Great video man! I work at a construction company and we have a 988K that goes with our crushing plant. That 994 is huge though!! We don't have the big mining trucks, just 2 off road trucks and a bunch of semi trucks that pull Michigan gravel trains. Thanks again!!
When I was a kid in the 60's 40 ton Euclids and 7-10 yard shovels were state of the art in Minnesota. Cat had just come out with the 5 yd 988, the first loader that could be considered a mining duty loader. Times sure have changed.
And once again justin! fantastic vid! that 94 is one fine girl! I know from experience! in a phosphate mine! ;-) here in idaho! loadin traincars! Goo steelers!!! WOOT WOOT!
I can’t help but think a that a large front shovel would be faster. I know that price is a huge factor in mining these days. But a 3 pass shovel would be way more efficient. Love these vids though, and loved watching.
Where does all this overburden get stockpiled? or is it used to chase finished cuts in the mine? How does one get a job as an operator in a place like this, is it a union shop?
Those chains are welded on to protect the front tires from sharp rocks deep gauges deflates and traction to dig in with the huge electric drive force it makes.
994F is so giant!.. I'm not a professional miner but digging such a tall horizon looks dangerous. Is it usual operation? Aren't they afraid of fallen of big masses of dirt?
There are D11's up top pre-stripping clay and shoving it down to the 994. As long as a dozer is pushing down to a loader, digging near a bank that high is fine, but naturally the operator has to be careful
No insult here at all, but I'm amazed at the increase in frequency the question "isnt that dangerous" gets asked over the last 20 years. I've even heard little kids saying "what if I get hurt" when asked to join the game of kickball or something. This was something I never heard once when I was a kid. Yes, we all broke a bone or had some stitches by the time we grew up, but we were fine. How are kids doing today? Safety is obviously important, but at what point is it becoming an irrational obsession that will leave us helpless and unable to do anything but office jobs? I've seen situations in woodworking shops for example where extreme eye protection actually increased the risk of losing a finger, hand, or arm due to the safety glasses and a face shield causing distortion in depth perception. Some lawyer or insurance man must have said, well if one layer of protection is good than 2 must be better, so it's a shop rule when everyone on the floor is put at increased risk. You know how they mark the evolutionary steps of mankind with like Upright man, etc. and our latest Homo Hablis (tool man) I feel we are crossing over in to a new one, Safety man. This might be where it finally ends and we go extinct, all sitting on our couches with helmets, 2 layers of eye protection and wrapped in bubble wrap just waiting for our heart attacks. It was a logical question and no disrespect towards you is meant.
The purpose of the chains is to protect the front tires from getting cut by sharp rocks. Tires are one of the most expensive components on a loader of this size.
It helps the Cat and mechanical drive trucks here that the dust is very abrasive and magnetic. If it gets into moving electrical stuff it wreaks havoc. Maintenance here varies by company, but considering the service IMHO it's generally pretty good.
Big old trucks but the 994 jockey knows his stuff. I like to see full buckets. That's where you get something done! Good one!
love how the 994f is loading lectra haul mt 4400 haul trucks another good video from justin.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, and yes the 994 is one big machine! The 988 is a great machine and very popular for quarrying operations.
Good operator, full buckets and nice short carry.
Yes!!!!!! she sure is a BEAST! thanks for posting and keep them coming. Take care.
Thanks; glad you enjoyed it!

What a monster Justin, great video mate. Liked.
Thanks!

johan alin l agree he is a good. Operator
wow so amazing to see this giant 994f at work and its impressive nice work man more please !!!
And once again justin! fantastic vid! that 94 is one fine girl! I know from experience! in a phosphate mine! ;-) here in idaho! loadin traincars! Goo steelers!!! WOOT WOOT!
Haha, thanks man and glad you enjoyed it!
I have the 1/50 scale model of that loader it's the biggest one I have
Very good att big truck 👍👍👍👍👍

I’ve been in lots of 88s and 92s ....but damn!
Where does all this overburden get stockpiled? or is it used to chase finished cuts in the mine? How does one get a job as an operator in a place like this, is it a union shop?
Overburden stripped above the coal is used to backfill areas of the mine previously exhausted of coal, which is part of reclamation.
no smoke i like it
Is that 994 programmed? Or is that one heck of an operator?
It has a lot of automatic functions, such as automatic boom lower and leveling system, but all those functions are useless without a skilled operator
Thank you for that.
Excellent my friend !!!
When you have to take out a 2nd mortgage to just put Antifreeze in your gardening equipment ... 😒👌👍😊🤣😂
How often does the Face collapse and trap the Loader ?
Never. There are D11's up top pushing the clay down to him
so powerfull machine
awesome video never seen tires like that on the front of the loader
twister563 it’s got chains on.
Those chains are welded on to protect the front tires from sharp rocks deep gauges deflates and traction to dig in with the huge electric drive force it makes.
The Cummins motors are hooked up to hydro electric drive motors, four of them independently for each tire to power it and move that beast.
so how old are the trucks then, they must have a few hours on the clock
nice! big iron!
A great video. you have been slacking lately? or busy working?
Busy with work and other things. Glad you enjoyed it; have not forgotten about anyone!
994F is so giant!..

what size motor is in unit rig mt-4400s
Cummins KTTA-50C in older units, QSK 60 in newer Terex units.
does the chains help it get more traction
The purpose of the chains is to protect the front tires from getting cut by sharp rocks. Tires are one of the most expensive components on a loader of this size.
+PAmining oh ok thank you.
How many tons will them trucks haul?
Those are 240 ton trucks
I heard that.
What type of horn is on the loader? Is it electric ?
C B75 nah its powered by jet fuel bro.....
C B75 Air horn
High reach model to load a 4400? Around here (Minnesota) these 994's have been found to be much more reliable than the LeTourneaus..
Yes. And regarding the Letourneau's, I've always heard good things about them.
It helps the Cat and mechanical drive trucks here that the dust is very abrasive and magnetic. If it gets into moving electrical stuff it wreaks havoc. Maintenance here varies by company, but considering the service IMHO it's generally pretty good.
Que me gustan las maquina. ejemplo bulldozer D7 D8 D9 Cat y komatsu i cargadores frontales 966 asta el 990 Cat i komatsu camiones 769 asta el 773 cat
why chains on the tires?
The chains save the tread of the tires a little better and they help the loader dig in the shots
The chains protect the tires from getting cut by sharp rocks
Rock its very sharp to distroy the tires..
Nice easy mucking...
2, v16 engines?
She's a lookin good a there little fellers an I a like to see a scooper wif the four smokers. Four smokers.
I love the big boys, but that's a boring, tedious job..
