- We were lucky enough to be on the inaugural voyage of the Carnival Luminosa. We stayed in a balcony cabin. Here's out full tour of balcony cabin 8314 on the beautiful Carnival Luminosa.
EDIT* - in the video we mention that the sofa may be an extra bed. When we took another cruise on the Luminosa we found out that it is not an extra bed, it has drawers underneath. If you want to see what they are like we show this in our video tour of cabin 7258. Sorry for the incorrect information in this video on that.

Hi, have watched many of your videos. Thanks for producing the content. They are always great to help us decide on various options. We've done one cruise on the Luminosa in an aft balcony cabin on the 4th floor. It was a fantastic cabin and cruise. We are going to do another later this year and are trying to work out which cabin. The only available balcony cabin is on deck 8 not too far from this cabin in your video (I think we would be under the taco/burrito place).
How did you find the noise?
Some cruise critic commenters have said its noisy. I am not too sensitive to noise so think perhaps they were being a little critical. We find that there are some heavy critics of the Luminosa in general but our experience is exactly the opposite. We couldn't fault a thing.

great cabin :) we have booked a balcony cabin on our great barrier reef cruise on luminosa :) that balcony is really big :) cabin 5248 :)

I thought exactly the same - I expected these cabins to be really dated and tired looking, but am pleasantly surprised watching this!

Glad I found this video! I’m about to book a cruise on this ship next Spring, and am really surprised at the pricing. Your video’s reassured me that the rooms are actually decent quality - I was worried when I saw what they were charging…!!
Hi Fraser. Not really sure what is going on with Carnival at the moment for this ship as they are putting out some ridiculous pricing - some less than the OBC they are offering. And it's not just one or two either, we spoke to so many people on board who had $250 pp with $500 OBC deals. We have seen posts since coming back of people with NZ and Christmas cruises for around $250 pp with OBC. I spoke to my TA who is getting a lot of calls from angry customers because of this (they are paying full price and not being offered reduction). TA is trying to find out what is going on but Carnival aren't saying. Sorry for the lengthy response but if you get a good deal then take it as it's a beautiful ship. We're doing more videos and reviews from around the ship so keep a look out. When are you looking at going? We are on board Luminosa again on 2nd April next year.

I have found that if you wedge the door open with some tissue or the like, to the cupboard where the fridge is, the fridge will stay very cold. It provides better ventilation.
Great to know there’s a fridge, it isn’t mentioned on the Carnival website
Hi Andrew. There is but if it's not working too well, try leaving the cupboard door open, it works much better.

Hi mate. Guess what. They have a buffet station devoted to pies. We did a video and I specifically mentioned you in it. Might be a couple of weeks before we get that one out though. I was wondering if the curtain sufficiently darkens the room to sleep during the day or upon sunrise. We like it to be very dark for sleeping. We are sailing to Alaska in June. Thank you so much for the video tour. 😊

Hi Chris. As well as the ongoing videos we did a final thoughts video before we left the ship this morning and a final thoughts video is coming very soon.
The fridges don’t get real cold because the closed door makes the fridge work overtime. I open my door when we’re I. The cabin to give it a rest!

Must be the first time on a Carnival cruise. That room is not new, the other Sprit class ships look the same and are getting old too. The slot by the door is for the cabin steward's business card.

Thanks Debbie. Lowes sell some amazing outfits these days. Couldn't believe how many people on the cruise had shirts and matchy matchys from Lowes.
Is this an extended balcony or normal balcony room?
Hi. Thanks for dropping by. This was just a standard balcony. We don't use the balcony that much so it isn't worth it for us to pay the extra for an extended one. If we happen to get one though we're not going to refuse.
Which ship was your favourite luminosa or quantum of the seas
Hi Mick. Thanks for watching and for the comment. If we're talking strictly ships then Quantum has better facilities. However, Luminosa, being a smaller ship, has more of an intimate feel and it is certainly a lot easier to get on and off at ports when only the tenders are used. We will be looking to go back on the Quantum or the Ovation but, by the same token, we have a few cruises also booked for the Luminosa. Each ship really has its own character.

That pull out bed would fill the cabin and make it a very tight fit for someone to get past it.
Hi Vinaka. We since found out that it is not an extra bed, it has drawers under it. Thanks for the comment though, we will put a comment on the video. I think we do actually point that out in another video we did from a different cabin on the Luminosa, will check that one too.

Hi. It's neither, it's Carnival.
Hi Its certainly not RCCL or P&O the food at the buffet was the worst I have ever experienced, lack of choice, no bacon no butter no bread, deserts were wanting and limited in choice, sizzler had better choice and quantity. Beds were hard as rocks, deck 3 was out of bounds whole trip, smokers forced to the top deck in the elements, toilets backing up all the time. Thats why it was so cheap I will be sticking to RCCL! However the staff were excellent and friendly but sadly this ship needs to up its game if it want to compete with the others.
Bathroom are still very dated for that reason I would pick another ship that’s modern like Royal Caribbean
