  • This is the Stanley 1/2 HP Screw Drive that I bought from eBay several years ago, new in the box, and only installed once - to make this video. This does use the SecureCode radio control system for extra security -TheGarageDoorGeek

Can you program a built in car garage opener to this model? I couldn’t find a learn button

Yes. This one has code switches on the back, so it will train to HomeLink, but may not train to Car2U systems.

I just found out I have a 2000 Stanley screwdrive.
    Has yours been dependable?

Shockingly yes. I have many of them still running perfectly well in my area.

Do you happen to know if the carriage/trollycan be replaced with another brand? I think the teeth in mine are worn away.. stopped working today and makes an awful grinding noise. I am going to check tomorrow if it could be the coupler (if the screw is turning or not) but it very much sounds like the carriage teeth are stripped. I can't find parts for my sd350 anywhere.. wondering if another carriage/trolley might still work. Can't find a thing for this but see lots of genie screw drive trollys on the net for pretty cheap.

Cap'n Jack You *might* be able to find a Stanley carriage somewhere on the interwebs, but no other brand is compatible with it, because of how they’ve done the screw.

@@TheGarageDoorGeek Darn. Thanks alot for the reply. I havent been able to find anything for the SD350 anywhere for what is needed. Looks like a good time to replace with the new quiet options. Take care and thanks for weighing in

Mine was making a racket and then quit. The roll pin that connects the motor to the shaft came out and tore up the framing a bit before breaking. I replaced the roll pin from a harbour freight roll pin kit I had and all is now fine.

Robert Petersen Oof, yeah that’s not a common issue, but I have heard of it before. They should have either used couplers like Genie or permanently attached segments like Chamberlain/Sears.
