has interest in two areas and I have an B+ and above in those areas, and if the third spot has a A- and above. Haven’t noticed to much of a penalty. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for the video!!!
There is something I do want to figure out. It’s a problem I seem to consistently run into and that is if hard selling + soft selling or hard selling + 15 additional hours. It’s really more of a test of how punishing soft sell is if the wrong pitch is used with one or two wrong interests.
Was waiting for this after update. Well done. Yes if you can look at soft sell with only 2 checks as I like to do the hard soft sell combo. I can say it is different now but hard to tell when better to do F&F pitch instead.
If you dont have it planned already, I would love to see a video breaking down the sway function. I still have no idea how it works and if you can just pick any pitch or need like at least 2 check-marks Most of the time you arent gonna want to mess around with a recruitment, but if a prospect is being under-recruited and doesnt have a pitch that matches your best grades, it could be useful to build a lead and sway just to lock up the recruitment before another school swoops in and decides they want them
frankly i never use it either just bc i dont understand it either LMAO -- maybe someday ill look into it but rn i havent seen many ppl even consider using it
I’ve messed around with it and gotten inconsistent results. It’s definitely helped in certain cases but other times I should’ve just been selling. It’s risky for sure
To sway u basically have to have 1 or two green checks with a red check … your literally trying to sway red check to green to do so two green checks with red will do n sometime 1 green with two reds will work but objective is to turn that red check green … this is how u end up with a prospect with 4 or 5 green checks … it makes hard selling easier so now I can hard sell with three green checks also soft sell with 3 green checks… for those of u wondering yes u have to leave sway for mayb week or two it doesn’t always work after 1 week It’s a good strategy if things are early n close in the recruiting process but 90% of the time it’s really not necessary…
Good stuff, but there might be a variable for which you didn't control. Coordinators can provide recruiting bonuses. So if one of your schools had a coordinator with recruiting skills and the other didn't, there's a level of uncontrolled variability. Probably doesn't have a notable effect, but it's possible.
Please test complementary visits next! Is it worth pulling hours from some players to schedule visits for premiere talent that you are competing for? I’m curious if going “all in” on 5 stars with visits and sells can get you enough points to beat out big schools with good pipelines
This is fantastic content and I’ve just become a subscriber! I’m sure someone has already mentioned, but I would love to see some data on when a great rating is not in their top 3
been meanig to ask but do you know when to sell? for example is hard selling at t8 worse then hard selling at t3 or when they ready to commit? whats also the point of soft selling? thanks
Hard sell as soon as you can/know the ideal pitch. Soft sell is kinda like an amplified “message friends and family” if hard sell is amplified “send the house” soft sell if you don’t have hours to put into a recruit but know the pitch until you have hours to hard sell
@@machineunit he provides a pt grade system based on the letter grades that are given for the pitches. A+ = 13 A = 12 A- = 11 All the way down to F.....if the ideal pitch adds up to 21 or more, send it!
@hiiipowerbass2337 I did he didn't explain the points breakdown very well in this video. I found it in another video, and the creator replied to me with the helpful information, unlike you, who replied with a trash attitude for no reason instead of being helpful. Why do you think that is?

See I didn’t wanna do that comparison bc it’s 40 hours vs 50, but my guess is based on that trendline - if you have FANTASTIC grades, I bet the 40 hard sell prob is better
@@maxplayscfbThat is what’s being asked in the thumbnail. Right now I’m just maxing hours and sending the house. Would like to know if it’s better to switch up my pitch once I know what they care about
I'm still unclear on when or if I ever should use soft sell. If a recruit is at 20 or 21 and I have the hours under what circumstance would I ever soft sell?
If you wanted to spread your hours out across more people, but outside of that you’re right - if you want the guy badly and have the hours, 21 points is def hard sell territory
I was wondering this, also. I have switched to something else after the week advances but I feel like I should just continuously Hard Sell if I know all 3 Movtivations.
