Don't think I've ever heard a live performance performed so close to a studio version. The win was so well deserved.
Actually just listened to the studio version and there's one tiny detail I actually prefer in the live performance, at 2:25 she pauses just a fraction of a second longer which imo works better

True. And I thought, it wouldn’t be my kind of artist at all, but I loved it actually. The song is amazing. I found it quite interesting to let go of the artist’s appearance and judge only the song and the performance, the vocal range. I wasn’t sure, if I am able to, but I was. It’s still one of my favourites on ESC.

I swear I hated this song in 2014 because I was young and dumb (like "oh Conchita just won because of her appearance etc etc") but now I see this song as a total masterpiece, and definitly legit for the next James Bond Movie!!
Yeah, my parents did not let me watch their performance. And I felt like something is wrong with me, because I knew something was different about me. Then years later I found myself. And now looking back to this song, the performance. There was no cheating, they did not win because of the look, or being LGBTQ, they where singing from their heart, it is amazing, and I am sooo happy, that I found this song again. So powerful, meaningfull, beautiful song, and the voice is just amazing.

This was the last ESC I watched before i had my kids and it's still such a present memory! I can still see myself sitting in front of the TV with my jaw dropped like "where did this voice come from?" and now, 9 years later, I still get goosebumps, it was such a phenomenal performance!
Yesterday I saw some guy in The Voice Romania, his name was Sandro, and he did such an amazing version of this song that I just had to come back here and listen to Conchita once more.

I'm not sure if the response of the audience is a real indicator of success in eurovision. Isn't it probable that a lot of people who are present at the live shows come from (for example) neighboring countries of Denmark? I think this can have a huge influence on the way the audience responds, as not every culture is as "open" towards Conchita's act. This being said, I really hope she'll do well in the competition!

Not only is she fucking beautiful and a goddamn good singer, those lyrics are gold. The song (presumably) is about her life and how there are so many horrible people (exhibit A: in this comment section) in the world but she is going to rise above them and "fly." She deserved to win just for the message this song sends to all those who are told that they aren't "normal," who are bullied and beaten up for just being themselves. Das Lied ist doch Schrott. Würdest du dir den Mist beim Autofahren in den CD-Spieler legen? Ich nicht. Nein Danke. Und gottseidank wird es auch im Radio nicht gespielt. Habe es bislang jedenfalls nicht ertragen müssen.
Erlaube mir, dir eine Frage zu stellen. Warum kann es nicht sein, dass so viele Menschen das Lied negativ bewertet haben, weil sie das Lied nicht mögen? Es soll vorkommen, dass selbst ernannte Künstler Dinge tun, die Vielen missfallen. Das hat nichts mit Intoleranz irgendeiner Art zu tun, sondern mit Musikgeschmack.
Und Meinungsfreiheit hat in dem von dir erschaffenen Kontext nur einen Sinn: den, dass jeder sagen darf, ob ihm das, was Conchita da tut, gefällt oder nicht. Wie man sich kleidet, hat nicht im Entferntesten etwas mit Meinungsfreiheit zu tun. Die wird nämlich im Artikel 5 GG folgendermaßen definiert:
"Artikel 5, GG
(1) Jeder hat das Recht, seine Meinung in Wort, Schrift und Bild frei zu äußern [...]".
Was du mit "Meinungsfreiheit" meintest, ist vielmehr die Freiheit der Person:
"Artikel 2, GG
(1) Jeder hat das Recht auf die freie Entfaltung seiner Persönlichkeit, soweit er nicht [...] gegen die Verfassungsmäßige Ordnung oder das Sittengesetz verstößt".
Ich weiß, dass er/sie Österreicher/in ist, das ändert aber nichts an der Definition der Begriffe Meinungsfreiheit und Freiheit der Person, die ja sicherlich nicht nur im deutschen Grundgesetz festgeschrieben sind.
Dieses fiese Teil geht mir voll auf den Sack. Das Lied ist scheiße und singen kann es auch nicht. Da ist es mir egal, ob es auch noch scheiße aussieht.

He is gay, might i add he does look quite ordinary in his private life, and had to face discrimination because of his orientation. Therefore he created this persona, to fight for tolerance. Me too, but just LOOK at how supportive the audience in the video is of Wurst. As a boy they only felt comfortable trying on skirts in the attic when none of their family/friends were home. Now, they're out and they have people around the world supporting them; so don't lose hope just yet! :D

Ceasar-Look at it as God/Universe/Creator...shaking the gold from the dust. Think of a goldminer mining for gold with that pan that has holes in it. The holes are for the riff-raff of humanity to go back into the stream and hopefully transform into something, useful. For the record, I am straight/hetero female, in my friggin 50's and I love Conchita Wurst. Humanity is not indicative of 'acceptance' of those who outshine their own shadow. For the dustpan amoebas, that is a lesson they have yet to learn. Probably not in this lifetime, though. Sigh~~
