- An MGM made trailer for it's own collection of James Bond videos featuring clips of all the films up until 1989 (not including rival Bond film Never Say Never Again or 1967's Casino Royale). One of the best bits of editing I've ever seen. I wish I had made this...
I remember this trailer with my VHS copy of Goldeneye - Brilliant then and even better now!
Yes me too !!! Great editing !!!
Same!! That was the first Bond film I saw then seeing there were so many of them was so exciting back then. Spent my time trolling the TV Quick for any i hadn’t seen. You Only Live Twice came next
Great trailer for VHS
Same
Looking for a little peace and quiet?...Didn't think so!. "You have...a nasty habit... of surviving!"."Brace yourself!". "A Martini!". "Dry Martini, Lemon peel!". "Shaken!"."Shaken!". "Shaken!". "Shaken but!"."Not stirred!". "Oh...That's er...stirred not shaken, that was right?"."She's just coming,Sir!". "I Think he's attempting re-entry,Sir!"."Good evening,Mr Bond!"."Good evening Mr Bond!"."Bonjour,Mr Bond!". "Goodbye Mr Bond!"."This is the part I really like!". "You expect me to talk?". "No,Mr Bond,I Expect you to die!"."Who are you?." "My name's Bond!"."James Bond!". "Bond,James Bond!"."Bond...James Bond!".The Original Action Adventure Hero...James Bond.
This sums up my childhood right here.
Quality! I remember this on the old Goldeneye VHS.
But it’s also depressing now knowing how James Bond has since turned out. Imagine throwing into this trailer clips of the abomination that is ‘No Time to Die’ and see how shite it would look. Same for most of the Daniel Craig collection. R.I.P James Bond (and I mean to proper Bond movies, not the fact that he might have died at the end of the last film, or whatever wank it was in the end…am trying my best to forget it ever happened!)
I appreciate your comments and I'm glad you like this trailer.
I'd have to argue in favour of No Time to Die. Whilst far from perfect, it was a damned sight more interesting the either Spectre or Skyfall which were flawed at the script stage and Quantum of Solace which was still being written as they shot it - sometimes by the actors themselves. At least the script for No Time to Die was coherent, even if it needed a bloody good going over with a red marker pen.
I'm certain on UA-cam somewhere, if it doesn't get a copyright block, there will be a fan-made trailer for No Time to Die that shows off it's best bits.
Here's to the next film. James Bond will Return. (It even says so in the end credits for No Time to Die.)
@@dangale123 we will have to agree to disagree with each other on No Time to Die I think. I like to think I’m a James Bond purist, read all the books and seen all the films multiple times, and the sheer thought of No Time to Die fills me with utter rage. Absolutely despise it on every level. Whilst Spectre, Quantum of Solace etc (even the latter Brosnan one’s) are all shockingly bad films in their own right, they just don’t even come to the same level of sheer hatred that I have for No Time.
I don’t really class any of the last half dozen films as proper Bond as they are so far detached from Ian Fleming’s creation as it’s possible to get, but just *shudders*, No Time to Die took it to the next level and beyond. I hope that dogshit ending is actually the final ending if the next film will be anything like it.
HD REMAKE!
well theirs this i suppose ua-cam.com/video/Ei7qX8sNtdU/v-deo.html
No, I'm saying this trailer - made to advertise the films when VHS was the only option - is more professionally edited, more amusing, more skillfully put together than the one used to currently advertise the DVDs of the Bond films. The current trailer is not as good.
I think he's attempting re-entry, sir.
The living daylights cover was epic, I remember this trailer from when i was a kid, amazing!
If I had to pick 3 actors who played the role of James Bond.
1. Sean Connery
2. Timothy Dalton
3. Pierce Brosman.
And of course Daniel Craig.
Oh, how I miss this... Loved watching these clips before a Bond video. Would be fantastic if someone did an updated version for the DVD range, possibly including Craig?
I remember as a very young kid I was only familiar with Brosnan’s version until I seen this on the VHS of Goldeneye.
Blew my mind that there was different versions of Bond! Incredible.
This was my childhood this trailer!
Gives you chills!
1:06 Good evening Mr Bond
1:22 Best bit!
yOU HAVE nasty habbit of surviving - that quote describe BOND in nutshell
"This is the part I really like!"
Remember when I was first introduced to James Bond this is the clip I saw, how can you not be hooked 😂
I remember buying the VHS set in the 90's and this was the highlight of watching each film for me, the trailer!!! Brilliant cut of all the films
Those first 30 seconds are just perfectly edited. Love it.
