pretty true, he doesn't get much ice time. and when he does it's usually to go out and fight or rough people up. hard to rack up points when your on the sideline
I'm almost 50 years old and have been watching hockey since the 1970s. The ONLY all star game I've ever watched was to see John Scott play. It was an incredible moment.
John Scott described the situation well in this interview. The all-star game is for the fans and the fans voted him in (under the rules) so...to say the quiet part out loud, who the heck thinks they have the right to tell him to turn the opportunity down?
Really great interview. It was awesome to see him play this weekend. Thought he surprised a lot of people. Just a genuine modest great guy. The look of pure joy on his face all weekend was something I'll remember for a long time.
Fantastic for true hockey fans that realize that John Scott game is still an important part of the game! Good to see and was well worth watching the NHL Allstar game
He's actually done the NHL a favour. When, before this year, was the last time anybody gave a fuck about the All Star Game? Personally, I have very little interest in the 3-on-3 gimmick, but, I'll definitely be watching this year because Scotty's in the mix. Otherwise? Meh.
+Kyle G Agreed. Pretty sure I hadn't watched an NHL All Star Fame since it was in Raleigh, NC. When was that? 2009? I hadn't even realised until yesterday that the game was even held at all last year!
Are you worried this is your legacy?, come on hell of a legacy. Still 4 years on and I still enjoy watching this whole thing and how legitimately everyone is, from players to the fans. And especially John Scott. The fans voted in one of the lowest stat guys as a farce. But he turned it into, this guy is one of us (the fans). An every-man playing with the big boys. I really hope this guy is still doing well.
You know, I didn't know very much about this guy apart from seeing him as a hockey player and certainly enjoying everything that came with him, good and bad. But I never realized the guy is a degreed engineer, and that he's about as normal and down to earth and humble as anyone could ever hope to be. His is probably one of the few NHL jerseys I'd ever care to wear.
As much as the NHL tries to eliminate fighting and fighters, they will always be needed in the league to protect the superstars. John Scott represented every guy that had to fill that role the last 60 years.
Absolutely rediculous the NHL tried to block him from getting in the all star, and the measures they took after to prevent fans from voting for who they want to be all stars. The NHL again failing to understand they are in the entertainment business. The league tried to screw him over just for going to the all star game. The NBA or NFL would have handled it so much differently.
“Are you okay that this will be your legacy?” First, what a terribly formulated question from a bad interviewer. Secondly, I would never have heard of John Scott without this and his “legacy” and result of this is I get to know a class act who seems pretty nice but this guy is also extremely well articulated and intelligent.
I have said for many years, that of all the pro sports, hockey has the most down to earth athletes. Good on him, for embracing what began as a joke really. Articulate young man, who ended up winning the MVP of the game, if this is his legacy, there are certainly worse ways to go.
Canadians are missing a great opportunity with Scott. I would call him up and put him on the power play to give Gallagher a break in front of the net. His popularity at the moment not to mention the good karma he would bring.
john scott is the best awesome dude. there should be a vote to get him back in the nhl and bettman out plus most beer league guy play john scott one on one he would owe them
I love how the NHL pretends like they're happy for him now, when they traded him and his 9 month pregnant wife with twins from Arizona to Newfoundland just so he wounded play in the all-star game...
i hope the nhl learned how you should treat people. these are humans, not products. even though bettman always says: ''we sell a product''. its sports, its a game.
Of course he's a nice guy. Can you imagine the jeopardy the NHL would be in if a fighter killed someone on the ice in plain view of impressionable children and the world? All hell would break loose.
Actually he was in the NHL when he was voted as an All Star captain. People voted him in cause they thought it would be funny. It was an arbitrary vote though, it could have been anyone. After he got voted in, the word on the street is that the NHL tried to tell him to step down, and they forced a trade so he got sent to Montreal and then put in the AHL.
Lol he made about five million in today's terms after taxes agent fees etc about three million plus another million other things net so about four mil net in 2023 terms. Can easliy make another 100k net a year another twenty thirty years. So it's like 250 k ayear average forty year career or 200 k a year fifty years. Lol that's a high level profs salary.
The hero the NHL needs, but not the one it deserves.
