Ian's been the laughing stock of the show recently. I liked this scene, it was nice to finally see him to stand up for himself. I can’t help but feel bad for Bobby. Yes, he killed his sister, which is beyond unforgivable (and certainly not the sort of thing that people forget), but he’s just a boy. He’s more than paid for it. Look at the dozens of things that others on EastEnders have done, mostly adults, as well as grown teenagers, and yet they all have the front and cheek to judge Bobby (who is just a kid)! They need to all think about the mistakes that they’ve made before continuing to judge Bobby for what he’s done. Just give him a chance, he’s not a bad person. Just learn how to forgive and forget (like Max has done with him). He’s suffered enough.
I had Ian Beale down for many things, but a casual bigot definitely wasn't one of them. If Ian can forgive his brother for unintentionally killing someone then why can't he do the same for Bobby? He is a failed father who failed all his kids: - He assaulted Cindy and threw her out on the street just for wearing Lucy's top (this was shortly after Lucy had died). - He has disowned Steven, Lucy, Peter, and now Bobby. - I remember him saying some vile stuff to Steven and now Bobby. - He had thrown out Steven (in 2008 and 2016), Peter (in 2014), and now Bobby. Kathy should've also slapped Ian. If I was Kathy I'd announce that Ian is no son of mine!
You didn't see the episode, Dennis googled Islamic extremism on Bobby's laptop to frame him for going on terrorist websites, Ian then saw that and they had the police round for a chat, if you see that after someone has killed your daughter of course you're going to think he's a psycho, I can't blame Ian honestly, it isn't bigotry to disown a murderer who you believe is trying to join a terrorist group and then they start saying you're the bad one. I think people are being far too harsh on Ian. Yes he’s FAR from a perfect father and has failed a lot but his children aren’t exactly warm hearted angels...are people forgetting that Steven shot his wife Jane which resulted in her being unable to ever have children and after that he tried to trap Lauren from leaving him by getting her pregnant but all the while shagging her sister and getting her pregnant and THEN pretending to have a brain tumour!! He chose to still care and protect bobby which is ultimately what pushed his son Peter away because he couldn’t handle that his little brother killed his (Peter) twin sister and that Ian and Jane weren’t going to do anything about it. Whilst him throwing Cindy out for wearing Lucy’s top was very harsh he was a grieving father and Cindy wasn’t showing any respect for the fact that Lucy had just died and it might have looked like Cindy was trying to take Lucy’s place. And Bobby....yes he was a child and he didn’t mean to kill Lucy but really...to whack her over the head with a heavy hard music box!!!?? That’s not right, but that wasn’t his only offence, he also pushed Jane down the stairs and paralysed her from the waist down after everything she did to protect him. Don’t get me wrong Ian does act like such a toe rag sometimes but this must be so difficult for him, to still love and accept your child who killed your other child and for Bobby to act all high and mighty and forgetting that Ian might have been trying to forgiven him but he has by no means forgotten what he did was a step too far.
