Most of those who are offended by this character won't be watching this kind of show at all. His appearance may actually be what it takes to be successful. It's usually impossible to predict the outcome of this contest, so we just have to wait and see. I agree that he is an amazing singer. I don't know what a young man in an evening dress and painted on beard is supposed to represent. But whatever it is, it adds a somewhat exotic element to this otherwise quite boring contest.

He identifies as male, and does drag for fun, rather than wanting to actually become a woman. Therefore, it is incorrect to call him 'her'. I may be wrong, because he's never clarified, but that's what I've gathered from things I've read and watched when he's been out of his Conchita personality. Doesn't mean he isn't any less worthy of your respect, just thought it should be known.

Да, уже в контакте обсуждали данную тему. Да, конечно, Данилко, Дана - это мужины. НО! Есть огромная разница! Дану никто даже не заподозрил, что она была раньше - мужчиной и выглядит она как женщина. И если дети и смотрели телевизор, то они видели женщину! Когда выступал Данилко, с этим тоже все ясно - это юмористический персонаж на сцене, это образ, в конце концов яиц из под юбки и щетинки (а тем более БОРОДЫ) у него (Верки Сердючки) не было. А тут иная ситуация... Тут вроде бы женщина, а вроде бы и мужчина, потому что присутствует ростительность на лице. Ведь у детей есть же представление как должна выглядить тетя или дядя. И явно у тети не бывает такой вот растительности на лице , такое бывает только у дяди. И "Кончита" представил свой номер не как развлекательно-увеселительный (как Данилко), а вполне серьезный номер с глубоким подтекстом. Впрочем он и сам не отрицает этого и прежде всего тем самым он хотел выступить так именно что бы доказать и показать всему миру, что есть и вот такие как он и что нужно принимать их вот такими, какие они есть.