@@PlayoffPressure Hard sell the moment it's available even if you don't know all three. Then change to the perfect pitch the following week and never remove the hard sell.
If you have a team thats all c+ or higher always hardsell. I play with Miami i know i know its a cheese team but I actually have to dumb down my recruiting
I always hard sell the three green check marks then soft sell another pitch that fits two green check marks and a red. Unless you get the glitch where you can hard and soft sell the same pitch. I’m interested in knowing if I shouldn’t soft sell the two green and one red pitches anymore. And only do the 25 point sell instead
i am in the firm "visits are garbage" group, i just feel like its a waste of 40 hours that i usually cant afford, the visit isnt for multiple weeks in the future and half the time the guy commits to my school / a diff school before the visit even happens
I usually hard sell a recruit all 3 check marks and then soft sell them with the remaining 20 hours on 2 other check marks to round out my 60 recruiting hours. I’ve had very good success with it and I’m very interested to see if it actually the best method or if it’s better to just hard sell the checksums and then fill in the other hours with the other activities
Yeah with how many times ppl have commented something similar to you, I think I’m gonna have to look into this ASAP. Traveling for work this week but hopefully I can try to get on this before the end of the month!!!
I’ve seen people who use the “Sway” mechanic to create multiple pitches so they can both hard and soft sell at the same time if they have points into the recruiter tree. Is this mechanic worth it?
How do you stack hard sell and soft sell? When I try, it locks the one slot with all the green check marks if I do a hard sell, so I can't use both on the ones with all 3 slots
Tell me when to soft sell. If I have 60 points, I am hard selling and using 15 more points to get to 55. Ideally you sway to get a soft sell and a hard sell but its hard for me to pass a hard sell when I have the opportunity and don't have enough points to sway and hard sell. Should I sway and use 30 points for an opportunity to get the change to hard/sell the following week?
I'd really love to know if it's worth stacking the hard sell ideal pitch stacked with a soft sell on a less than ideal pitch. I never stack them, since you can only do 1 ideal pitch. But I'll frequently have somebody who I can have 2 good greens, and then a red that's still a high grade. I'd be interested in that, for sure.
i think i saw a tweet from Bordeaux that the little triangles / arrows are subjective and you should ignore them -- what really matters is number of hours So just because 25+10+5 gives you more arrows than the 50 hour send the house, the 50 hour send the house is the way to go
Thank God we have smart people who also like and/or like to play college football

On currently year 2033 with San Diego State with best recruiting class yet nabbing 8 5 stars and 25 4 stars and 2 3 stars with a little less then half being Gems... Thanks and keep them coming 👊🏾💯🙏🏾✌🏾
Bro you’re a dog, with your methods, i just landed 6 4 stars (1 being a gem QB) and have totally cooked in my recruiting class. Keep pumping content bro, you could legit be the goat of this shit. God bless
heck yeah LETS GOOOOOO, glad these videos have been able to help!!!

I wonder how it would work broken down with 50 points used with a hard sell vs 50 with a soft.
So a hard sell + dm vs, soft + family+ social media.
Thanks for the update, love when you break it down
Please look into the hard and soft sells. But with good school grades.
I think you should look into the situation mentioned at the end because sometime I’ll have 2/3 check marks be an A and have two pitches that could work and it might be better to start selling regardless if it’s the perfect pitch or not since 2 A = 24
Ahhhh good note - will do this test this upcoming weekend!
Test the motivater skill tree some people are saying it’s not doing much
Super great video!!
Thank you!!
Amazing video as always max, thank you!
Yeaaaa this turn into a algebra class real quick 😂 good vid bro
Does anyone have any insight on the best combo when you have 80 hours for a player? Is double hard sell always the move in that situation?
This guy is the man!!!
So Soft/Hard Selling is better than “Sending the House”?
Thank you for the breakdown
Hard sell is definitely better than sending the house but not sure if the combo is penalized now if you’re soft sell has only 2 checks
Thank you for making these videos big man 🐐🐐🔥
There is something I do want to figure out.
