Why do I watch videos of people doing things I would NEVER want to do?? Because, somehow, they're soothing as hell. Timmy's a good guy too, which helps.
Exactly.
Oh it’ll be fine, do something like this if you ever get the chance! Maybe you’d like it, if not, most of these basic things aren’t that imitating after a person does it, so if it’s ever a necessity you’d know how!
Me too. 😅
100% and it makes ZERO sense but I love it. Also the production on these videos are amazing, just like sickos or mav. Soothing af
Give it a try it might be a thing or another that you love doing never know.
Ya know Timmy, I don't really care if you post a house build video, truck house video, snowmobiling video, whitewater rafting video, etc. I just enjoy watching your content! Keep up the great work and post whatever you want, because I'll always watch no matter what.
Thanks duder
I've built 3 houses from the ground up for myself. It can be an intimidating tough job if you don't know what you're doing but soooo rewarding once you move in. One tip finish EVERYTHING before you move in or it won't ever get done
That's quite an accomplishment. As well as good advice, but we both know that building something as grand as a house, it's never really done. 😁
I agree with this. I’ve seen so many occupied houses with just Tyvek vapor barrier and no siding. Looks horrible.
FYI ya got that sani tee backwards on that tie in. Looks good though!!!
I second this, I moved into a house that was done for all intents and purposes except for the master bedroom addition, a whole 2 seasons later it's just now getting done 😂
I still can't believe how you know how to do so many things Timmy. Amazing 🤩 ps... not boring watching you make the house up.. in fact it's quite exciting seeing how it all comes together. What could be more lovely than making a lovely home 😊 Well done Timmy.
@@IgorMironov-rq4ye my name isn't Cassandra or Clarice. I don't know what you're talking about.
Timmy, you’re one of the most humble people out there. Skilled in several trades, creative, and motivated yet I’ve never heard you boast or brag.
I'm glad you finally turned that vent tee over the right direction for venting before you glued it. (9:53) My OCD was in kicking into overdrive. Good job on the build. You will never starve when you know how to work with your hands.
Me too 😁, I kept talking to Timmy through the TV...."turn it over" before you glue it
I"m glad someone else was thinking that too! I kept telling myself "He can't hear you yelling through the screen", at a video that was recorded long before I watched it no less - and I was like "I bet he hasn't screwed that fu@#ing stove back in place in the camper yet either!" - I need medication.
I’m a 62 year old woman who is thoroughly enjoying watching you build while your truck house was in the shop! Keep it up 🙂
Look at that view from the deck! Breathtaking! 🏔🏔
Consider adding an electrical receptacle where your toilets are in case you’d like to treat you’re with a heated bidet!
Timmy, your house is looking amazing in this picture. A straight-up mansion.
Calm down 😂
@susansuarez343 ohhh ok Susan...😂😂 couldn't think of anything that made sense so turn to feminist retaliation calling a man "creep" for telling you to calm down? Ohh ok. Lol.
@@LivingforHimJesus nah that paragraph proved susan was right, you a creep.
Nice work 👍.
Timmy if you have not enclosed the bath tub/s be sure that before you do you somehow insulate the tub exterior and cavity so that when filled with hot water the hot water remains as warm as possible for as long as possible.
When your friend who helped with the plumbing comes over to hang out, you two should use the top deck.
This way you can say you have a Fiddler on the Roof
(A bit obscure, I know, but the Googles will get ya there)
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻💯🎻 on the roof🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy all you're videos, no matter what's going on
Wow that cabin looks like a dream... Love the style of architecture.
Cabin?
I'm always impressed with people who can do shit I can't do.
Dude i tip my cap to you. I thought building two walk-in closets was bad enough. But you're building a whole freaking house.
I’m loving the build! You will certainly never be accused of being boring. Seems like you were made for UA-cam. Your home is going to be gorgeous, comfortable and warm. I could never call this build a “cabin”.
LOL NOPe not a Cabin....a Palace!!! lol
Mini mansion . More work than i want too do . Ive already built 2 houses & my bad back wont allow fun projects like this ,
My 36" countertops have the top of the trim plate at 12". Going higher would start getting pretty close to the cabinets. Definitely don't want 20".
Yep. My upper cabinets are only 20" above the counter top.
