Thanks for watching. A perennial in warmer climates, yacon is not cold tolerant and grows best in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 5 to 8. That being said, yacon tubers cultivated in cooler climates as an annual may still do fairly well, but plants will produce fewer tubers and be smaller than in their native habitat.
They are not grown from seeds. I ordered 2 Yacon Rhizomes online and they grow from the Rhizomes. If you order one Rhizome and plant it, it takes 6 to 7 months till you harvest. When you harvest, there will be several Rhizomes for the next season.
