    I’m a brand new official in Ohio for this year. Never done this before, and it’s videos like this one that is going to help me learn so much quicker!!! Thank you so much! Excellent explanation on things. I know ohio and Utah has some differences in how things are done, but for the most part this has been very helpful!!

    Im 19 and going to be a new official next year. I have only umpired baseball and I never played football so I have a lot to learn. I mirrored a crew last night for some feedback as well as a chance to ask some questions. The White hat told me most likely they will start me as a head linesman next year so I can learn how to work the chains. I was curious, can you do a video solely focused on the HL position? I think it would help a lot. Thank you.

    Thank you for posting this, I find it very helpful. Is there anywhere to get more info on four man mechanics?

    In the situation about the 12:00 mark, as respects ruling on whether or not a dumped pass reaches the line of scrimmage, would not the U be the logical one to be responsible for that?

    • @mlfurm
      @mlfurm  Рік тому

      Yes it would. It is the U's primary responsibility. However, we wanted the wings to help out on it, particularly as it was the first year of the rule change. But yes, you are correct.

      Do we really want to take our eyes off our downfield receiver and turn 180 to look for the pass? That creates too much of a chance for us to be miss action downfield I feel. Not to mention, if you have already turned your hips and trying to look backwards is not going to give a good look.

    At the 43:16 mark..looks like #58(?) comes out on the field during a live ball. Can you have illegal participation?

    • @TombedOrchestra
      @TombedOrchestra Рік тому +1

      He didn't influence the play, so not illegal participation. It would be illegal substitution 3-7-6, 5 yd penalty.

      @@TombedOrchestra would you flag that or just throw a flag for sideline warning or just talk to them.

      @@rogalskyj I’m a first year official, so I’d probably tell him to stay off the field and then tell the coach to keep his team in the box. Next time throw the flag. They shouldn’t even be in the restricted area much less on the field. But I’m sure some officials with more experience might have a different perspective and throw the flag right away. There really was no excuse for that… he could see the play was still going on and he just walks right into the field.

    The line judge is watching the ball not his keys on the first play.