What about the coordinators? Don’t their abilities or whatever they’re called potentially affect recruiting?
Great video man, keep it up
If you dont have it planned already, I would love to see a video breaking down the sway function. I still have no idea how it works and if you can just pick any pitch or need like at least 2 check-marks
Most of the time you arent gonna want to mess around with a recruitment, but if a prospect is being under-recruited and doesnt have a pitch that matches your best grades, it could be useful to build a lead and sway just to lock up the recruitment before another school swoops in and decides they want them
frankly i never use it either just bc i dont understand it either LMAO -- maybe someday ill look into it but rn i havent seen many ppl even consider using it
@@maxplayscfbLikewise... Either soft or hard sell for myself
I’ve messed around with it and gotten inconsistent results. It’s definitely helped in certain cases but other times I should’ve just been selling. It’s risky for sure
To sway u basically have to have 1 or two green checks with a red check … your literally trying to sway red check to green to do so two green checks with red will do n sometime 1 green with two reds will work but objective is to turn that red check green … this is how u end up with a prospect with 4 or 5 green checks … it makes hard selling easier so now I can hard sell with three green checks also soft sell with 3 green checks… for those of u wondering yes u have to leave sway for mayb week or two it doesn’t always work after 1 week
It’s a good strategy if things are early n close in the recruiting process but 90% of the time it’s really not necessary…
Good stuff, but there might be a variable for which you didn't control. Coordinators can provide recruiting bonuses. So if one of your schools had a coordinator with recruiting skills and the other didn't, there's a level of uncontrolled variability. Probably doesn't have a notable effect, but it's possible.
The only caveat to this is if one of their interests is Proximity to Home, then instead do Contact Friends and Family with the hard sell.
Still dont get whether you should soft or hard sell
Elite content bro. Keep it up
Please test complementary visits next! Is it worth pulling hours from some players to schedule visits for premiere talent that you are competing for? I’m curious if going “all in” on 5 stars with visits and sells can get you enough points to beat out big schools with good pipelines
Yes, i would love to see one on visits and if it’s worth pulling points like he said.
What about player interest? Like if you have 3 A+ but the olayer isnt interested
Are kickers with accurate or power tendency better?
This is fantastic content and I’ve just become a subscriber! I’m sure someone has already mentioned, but I would love to see some data on when a great rating is not in their top 3
Thank you!! And yeah, that’s the top of the list for priorities over the next couple weeks
been meanig to ask but do you know when to sell? for example is hard selling at t8 worse then hard selling at t3 or when they ready to commit? whats also the point of soft selling?
thanks
Hard sell as soon as you can/know the ideal pitch. Soft sell is kinda like an amplified “message friends and family” if hard sell is amplified “send the house” soft sell if you don’t have hours to put into a recruit but know the pitch until you have hours to hard sell
@@visionary640 thanks
I'm hard selling at 21 points, nothing less.
Where do you see points at?
@@machineunit he provides a pt grade system based on the letter grades that are given for the pitches.
A+ = 13
A = 12
A- = 11
All the way down to F.....if the ideal pitch adds up to 21 or more, send it!
@@machineunitdidnt watch the video huh
@hiiipowerbass2337 I did he didn't explain the points breakdown very well in this video. I found it in another video, and the creator replied to me with the helpful information, unlike you, who replied with a trash attitude for no reason instead of being helpful. Why do you think that is?
This was a very cool video / experiment
Was waiting on this video since the patch. Thanks for doing the hard work for us. Appreciate it!
I definitely wasn't Thursday when u posted this lol
Yeah I missed the mark by a few days
lol as a statistics major in college i see you used a matched pairs experiment. i’m curious do you have an educational background in statistics? keep up the good work, becoming one of my favorite channels on here
Thank you!! And yes, my undergrad and grad degrees were in analytics, so I do a good bit of coding but I’m prob like a B- on knowledge when it comes to stats unfortunately
Max definitely met the 21 criteria and hard sold here. We'll have to see next week if it was good enough for Alex to commit to his response.