It hasn't appeared on any DVDs yet, it was included on the 1996 VHS releases. It's very good, only Sky Movies' recent trailers for their Bond Channel have come anywhere near this kind of creative editing.
Excellent montage. I know it was made for VHS home video, but imagine seeing this preview on the big screen. Just imagine.
Nostalgia at its finest
Ah, I remember the days of getting my vhs collection complete. No idea where they all are now. At least I have two dvd collections and some blu rays.
Compare this ad to the Blu Ray collection trailer. This ad makes an effort to make Bond distinctive; Girls, gadgets, and colorful villains. The latter ad just places an emphasis on the action.
Every bond film pre 1989 except from russia with love ?
That's in there. The 007 at 0:17 and and bellydancer at 0:40 for example.
What a classic superb Mr Bond!!!
@dangale
It was. Only because there was a different version of it was made for the US VHS releases, but it was shorter, and it had a different montage. I wish it was made again, with the clips from the current films added to it (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, and Quantum Of Solace).
I remember owning two Bond videos that had this trailer (I taped the rest of them off the television) and this trailer alone got me hyped into wanting to see more Bond movies at the age of 6 (Y)
This is the montage they should've played at the Oscars for the 60 years of Bond tribute, instead of that mediocre one.
The editor create it in London and it was on the start of UK PAL VHS tapes of Bond films from 1996. I don't know if it was exclusive to the UK or not.
The first 30 seconds of this trailer is the definition of 'badass'!
Goldeneye must've not been released on VHS at the time the collection was created.
Where it all started for me goldeneye vhs
Best Bond trailer ever. And I'm not even a Bond fan, either.
Hi Peter. Not to my knowledge. I had most of them and it wasn't any different on any of the other tapes. I think it was edited in 4:3. You could ask youtube user doublezoinks, he edited it back in 1996.
A lot better than the shitty one they made for the Bond50 BluRay Set, they made Craig look like walking on a treadmill.
Lois...
Why have you picked your name to be that!? Moonraker is a bit silly but it's well made, it's not as flat and uninteresting as The Man With the Golden Gun, which doesn't have any excitement in it at all! Maybe you should be called "Moonraker is ok considering...."
I'm sure it is. But it doesn't have as impressive a trailer as this. I'm not trying to advertise the DVDs or VHSs, I'm highlighting this great bit of editing.
Needs more cowbell, lol.
The music from 00:07 til 00;37 is 'gunbarrel' from the For Your Eyes Only soundtrack, it's therefore the first bit of music featured in that film.
Well, there have been several films called Casino Royale: a TV drama in 1954, a spoof comedy in 1967 and Daniel Craig's 2006 adaptation. The book was 1953. You're right, this trailer is awesome. i wish I'd made it...
My god I feel sorry for the people who couldn't wait at least 2 to 9 years for the much better DVDs with special features and flawless picture. Imagine how much fucking room VHS takes up, plus the cost!!!
they were also on the danish VHS - Those VHS were not good - all Bond films was a PAN/SCAN version.
Which one are you referring to? Can you send a link?
This takes me back to when I was little. I remember seeing this at the start of all my Bond videos. This was like a sticker book of which Bond films I own and don't own yet and I would analyse each little clip. So when I got a new Bond VHS I would recognise parts from this advert and get excited. Great Times then! Great Times as I'm watching them all again now! ❤
Hi
The link didn't appear - can you include it again?
It's an edit job so appetite-whetting that the 1999 documentary "The James Bond Story" pretty much lifted the first 30 seconds of it for its intro.
It's interesting that this was released in 1996 but it doesn't contain any clips from GOLDENEYE (1995). Then again,
I don't think much of that film so I'm pleased they didn't to be honest...
Yes, it is a cracking bit of editing.
There were some clips of goldeneye and tomorrow never dies added in the french vhs of tomorrow never dies
i stil have this 📼 collection even today 👌
You know what they say about the fittest?
I Havent Seed it Like That When I Was A Kid
It’s giving me the chills
The theme from for your eyes only
is it just me or did i see Never Say Never Again footage
You must give me the name of your oculist ...
+Dan Gale XD i think ive just seen NSNA too many times, once
Shit format for bond why not bond on Betamax.
james bond is no more gone to WOKE
Point to the bits where he has gone woke. I genuinely don't understand this comment. Having a child does not make you woke. It makes you a parent. Some parents are utter wankers.
