I live in the UK and almost every Lebanese person I have ever done business with will... - try to cheat you - try to avoid paying taxes (of any kind) - will break laws/regulations if they see it as being to their short-term financial benefit This is not unique to the UK. Look at the big carwash money laundering scandal in Brazil and you'll also find that nearly all the key players were of Lebanese origin. This is in fact why Lebanese people succeed abroad. They go to nice countries where most people are law-abiding (UK, France, US) and through a mixture of brains, stubbornness and massive willingness to lie, cheat and break the law or behave immorally, they end up being successful. That works when a few people behave like that. When EVERYONE behaves like that you have a failed state called Lebanon.

Great Sarde, Fadi is beside being a super player he is a truthful humble man, I remember meeting him in syria back in the days when he played there, I miss the golden age of libanese basketball even in syria we used to watch the league and support Lebanon in every event , I hope we will achieve peace in our regions one day so the corruption would leave us be.. A lot of Love for our humane brothers and sisters in Lebanon and f**** all racists and sectarians.

This was a great talk but the thing I keep missing is the plan. What is the plan? Who has the structure and where do we start - university elections? That’s it? Who are the people we should be listening to for awareness? I agree 100% with everything Fadi said. I’ve been in the states for over 20yrs now and every word Fadi spoke was spot on but what’s next? What is the action plan and what can all of us do to contribute? How do we support the younger generation? How do those of us who never joined any party who are in our 40s now contribute from afar bc we want so badly to be able to be able to build a country worth being proud of and proud to be from. A country that isn’t going to require our own kids to follow the steps we were forced to take to secure an independent, successful future - leaving our country, family and friends.
I enjoy this podcast so much, your guests are all interesting and insightful in their own way, and you know how to make space for them to think and talk, which is a rare quality (even among journalists). I hope you get to make many more episodes. and thank you for putting english subtitles, which allows me to join you after dinner from Zagreb, Croatia.