Make sure you have electric plugs on deck, too. Lights and fire pit are great. You may want to string lights in the winter or add music
Timmy.. Countertops in kitchen are 36-37 from finished floor.. Bottom of upper wall cabinets are usually 54 to the bottom. So roughly 18 inches between them. Outlets are centered on that.. So 36+9 to center of rough-in box. Plus the 1-3/4 to the top of the boxes. 47 to top of box from finished floor is a good number..
8-10 inches from the counter top. Upper cabinets are usually 18-20 inches from the counter top.
18-20 didn’t make any sense to me wither
Timmy, I built a house 1/2 that size in 1987. I get overwhelmed just wondering how I did it all, mostly by myself, sometimes one friend or my Dad giving me a hand. I I was 27 then and super tough and strong, now almost 64, tuckered out, lol. Glad you’re doing it now, you’ll have a long time before you can’t climb the stairs. It would literally cost me 10-15 times as much today as then. I had mine paid for in about 7 years, busting my butt. I have continued to add some, remodeled some, etc, but there’s probably few things as satisfying as building your own home then owning it one day. I’m jacked up with fibromyalgia and back trouble now, so I’d be in hot water if I hadn’t but the bullet at a young age, looking good!
This home is an oasis and all you can need or want! Excellent build!
Really loving the house building content as much as the truck house content.
Howdy Timmy! Almost to 500,000 ….wow! Keep on trucking and saddle up !
It's reallly good to see that you are healthy and thriving @ Truck House Life although I must admit you reallly blew my mind the day we all went snowmobiling, ghost riding and para sailing all in one of your videos. I have never been able to find that video again. I would bookmark it if I could find it. The air time was awesome!!! Timmy if you remember the video hook us up so we can view it again. >@^_*@
Everything you do is an adventure, thanks for taking us along.
20” above countertop sounds rather high for outlets. I would think 12”would be better. 18” from countertop to bottom of upper cabinets is the standard height. The upper cabinet box would cover the outlet / receptacle at 20 inches.
Agreed 100%
cords on appliances are getting shorter
no your big nose does that
I love the house building videos. I cannot wait to see the finished product. And I can't wait to see how you decorate it
They’re coming!
Awesome video as always Timmy. The cabin is becoming more and more awesome.
By now SNOW is a 4 letter word in AK. Winter is just too long.
Nice place. You might should ought to have a big neighborhood party or two this summer, on the flat roof. Make the neighbors love it, cause you're gonna need help in a few years after a couple of winters. Anyways, party on Tim.
Timmy I think you could do anything that comes to your mind and it would be interesting. I’ve enjoyed every aspect of your journey. You inspire us to try new things and get out there. Love what you are doing my friend.
When placing your electric receptacles you compensated for trim and wall thickness but what about flooring? It looked like you placed them at minimum code height from the subfloor and not the to-be finished floor.
Take a look into the canless LED lights, that's all we install anymore, less costly than the old cans by the time you do trim and bulbs. Simple to install, just map where your wires are, we snap lines and drill the holes after drywall is up but before mudding, taping, and texture. Although you'll snap your fingers a few times with the damn spring levers that hold them in. Lol The better ones have multi selectable lumen levels, some even have a night light ring that is activated by a quick on/off flick of the switch. Those are real nice especially when you have frequent guests, we had a client go with them in various areas because he's frequently hosting folks on religious missions.
Yesssss , I love the house build vids. So many cool features you're working on
Timmy about to have the coolest bachelor crib in all of Alaska. Hell yeah.
No Sheetrock for fire protection, it’s your house, not judging you, I love your build, will honk when going by
I was so happy you fired up that amazing wood stove.
That gripstrut strip at the entry door is brilliant!
I wish I had your knowledge and skills! I’m lucky to remember to put the seat down in the bathroom!
Do you forget to put the seat down for yourself before you sit? I don't get it
@@LF12468 you’re not married are you?
I don't get what being married has to do with you forgetting to put a toilet seat down before you take a shit. Are you ok?
@@donaldnorth3714 Oh I get it. You're one of those guys that sit to pee and take orders from feminist wives. What a miserable existence you have.
@@donaldnorth3714 If it is like that then thank God I'm not. Do you allow her to put other restrictions on you voluntarily? That's more like your mother right?
