I've been a VA before and am interested in possibly doing it again. However, I'd like it to be an asyncronous VA business. I don't want to be on call or take calls from customers...basically don't want to be tied to a phone or desk or certain hours. I'd like to have projects and tasks to work on my own schedule. (i.e., 8pm - 1am at night if I wanted to) or 5am-8am...etc. Does anyone do anything like that? If so...what does it look like for you?
You can totally be an Asynch VA. For 99.99% of my job, I'm asynchronous and work around my own schedule. My clients are happy as long as I get work done - the only thing you need to be clear on for clients is that you tell them (under no uncertain terms) that you're on an asynch schedule.

I think LinkedIn is the best but like any platform - it will take time to establish yourself as a VA. Be consistent in whatever you choose

Good question! Creating a resume without prior experience can be challenging, but it is not impossible. The good news is that MOST people do not ask for resumes for virtual assistant work - that's because there is no formal training to become a VA. But here are some tips to help you create a strong VA resume:
👉 Emphasize relevant skills: Even if you don't have direct VA experience, you may have developed transferable skills in previous roles or in your personal life. Emphasize skills such as time management, organization, attention to detail, multitasking, etc. Also emphasize related experience too, in things like customer service, communication, and problem-solving.
👉 Highlight your education and training: Include any relevant education or training, such as courses or certifications related to virtual assistance, customer service, or communication.
👉 Add any related experience: If you have any experience that is related to virtual assistance, such as administrative work, data entry, or customer service, be sure to include it on your resume.
👉 Provide examples: Whenever possible, provide examples of how you have demonstrated the skills and abilities needed for a VA role. This could include examples of how you have successfully managed a complex project, solved a difficult problem, or provided exceptional customer service.
Instead of a resume, focus on creating a LinkedIN profile that demonstrates all of your skills. A good LinkedIn profile can act like a landing page, or website. In most cases, I think a strong and active LinkedIn profile is better than a resume.

If you are just starting out as a va, can you just work with one client? And what amount can you charge when you just starting out?
I think it’s best to start with one client and not take on additional work until you feel like you have a handle on the workload for the 1st person!

I have been looking for my first client for a year now with no luck. All the jobs available require prior experience. The competition is cutthroat. Where can I get a client that accepts a complete newbie but of course with all the basic skills you have mentioned? Which communication is better? I have a business Whatsapp and email. I was thinking Whatsapp for support and email for VA services
My personal suggestion is to keep it simple and use one service to handle all client communication (pick email or whatsapp). But ultimately choice is yours, whatever is easiest for you.
Hi Erin, I am a new executive assistant and I have a pressing question to which I would appreciate your reply. How do I inform my executive of his daily tasks scheduled in the calendar? Do I call him to remind him of each task, or would he be the one checking the calendar himself? thank you
Good question and it really depends on your client, so I'd ask what he prefers. You can give him options (I do ALL of the following with my own clients based on their needs): 1) have a standing weekly check in with him on Monday and verbally go over the calendar. 2) You can send him an email either at the end of each work day or super early AM before the start of a new work day with a recap of all the meetings happening. 3) He may prefer to check the calendar himself and tell you when something needs to be rescheduled.
