I have caught many three to four pounders at the quarries , one of my favorite shore fishing spots. Hipe the new ziplining recreational area does not have a negative effect on the fishing.
I am local to the qaurries and fish nearly every day i can there, from what i've heard from the workers clearing out the land for the zip line is that both the quarries on the south side of the canal will be private property. :(
Fishing is allowed in all the quarries just certain areas are not allowed be ause of the ziplines , i fished amatos quarry yesterday and caught seven lmb
Great video Tony! I spent the day out there today. Burnt to the crisp. Didn’t plan on staying long but we checked all of the quarries. What’s your favorite to fish from shore and boat. I’m definitely going to get familiar with this place. Canceled my Webster trip do to covid. Anyway was glad I received this video this morning!
Rob Simpson very happy to hear you enjoyed this one! Sorry for the late reply, sometimes we miss comments on the older shows. We’ve never shore fished the quarries, only taken the boat out there. Our favorite two lakes for the boat are connected via the channel. The lake with the boat ramp and the bigger one connected to it are the main ones we fish and filmed this one at. There are some big ones in there too! We’ve heard they’ve cleaned up the shorelines nicely around all the lakes now with that park going in. If you have a yak or belly boat or a pond prowler you can fish from those at all the lakes there. Unfortunately only two are accessible via a fishing boat as they only have the one ramp there. Good luck and keep us posted how you do out there!
Old school bassin Good fish! Yeah we had a blast fishing the quarry’s. That place is only going to get better as time goes on. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment, we appreciate it!
Spot on Fishing I seen one of the guys I fish with got 3-4 lb bass back to back but when we went was dingfest 😆 , now we mapping out the fox for fall get them big smallies
Spot on Fishing oswego was good to me by the bridge last year I got my PB smalie there 5lb but never kayaked there we working our way down from Algonquin
great video! I live in Lemont and I'm only 14 so i don't have a car to drive to other lakes so do a lot of fishing here and it is a good fishing spot, also it has a reputation as dirty water with no fish which is completely unaccurate. This is actually kind of a good thing because it will remain pretty secret or should I say unknown for a while.
MegaViper 01 Last year was the first time I was able to fish the old quarry’s. Great forage base. Great fish populations. It’s only going to get keep getting better out there. Thanks for watching and commenting!
What’s it like off the bank? I’m thinking of going there soon. I also heard there is Pickerel in one of the lakes. Would be very interested in catching one of those!
DrFrankensteam Pretty tough bank fishing in the two lakes we filmed on with the boat. The Bluff walls are pretty high from the water in some spots. There are areas that offer some spots closer to the water on those lakes but it’s a long walk. I do believe shore access is easier on the front lakes of the quarry. I haven’t heard about Pickerel being in there, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a few.
Gerber Baby Oh yeah, for sure. The big bluegills and stripers are still there. Crappies have really taken off there. Great numbers and great size too. It is amazing to see how the quarries have been able to sustain such a great, hidden fishery in Illinois. Thanks so much for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment. We appreciate it!
Are able to get through the channel between the two quarries by boat I have a 17 foot lund impact wanted to know if I would be able to access the back part of the lake.
Dale White From what I had seen, fishing from the boat in the little lake with the ramp and then taking the channel to the big lake...in some places the shorelines are rather high off the water line. To me that adds to the challenge for sure. Kris has said that some of the other lakes there are more conducive to shore fishing. A lot of the same presentations we filmed from the boat work for the shore bound anglers. The best advice I could give you for shore fishing Lemont is to stay mobile. Sometimes clearing in the shore line opportunities are a good distance to walk to, but being mobile is the key to finding fish there. I remember shortly after we filmed this show, I had the opportunity to fish a small bass tournament out here. After the event while we were eating some food, I was watching a guy, from shore, just across from the boat ramp catch a few from shore.
Frank C Wow, I honestly didn’t know they were that big of an issue there. I know we’ve seen them at the Quarries but didn’t know there was that many. There’s a pond we fish often in Plainfield that has a ton of them. Knock on wood, they haven’t gotten territorial on us yet, thankfully they usually slide off the other direction. Knowing they’ll get that way, I’ll try and keep some distance if we see one staying put and holding its ground.
Fish here all the time all the quarries largest fish was over 7lbs average catch is around 3-4lb, but being part of the forest preserve when did they allow gas motored boats in the water even if the Motor is trimmed up and not in the water
Absolutely! Still an amazing fishery. Try some of the baits we threw in this show, you’ll catch fish. The water is quite high and churned up right now but we’re still catching fish. Good luck.
You talk of how to properly handle a fish you gill hook but you proceed to man handle and toss almost every fish you catch. Wet hands and proper release. Lead my example and educate. You're fishing my home quarry and i cringed every time you mishandled a fish.

Fucking zipline.. way to ruin the area for the true outdoor enthuisists.. wtf

I used to fish the quarries long before they were legal to access. 5lb bass were very common.
dennis mindock They're still there for sure.
the quarries have a bad rep for bass but I've seen some big ones caught.
Another good video! Keep it up! Cannot wait for some of the new ones! Hope to meet up sometime soon!

Federico Mijares The old quarries off the DesPlaines River. The entrance is near Turnabout Pizza in Lemont.

Spot on Fishing Lol! I stopped the video right before you asked about shore spots! And didn’t come back to watch the rest of it until now!
I use to fish and swim the quarries back in the 70's n 80's. Use to get some nice jumbo bluegills and a few strippers some decent crappie also.

Dale White I'm going tonight
Last time got just one on a Savage Gear Suicide Duck
Frank C Oh wow! Did not realize the snakes are a problem there

Two fish ? Great 👍 and on video to prove it! What other fish are in the quarries tony?
Rob Simpson Quite a few speices, Crappie, Bluegill, Catfish and Carp.
I saw Crappie and Bluegill caught besides the bass obviously...
You still fish the quarries? Ive been using worms and havent caught anything the 3 times ive been
Absolutely! Still an amazing fishery. Try some of the baits we threw in this show, you’ll catch fish. The water is quite high and churned up right now but we’re still catching fish. Good luck.
Now that's what you call a double up @8:50

#HighwayBassin Video!
lyubakavideo Awesome! Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
So what were you fishing the I and M canal
Andrew Porter No, this is the Lemont Quarry. Not far from the I and M.
Do you know what road it's on because I live over there and I'm looking for a new place to fish
Andrew Porter It is just off of Talcott and Main st. I&MC Trail Passage in the GPS should get you there.
A little recon job I see. ;-)
Rick Rivera For sure! LOL!