Im rooting for John Scott. Hes a very likable guy.
The majority of hockey players are, especially the enforcers like big John here. :-)
"Sometimes I don't even play in the third period" - John Scott
hey he says it how it is
+Thomas Monahan "I'm actually not that bad of a player..." - Jon Scott
Christian Escudero " I repeat shit that doesn't need to be repeated and because I did I look like a big fucking tool..."- Christian Escudero

pretty true, he doesn't get much ice time. and when he does it's usually to go out and fight or rough people up. hard to rack up points when your on the sideline
John really has handled this with a lot of class.
Goes from not playing in the 3rd period to being an NHL all-star. What a guy.
+Kevin correction be the best nhl all star #mvp
*Captain
He singlehandedly made the All-Star game worth watching again. Not gonna lie I get chills and occasionally tears watching his all star highlights now
he's extremely articulate and well spoken. maybe he should consider becoming a host in the future or work as an engineer.
Such a great guy.
and the GREATEST GOAL SCORER IN NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE.
I'm almost 50 years old and have been watching hockey since the 1970s. The ONLY all star game I've ever watched was to see John Scott play. It was an incredible moment.
People wanted to see Scott in the all star game. No matter how the whole thing started. Glad he decided to take part.
You have my respect Mr. Scott.
What a humble guy. I'm glad this happened to him. The hockey world needs more guys with John Scott's heart and grace.
Class act for someone who beats people up for a living. I'm glad they let him play, it was a highlight in what has become a really boring event.
He's actually so well spoken he could legitimately be a sportscaster or something when he retires
Well he has had a podcast now for a while so this aged well
Best hands in the NHL! Born to snipe!
"I weigh 265lbs i hope i can shoot it hard"-John Scott youre the greatest lmao
I hope John Scott plays in the NHL next year. Win this man a Stanley cup
He already has one
+Evan Scott he got one in 2010 right?
+alex riou yea. With Chicago
Detroit! Take him! You need some tough guys.

+Fakename70 exactly, its the best thing they have going for them.
First Time I watched in years!!! Scott was awesome! He made the weekend!!!
+Kyle G
Agreed. Pretty sure I hadn't watched an NHL All Star Fame since it was in Raleigh, NC. When was that? 2009? I hadn't even realised until yesterday that the game was even held at all last year!
I have a new found respect for this guy. Highly educated and articulate.
He's the best in the league at what he does. So he is an all-star.
I wish nothing but good things for this guy. Way to go, John Scott!
I feel like the interviewers were a little hostile
They didn't want him there
don't know why people are bashing him. he's such a nice guy
what a cool guy! one of the most interesting things to happen in the NHL ever.
"I'm not that bad of a player you know"
Great guy and absolutely solid family, total respect.
Are you worried this is your legacy?, come on hell of a legacy. Still 4 years on and I still enjoy watching this whole thing and how legitimately everyone is, from players to the fans. Some of those questions were pretty insulting. They made it out like hes a rec league player not an NHL player for 8 years
You know, I didn't know very much about this guy apart from seeing him as a hockey player and certainly enjoying everything that came with him, good and bad. Wow, that was candid. Great interview
If John Scott scores 3 on 3 I die happy
He got 2
+Snoop Dogg I die happy
Rest in Peace Nikolaus
Go John, good for you and your family. Hope all turns they way you wish.
John Scott is the best
Ended up scoring two goals and being the M.V.P. FUCKING legend!!!!!!!
John Scott, legend.
God Bless John Scott
"We'll get you a couple" - Pavelski & Burns
The host with the grey suit is such a bad interviewer.
nick lucaj Dude, hes a moron like yourself.
As much as the NHL tries to eliminate fighting and fighters, they will always be needed in the league to protect the superstars. John Scott represented every guy that had to fill that role the last 60 years.
Actual reason to watch an All Star game. I hope he gets a couple goals!
And he did!
Absolutely rediculous the NHL tried to block him from getting in the all star, and the measures they took after to prevent fans from voting for who they want to be all stars. The NHL again failing to understand they are in the entertainment business.
The league tried to screw him over just for going to the all star game.

this guy has all my respect!
