There will never be music this good not since Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman has there been such talent. Thank you mom and dad for my appreciation of this world war two era music.
I had the same musical upbringing. They tossed in folk music, too. I loved Glenn Miller. My parents took me to a concert one evening. They wanted to dance, so they carefully parked me at the far edge of the stage where they could see me. Ray McKinley (Miller's drummer during the war and now band leader) looked a little surprised but let things ride. It worked. They played twice more in the next three weeks in Ohio and I begged my parents to take me. Needless to say they didn't mind - nor did the band mind having a 5-6 your old totally in love with their music. I always cried at Moonlight Serenade - such a beautiful song but it also meant that the night was over.
Can’t get enough of this classic. Today’s musicians cannot be compared to this. Buddy Rich on forums with Gene Krupa makes it special not to mention the great Armstrong.
Превосходно всё!Музыка,танцоры и,самое главное,атмосфера праздника!!! Оркестр выше похвал!И время было особенным....видя и слыша всё это забываешь о мерзости нынешних дней...
Benny Goodman was a true musical genius on the clarinet, and, phenomenal musical arranger. His compositions, were more like jazz, with that ' swing' . Awesome.😎
Yes, Louie Prima composed it. A musical work of genius. Benny Goodman's 1937 arrangement made it even more famous to a wider audience. BG's arrangement is the one played when he had Krupa on drums, Harry James on trumpet, and was at the height of his popularity. The film shown has it dubbed into the sound track. Krupa and Buddy Rich are competing here. These film clips are just that; clips assembled to fit the sound track. A note in passing, Artie Shaw was a touch greater a "reed man" than BG.

There are a few performances that absolutely defined the person I am, musically and spiritually. One of those performances was Gene Krupa's drum groove for Benny Goodman Orchestra's "Sing Sing Sing". It simply defined the sound of sensual rhythm for me. The slow-motion dancing at :17 and :26 sends warm shivers up my spine. So beautiful!

Big Band, Swing was music! My parents were raised with it! Dad collected since he was a kid all the original records. He had them in stacks. They were heavy records and only he was allowed to handle them. Sadly they were all stolen when my parents had to move. Dad's idol was Benny Goodman and he finally saw him and we were in awe seeing the real Benny Goodman and never saw dad happier than seeing his idol. Dad wasn't so hot on the clarinet then. He squeaked. I still have that clarinet. Dad got it when he was nine in 1936. The case is so old the handle fell off. To have a clarinet from that era is pretty neat.
In case you have a very rich friend that you could persuade to bring back. Big Band Swing music *n a Dancing Hall Oh Am I Dreaming or Wishful Thinking?
"Oooooooooohh" what a great piece of music, and rich celebration of raw life. In my childish way, I beg the powers of the multiverses to set aside a special place and time where we can all get together again, to love and laugh and dance, and sing. There was a place in the multiverse that actually existed once. I know because I've been there. The power of this music, and the power of this joy transcends all the primitive racist misconceptions, and bizarre prejudices of America. I sincerely hope ( "HAPPINESS ") may return to our bitterly divided land someday soon. These cats had some gravitational pull that will be tough to match.

Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, and Dorothy Dandridge. It cannot get much better.
Can’t get enough of this classic. Today’s musicians cannot be compared to this. Buddy Rich on forums with Gene Krupa makes it special not to mention the great Armstrong.
Don't forget Kid Ory Louis mentor
And Sammy Davis Jr. The "cameos" make it great fun to watch.
i can't say if buddy rich is on this but i promise louis armstrong was not. and that is gene krupa
Gene Krupa my favourite
Dorothy Dandridge was a national treasure. What a beautiful talented girl.
She had the cutest shoulder moves. Check out Sunrise Serenade with Harold and Fayard.

The strangest combination of sound and vision I have ever seen!
I love that this includes shots of plus-size ladies dancing with just as much enthusiasm and energy as the scrawny girls!
In the black community, terrific dancers come in all sizes, male and female. The scrawny-girls-only rule is a systemic white thing.

Beautiful job. Brings out all the best of the era and music!
Benny Goodman was a true musical genius on the clarinet, and, phenomenal musical arranger. His compositions, were more like jazz, with that ' swing' . Awesome.😎
Whooo merci beaucoup ! Si joyeux, vivant, festif ! C'est revigorant ✨💃🏼
Written by Louis Prima. But yes, this is the greatest recording ever made.

I just had been finished to know this wonderful music...music of the sky!Love it!

What is this type of music called
@@MacAutoDiag This is what is known as "Swing" , "Swing Jazz", or simply the "Big Band" sound. This is what my grandparents listened to back in the '30s and '40s.
Look up Glenn Miller ("In The Mood")(and that isn't a typo. Glenn was spelled with 2 n's.), Arty Shaw ("Frenesi"), Duke Ellington ("Take The "A" Train"), Woody Herman ("Woodchopper's Ball"), and Harry James ("2 O'Clock Jump") to get a taste of just how amazing this kind of music really is!
I also have to add in Tommy Dorsey ("Opus One") and Benny Goodman's version of "Sing, Sing, Sing". Tommy Dorsey had a brother that also was the leader of a band, but for the life of me, I can't think of his first name.