Hey Tim. I have been watching your videos for a few weeks and I have told other people about them. I really admire you for doing what you do especially on those dangerous roads in below freezing temperatures. You have created an original idea and no one is like your channel which definitely makes you unique. I found the videos kind of by accident. I was watching bush craft videos and one day one of your videos came up in my You tube search on my TV and after watching the first video I was hooked. Now I want to get a camper and travel and I definitely want to visit Alaska and see some of the things I have seen in your videos. I love the channel and I plan to join as a member. Thank you for all your hard work and thank you for being good to your subscribers/members. You are a wonderful person and I hope someday maybe I can see your truck and meet u in real life when I'm up that way. Take care my friend and keep up the good work
Feel proud. This is a hell of an accomplishment. You have worked SO hard. Bravo!
Thanks!
was driving and saw your cool ass build from the road! i looked to my left and i was like no fucking way that’s THE truckhouselife cabin build
Looks like your dreams are coming true! Good job, it sure is a complicated way to live compared to your old truck house life!
Yes it is slick outside. Don't know what you do with your ashes from the stove but you should be spreading them on your drive and or beside the walkway on the snow piles. They make the snow melt much faster and promote greener grass and flowers. I've been doing it for years on my driveway. Just a little tidbit of different info.
I like your little car Tim. Pretty practical for when the trucks down or just to run to town.
Love the home content Timmy - it's really coming along. Thanks for sharing.
of course! thank u!
I was stationed at JBER for a couple years and miss it every day. So jealous of your setup, Turnagain arm stays undefeated!!
Your house is coming along amazing!! you might want to consider under cabinet power strips so your backsplash isn’t broken up by outlets
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
The only flatroofed home I've ever liked!
Timmy I’m a sales rep for Lochinvar Boilers. Look up the Noble Combi boiler. It can do your radiant heat and has an internal heat exchanger for instantaneous hot water for showers/sinks. I can probably get you a good discount if you’re interested.
Tim congratulations on taking on building a house and doing most of the work very big project!! Your doing a fine job pat yourself on the back. And remember there’s only one way to eat a elephant one bite at a time
Says 'I don't want the TV to be the focal point.' Proceeds to describe a very focus-worthy TV setup. 😁
Right in front of two windows too, awful location for it 😂
Timmy thanks for your discount code at Complete Auto,i just ordered front and rear fox 2.0’s for my truck.97 F350 XLT crew cab, long bed with power stroke diesel.Couldnt find them anywhere until these guys sized me up 👊👊
Only issue with doing just one u wont be able to snake both sides from the roof. Think of the sweeps going in the direction u would snake it.
Amazon smart LED lights would be perfect, like $300, you could do the whole spot and use color schemes.. Walk in, say turn on lights for X X or whatever, and can do up to 100 dif colors.. I use soft orange during night and a bright light in day. If im watchin movies, i use purple in ceiling
cool:)
You should use scrap wood that's 3/4" to quickly mark your pieces instead of using a tape measurer ;)
Same for measuring to the floor, make a jig, rinse and repeat...
LOVE anything YOU do....because its insanely addictive to watch, Not to mention SOON to yourlist of HATS you wear.....LANDLORD...omg, you one busy Dude...lol Keep the stoke Timmie and that GAS line to your outdoor firepit was too easy.....and as you say....WERE rolling!!! Shout to Timmies Dad and Mom for his work ethic....( you dont get anywhere in life without hard work....Cheers, and looking forward to see what you do on the inside....Cozy Cozy ...the view from your DECK is Killer...I see the mountains, the water....and the STARS....omg!!! Warmest of regards, 1000 islands Canada
Cool house and all, but those are the most awesome crocks I’ve ever seen.
Tim, the code is the placement of the GFCI outlet can go anywhere up to 20 inches from the countertop.
If you use home automation tricks, you can turn on one light, kitchen, and it will in turn fire up a bunch of under cabinets, over cabs, dining room, etc all without any special wiring and what not.
Hollyyyyyyyyyyy that rooftop deck is amazing
You have awsome design of your home good layout an spacious with stunning views 360 degree's awsome job
Ward flex or flexible gas line is the best thing since the internet lol I started using it back in 2001 n never looked back!