I have said for many years, that of all the pro sports, hockey has the most down to earth athletes. Good on him, for embracing what began as a joke really. Articulate young man, who ended up winning the MVP of the game, if this is his legacy, there are certainly worse ways to go.
Great guy.
If you are interested in this whole john scott story listen to- The Punchline podcast from radiolab
His career ended a bit sooner but also healthier and he now as a place in all the lore and legends in nhl history
class act
Canadians are missing a great opportunity with Scott. I would call him up and put him on the power play to give Gallagher a break in front of the net. His popularity at the moment not to mention the good karma he would bring.

You dropped this 👑
2 GOAAAALS GO JOHNNY GO
what a cool dude!
Not normally a fan of either of the interviewers but they did a great job here.
Wow he actually predicted his game, kind of! @5:14
I went to the all star game and bought a Weber jersey. I kinda wish I got a Scott jersey and got it signed by him lol
Even though his know as a tough guy he is a really nice guy.
Class act
Think of it this way
John Scott s last nhl game(possibly)
Was the all star game
I love how the NHL pretends like they're happy for him now, when they traded him and his 9 month pregnant wife with twins from Arizona to Newfoundland just so he wounded play in the all-star game...
The NHL leadership disgusts me how they acted. I'm so happy for this humble man.
Our Allstar MVP.
John scott... The fucking man.
He's going to be in the Canadiens line up for the the last 3 games!
MVP!
The last good all star game I actually enjoyed watching. Miss you Scott!
The advice they gave him was the same advice i get from my teammates every game lol
When he said some blogger brought it up, do you guys think he means steve dangle
No he means the Reddit site that started all of it
+HockeyDudes1254 before reddit it was on yahoo puck daddy by Greg Wyshynski
+jacquin666 And the Marek vs. Wyshynski podcast
+JBreezyyNY correct you are
It was 2bcproductions he started all of this in a video.
John Scott will join the broadcast. They have Milbury on NBCSN and he beat a guy with a shoe
Lol milbury ranted on scott but to my knowledge scott never beat anyone with a shoe
I really hope so. He'd be prefect for it!
+Snoop Dogg milbury beat someone with a shoe
+Nazaire Idoura he is too high to understand
I want Scott to beat Milbury with a shoe
GOAT
This was the last time the Allstar game was watchable tbh
Boy, they were real asshats to him. Once a Shark, always a Shark. #SharksForLife 🦈🦈🦈🦈🏒🥅
John Scott should have Betmans job!
The blogger he's mentioning is 2BCProductions2BC haha.
+Tyler McGillick it's Greg Wyshinski not 2BC
+MrVile12 What if they're the same?
*Music Intensifies*
Great guy, shame some internet fans may just ruin his career
i hope the nhl learned how you should treat people. these are humans, not products. even though bettman always says: ''we sell a product''. its sports, its a game.
THIS is the guy who tried to fight Phil Kessel?
Yup... sabers and leafs!
is he in or out of the allstar game?
He is in, he just talked about it for 10 minutes
Bobby T. sorry... idk who i should root for... west or east? cause metroplotin has schnider (cory) and pacific has scott..
+Sweg Moose Do you have that as your avatar to remind you of which team to root for?
Of course he's a nice guy. Can you imagine the jeopardy the NHL would be in if a fighter killed someone on the ice in plain view of impressionable children and the world? All hell would break loose.
Did he win cash prize?
"....and stuff like that"
WHO WILL SCOTT THE MOST!?!
I don't like how many of the questions asked prematurely presumed something...
How the hell is it his fault ? The NHL should have foreseen this happening but really who gives a shit about the any all star game.
Habs legend
Scotty Chant In SmashVille
John Scotts a real nice guy, commentators are just pricks.
Why did so many people specifically want him to be in the all star game? Why not any other AHL-level player?
Actually he was in the NHL when he was voted as an All Star captain. People voted him in cause they thought it would be funny. It was an arbitrary vote though, it could have been anyone. After he got voted in, the word on the street is that the NHL tried to tell him to step down, and they forced a trade so he got sent to Montreal and then put in the AHL.
did he cheapshot the reporters?
He's not Matt Cooke now...
John Scott for presidant
He kinda sounds like Louis Ck
the point were the NHL jumped the shark..
