You know, whenever I see someone on here trying to play a SRV tune, after 30 seconds I turn it off. Mainly because, well, it's not Stevie Ray Vaughan. But not this time. Had me mesmerized the entire tune. Well done! Stevie is no doubt grinnin' his butt off!
SRV is probably my favorite musician of all and this is one of my favorite pieces by him so it can sometimes be hard to listen to someone cover his songs but kudos to this young lady …. I really like what she did. It’s totally in the spirit of SRV and the way he approached cover his idols works ( and I’ll assume she was a big fan of his) she pays tribute to the man while still putting her own stamp on a classic instrumental. I’d never heard of her before but I’m glad I did, I’ll be searching out some of her original stuff as soon as I’m done writing this comment. She’s got feel, skills and good taste so I’m looking forward to hearing some new music by her. Thank you
This young lady is an amazing talent! I've been following her since she was a teenager in Kilgore, Texas. Her band is really great too, especially the bass player. If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO IT!!! The blues are in great hands with people like Ally.
Wow,I was on a different tab altogether and this came through my headphones. I recognized Stevie right away and came here. Amy you are so far above anything I have heard that sounds so close to the Amazing Stevie Ray VaughN .Please do not ever stop.AMAZING!!! THANK YOU!
I love Ally's aggressive playing, there is nothing like a Stratocaster in the hands of a master: one who has discovered all it's foibles and knows how to make it all work..... The quiet delicate parts were breathtaking! Such crystalline tone ... well done Ally!
People should listen to the session with Al King and Stevie Ray. There’s some interesting things revealed about Stevie as a young boy who just got his first guitar. I cried the entire video
That's some good stuff. A lot of Stevie in her playing, a lot of John Mayer in her playing, but most of all, a whole lot of her in that playing. Gotta catch her live somewhere now.
I felt that in my soul ally that was something special! Stevie was taken in his prime but his music lives on through artist who can feel the music deep in their soul 👍 R.I.P. STEVIE GONE TO SOON BUT NEVER FO6RGOTTEN 🙏 7:30
I’m weeping like a baby right now. I’m so much into the way Stevie Ray played and not glancing at the screen but listening with headphones on I would think this is him. Now lol can she play behind her back? Can she lol tongue her strings like he did? I’d be really impressed if she did
When you toss a stone in the water, it creates ripples in all directions. SRV was the stone, but Ally is more than just a ripple, she is evolving into a force of her own.
At the show she announced this as HER tribute to the man who was the first and major influence on her playing. I don't think she is trying to play as him, but more like an expression of her own playing with nods to him throughout. Personally, I think it was very well done. You can hear Stevie in there, but it's definitely Ally all the way. For me, the key to great blues guitar is not so much in the specific technique but instead in the ability to convey a mood or emotion to the audience. And here Ally demonstrates that her ability to do that is as good as anybody out there...even approaching the man himself, SRV. (Of course, who can honestly claim to be just as good as SRV? ...that list is very, very short) I know for a fact from speaking with her that Ally is far too humble to ever assume that.
So sad Stevie died so young. Only thing that gives me any peace is all of the future generations he has influenced. Maybe that was his destiny. Great tribute Ally. SRV = THE G.O.A.T.
Ok- there's a likelihood that what I say will be criticized so first Ally and her band are extremely adept and I would happily pay good money to attend a concert. As regards stylistic differences there were some passages where I felt Stevie would have (at least for part of his career) leaned into using a wah-wah pedal. Finger technique - Ally does exceptionally well but those ridiculously slow and ridiculously wide bends were not IMO as ridiculous as SRV somehow played them. I still liked this greatly so Thank You Ally & Co.
I saw SRV in L. A. In 81 or so. He is the only person I have ever seen where he was 1 with his instrument. And I have seen many in my time and this is really good
Guitar players are everywhere now that we are open to the world now, we see kids playing guitars like crazy. You know.. having said that she's a dime a dozen, even though she's good at what's she's doing. Just my opinion
First time I heard Hendrrix on the radio....1968 a carload... me and my army buds were entering Nogales at night...still remember vividly asking the Chicago guys "who the hell is that?!!" goose bumps...

You stayed because it's a girl, dont lie
Finally some one with feeling
Top notch, SRV IS SMILING BABY. 🙏💯
Beautiful woman, excellent olay.
One of the most soulful covers of this classic tune I have absolutely ever heard. She makes every note count.

She's an excellent guitarist who plays with great feeling ❤ Great interaction with the drummer!
and bassist. It sounds like a jam but the performance is well rehearsed.
Man no doubt in my mind Stevie ray didn't smile down on this...God I miss him...an love her

Wow…very fine, aspirational work!
There will be never another like SRV , but this Homage is cool
So good! There's a lot of talent on that stage.
Very nice and smooth 😳 great job! Very impressive.
When you toss a stone in the water, it creates ripples in all directions. SRV was the stone, but Ally is more than just a ripple, she is evolving into a force of her own.

Maybe SRV & Jimi nodded "and thumbs UP".

I love Ally she has discovered that touch

Interesting choice , for an SRV tune .
Ooooh boyyy, Grace Bowers vs Ally Venable, Ally or Grace, Grace or Ally, Ally, Grace, Grace, Ally, one could lose his mind trying to figure it out...

I’m sorry that you feel compelled to be negative about someone else’s effort. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you needed to post it.
WHO IS THIS?!!!! ALLY VENABLE???????????????? SMOKIN
EXCELENTE
First time I heard Hendrrix on the radio....1968 a carload... me and my army buds were entering Nogales at night...still remember vividly asking the Chicago guys "who the hell is that?!!" goose bumps...
she plays it well with a lot of feeling ,,, that to me is what it's all all all all about , feeling ,,,
Lenny is such a great song. There may not be anything sexier to me than a beautiful woman crushing it on the guitar. Very tastefully done. 🤘👍
Bad ass
you player good bro
I could hear the SrV influence
Young lady definitely's got great tone. Playing on spot as well.
YOU GO GIRL!!! ❤🔥👌
🥰
Very good, not a bad copy
Your song actually made this grown man cry.
Love it
Pretty good…kind of sounds like she asked herself what would this sound like if Mayer played this
nice
Do you play any Robin Trower?
❤
Daniel. Not a copy. Her interpretation & tribute.
Love the way she loses herself in the phrasing as if she's letting the guitar go where it wants to go. Stevie was the same way.
Krásne.❤
If ya gonna play tenn Ya gotta have a.......bass in da band.
Hot woman beautiful
Nothing sexier than a girl guitarist
Very sweet. Wish I was as good as her. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 Stevie would definitely be proud!