LMAOO
so is it better to hard sell every week or to mix it up?
from what ive seen / heard, if a sell works, it works the exact same every week -- so if its working well, you should stick to it
Hi max have you ran an experiment on how to calculate a players max overall potential based off their max attributes to the caps?
Does a hard sell with good grades net more than just sending the house?
Max I rock with all your shirts
FINALLY someone is noticing… I got a ton more to show
Can anyone tell me if you are supposed to leave the hard sells on each week. Or do those effects stay on even if you change your hours around ?
I was wondering this, also. I have switched to something else after the week advances but I feel like I should just continuously Hard Sell if I know all 3 Movtivations.
@@PlayoffPressure Hard sell the moment it's available even if you don't know all three. Then change to the perfect pitch the following week and never remove the hard sell.
If you have a team thats all c+ or higher always hardsell. I play with Miami i know i know its a cheese team but I actually have to dumb down my recruiting
Yup, I think this data agrees with that take
I always hard sell the three green check marks then soft sell another pitch that fits two green check marks and a red. Unless you get the glitch where you can hard and soft sell the same pitch. I’m interested in knowing if I shouldn’t soft sell the two green and one red pitches anymore. And only do the 25 point sell instead
yeah it sounds like a lot of ppl do this, so i should def look into it
one question, do you bring recruits on visits
i am in the firm "visits are garbage" group, i just feel like its a waste of 40 hours that i usually cant afford, the visit isnt for multiple weeks in the future and half the time the guy commits to my school / a diff school before the visit even happens
Me here hard selling 3 A+ or 39 in your system and still not getting commits 😑
Id recommend making 2 team builder teams with the same grades for academic prestige, facilities etc so u know there’s no difference
Team builder is a genius move - lemme look into that
If it’s a gray area I’ll sell because it is less recruiting points
I usually hard sell a recruit all 3 check marks and then soft sell them with the remaining 20 hours on 2 other check marks to round out my 60 recruiting hours. I’ve had very good success with it and I’m very interested to see if it actually the best method or if it’s better to just hard sell the checksums and then fill in the other hours with the other activities
Yeah with how many times ppl have commented something similar to you, I think I’m gonna have to look into this ASAP. Traveling for work this week but hopefully I can try to get on this before the end of the month!!!
Listening to this video I can tell you're a good day trader
Lets Go! Thank you!!!
Moorehead bcs top 20 preseason poll fantasy@wish 10 year plan 1nce?
Tell me when to soft sell. If I have 60 points, I am hard selling and using 15 more points to get to 55. Ideally you sway to get a soft sell and a hard sell but its hard for me to pass a hard sell when I have the opportunity and don't have enough points to sway and hard sell. Should I sway and use 30 points for an opportunity to get the change to hard/sell the following week?
This is real content
Heck yeah thanks!
Question, does this apply to transfers as well?
It should!!!
W video my man
Is hard sell a one week thing or do you leave it on?
Leave it on until they commit. I hard sell as soon as I can. Even if I do not have the perfect pitch, I'll change it the following week.
Ok so what’s more effective?
Send house(50pts) + friends & fam(25 pts) or hard sell + soft sell? 🤔
That’s the top priority as far as next experiment - hoping to have a good answer in the next couple weeks
I like to 3 and 4 stack soft sell. Shit was giving me bonkers progress
Could you test which is more important: green triangles or hours?
i think i saw a tweet from Bordeaux that the little triangles / arrows are subjective and you should ignore them -- what really matters is number of hours
So just because 25+10+5 gives you more arrows than the 50 hour send the house, the 50 hour send the house is the way to go
Ignore the triangles. Hours win the race.
Certainly interested in result of selling value of 21 on his likes, and whatever value on one of his dislikes
If I wait to long usually lose out on them