For the stair case lights and room lights or a hall way light you could use a " Wechselschaltung " thats a 2 way switch so you can always switch on and off where ever you are...Unfortunately i don't know the US term for it ..but the shematic will pop up in Wikipedia
too late now but for the gas line I would have left a loop of line below the pit. just in case you need more length. for the outlet boxes you should have made a "story stick" that would save you time measuring for each box. in your case you would use a 3/4" stick maybe 4" wide(could be finished 1x4), however long, say 18". then at 15 1/4" up the stick tack, screw another length of lumber at right angle. the story stick will be your jig to mark placement of the outlet boxes. you will need to fill in the top cross piece so you can use it like a square. place the story stick on the stud, it will be the right distance out for the box. place the box flush with the stick and up against the top cross piece and nail the box in. done no measuring! great job doing all the building almost by yourself!!! 🤙
Love the house build!!! HAHA.... also love your "pretty cool" endings on descriptions. lol
Plumbing doesn't look too hard. Carpentry i think is the hardest of the trades
You want to wire your countertop receptacle to about 8” to the bottom of the box…20” would be inside your cupboard….we just remodeled our kitchen and thats where ours are, I dont think there is a code except for GFI near water. We did all of ours GFI. Luv the way you did your inventory list for electrical! Exactly how I would have.😊 Great video Tim!
Love watching your stuff. The house is gonna be incredible.
Love the content, thanks so much.
Both Tim and his father build amazing houses all by themselves. Very impressive.
Hey man. We use weather proof boxes for all the outdoor outlets. Just a little fyi. I live in Maine and we get weather. But your in Alaska, you’d definitely want weather boxes for outdoor outlets. But rock on man 🤘
Crazy to think that your first ever video on YT was 16 years ago 😮😮
Holy that’s a lot of work building a house good job Timmy
20” above countertop is way too high. I go only a few inches above the backsplash. Your standard small kitchen appliance only has a 2’ cord. Code also requires no more than 4’ apart. And atleast 2 countertop dedicated circuits. And of course gfi protected.
I love the look of this cabin. It’s different in a good way. The outside will be as nice as the inside.❤
One word "jig", use for box height and depth far easier then measuring everytime!
From your truck home to a really big real home you've taken on quite the project but it's going to be well built and beautiful when you're done cause that's how you do it! Keep on keepin on.
Enjoy every moment...
My kitchen outlets are only 4.5" from the top of my counter to the bottom of the outlet. Building codes must be different. I do love to watch these types of videos. My biggest problem is I start thinking I can do it. Planning and patience are not my strong-suit.
Greetings Timmy..spring is slow in coming to The Yukon Territory..+10C today..thankyou for the grrrreat videos !!😊❤😊
Omg 2 seconds in and holy crap that house is AMAZING!!!!!
The roof top deck is awesome Timmy.
Hi Timmy. Really enjoy the building content. Keep up the good work. You re getting there. ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
This series is fantastic, i love watching all of the planning and figuring things out without me having to do a thing. After 25 years of being a homeowner i am all done with projects. Selling and going back to renting in a nice building where someone else can fix things! Can’t wait to see the finished house.
The house content is awesome! Love the differences each week! :) :)
with multiple floors you will want to have a sub panel to supply the 3rd and top deck. nothing more annoying than to accidentally flip a breaker and have to go all the way down to garage to reset it. That and it cuts down on wiring since your not having to run so much wire all the way down to one big fuse box.
I second your advice for multiple sub panels
Hey, hope you're fine ? Not sure in the USA, but in Canada counters, top outlets are normally 42 inches from the floor 😊 54" for switches and 60" for thermostats very nice house and project. I love it BTW
Amazing video can't wait to see the finished result!
Hi Timmy mate , nice 600 bucks little runabout 🤘🤠 ,the truck is gonna love the new parts ,especially transfer case and diff , she'll be cruising soon and we can see that battery snowbike of yours ,it was too deep last time i seen ya have a go 🤠🤘🙏🇬🇧
Did you account for the thickness of whatever flooring will be used when calculating the height of the receptacle?
Your porch outlet has to be GFI also. Usually people put outside outlets where bathrooms are because they use GFI in bathroom for power out. Required to have outside outlets front and back of house
This is awesome, really looking forward to more vids, such a stunning house and location, not jealous at all
Wow!! I bet your mom is so proud of you! You’re a great kid! I’m an 74 year old grandma and great grandma, so I would know! ❤😂
Hi Timmy. Im a 77 yr. Old woman, and i love all your videos. Please keep them coming. Lovong your pad.
Love the videos of the house and your travels thank you for sharing it with us all and thanks from Fort Worth texas
6 feet is code here in NY. Using an Estwing hammer for receptacle height works and eliminates having to measure them. Lots quicker.
The house looks great Tim it's a lot of work but it's all worth it
