I don’t think he would outright call someone a fixer with no evidence. But let us look at where the HQ of match fixing is- India, Pakistan.
So even if an Indian or Pakistan player is accused of match fixing- it would likely be very much possible since they can be easily influenced in such an environment.

Rest assured, if it happens, it will get proven. It's only unprovable according to Geoff. The code of conduct is there for a reason. ICC wouldn't be too happy about England getting knocked out early anyways, and they would like to ensure such things don't happen again.

I doubt I've heard anything as dense as this in my decades of listening to cricket "pundits". We are talking of manipulating the game so as to underperform and deliberately reduce the margin of victory. Was that KL Rahul's objective? If that's match manipulation, any team that's playing for a draw is "match manipulating".

Zimbabwe were Associates when they beat Australia at the '83 World Cup so not quite a clean sheet. In ODI's they are 28 from 29. As for T20's, the game against Scotland will be their fifth against an Associate team. The third and fourth have been at this tournament. Not good enough imo. As cricket journalists, it's part of your job to know the exact wordings of the relvant code of conduct and convey it to the public instead of spreading misinformation. Net run rate manipulation in this manner is clearly covered in the relevant article (2.11) of the ICC code of conduct for players.

Yes they bring it up but they don't exactly know what it says. They just vaguely know it, probably because some fans mentioned it on twitter.
      Here is what it says:
"2.11 Any attempt to manipulate an International Match for inappropriate strategic or tactical reasons. Note: Article 2.11 is intended to prevent the manipulation of International Matches for inappropriate strategic or tactical reasons (such as when a team deliberately loses a pool Match in an ICC Event in order to affect the standings of other teams in that ICC Event). It might also apply to the inappropriate manipulation of a net run rate or accumulation of bonus points or otherwise. "

Football... Soccer... whatever.... teams, in multiple leagues, and in big tournaments, have a history of soft play, or playing for draws, to see their opposition through, if they know that opposition is weaker, and they will have a better time if they make it to the next phase, be it a league semis or knockout games, or the deeper stages of tournaments.
Probably happens more in that game than any other... but it DOES happen in others too.... it is just strategy. If you can play a soft game, go long and slow at the end, or let the opposition, in this case, to get the NRR up, in a Cricket match, it is just the same thing.
England gave Australia the luxury of having the power over if they face them in the 8s, or Scotland, by underperforming with Scotland, and making dumb calls that got them smoked paying Australia.
If they HAD NOT, then this would not be a conversation.
Personally, I hope for a miracle, that Namibia or Oman, roll England, and put this BS to bed, that way we need not worry about Aus v Scotland at all.

God I hope Aus throw the game now. Match the energy you're chatting in pressers. If you're happy with intentionally underperforming to achieve a specific NRR then you should be happy with losing because you're intentionally underperforming. I would say it's strange or surprising to see Aussies endorse match fixing but G Lemon is truly F tier of pundits so it's not really.

During a tour of Pakistan, New Zealand bowler Chris Pringle used a concealed bottle cap to rough up one side of a ball during a 1990 series in Faisalabad.
Waqar Younis of Pakistan became the first player to receive a suspension for ball tampering after a match in July 2000, and was fined 50% of his match fee.
In the second Test match of India's 2001 tour of South Africa, at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth, match referee Mike Denness suspended Sachin Tendulkar for one game in light of alleged ball tampering
Rahul Dravid of India rubbed a cough lozenge on the shiny side of the ball at The Gabba during an Australian Tri-Series match against Zimbabwe.
In 2006, an alleged ball-tampering issue overshadowed a Test match between Pakistan and England, whereby Pakistan refused to take to the field for the evening session after being penalised for ball tampering in the afternoon. Television cameras caught the umpires discussing the condition of the quarter seam. Pakistan are believed to have intended a protest against the decision by delaying their return after tea; however, while they were refusing to play, the umpires awarded the game to England in accordance with the Laws of Cricket.
Shahid Afridi, standing in as the Pakistani captain, received a two T20 international match ban for ball tampering in a match against Australia in January 2010. He was caught on camera biting the cricket ball in a bizarre attempt to re-adjust the seam of the ball.
In the first Test, Sri Lanka notified match referee Chris Broad that Australian bowler Peter Siddle may have been raising the seam of the ball during Sri Lanka's first innings. Peter Siddle collected 5/54. He was later cleared by the ICC
While fielding during the third day of the second Test in Dubai, cameras captured footage of South Africa fielder Faf du Plessis scuffing the ball against the zip of his trousers. The on-field umpires penalised South Africa by adding 5 runs to Pakistan's total and changing the ball
For the second time in nine months, the South African Test side found itself in a ball-tampering scandal, this time with medium-pace bowler Vernon Philander found guilty of tampering with the ball during the third day of the Galle Test against Sri Lanka in 2014. Philander was found to have breached clause 42.1 of the Laws, "scratching the ball with his fingers and thumb", and was fined 75% of his match fee. South Africa went on to win the Test by 153 runs.
On 18 November 2016 after their victory in the second Test against Australia in Hobart. Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis was alleged to have tampered with the condition of the ball after TV footage appeared to show him applying saliva onto the ball from a mint or a lolly
Australian player Cameron Bancroft was charged with ball tampering on 24 March 2018, when videos emerged that showed him rubbing the ball with, and later concealing, a yellow object during day three of the Third Test against South Africa at Newlands Stadium. Bancroft later claimed the object was a short length of yellow adhesive tape to which dirt and grit had adhered, forming an abrasive surface - though four days later, Cricket Australia confirmed that this was actually sandpaper
On the third morning of the second Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka in June 2018, the umpires replaced the match ball and awarded the West Indies five penalty runs when they deemed the Sri Lankan team to have been guilty of ball tampering on the previous day. The Sri Lankan team initially refused to take the field in protest, though they completed the match. Their captain, Dinesh Chandimal, was charged with altering the condition of the ball by the match referee
In November 2019, during the third ODI against Afghanistan, Nicholas Pooran was found guilty of ball tampering. Pooran admitted the charge, and was banned for four T20I matches
So it not just the England team kid.

The cultural difference between Australians and English people seems insurmountable when it comes to how you approach sports. Not saying you have to agree it’s immoral, but often Aussies seem to not even be able to begin to comprehend why there might be some qualms. Same thing about last year.

And then look at the moral outrage English fans had about sandpapergate while seemingly forgetting the numerous times English players have been caught ball tampering or admitted to it in their memiors.
