arrangement for solo guitar of the famous piece by Franz Liszt
his 3rd Nocturne from his book "Liebsträume", Original in As-dur
transcription based on the work of Mario Parodi
guitar by Walter Verreydt (spruce 2012)
Koen Claeys, guitar
Why the piano comments here? I'm a professional pianist who plays this piece on the piano and even I think this is incredibly superb considering it's a different instrument. People lack knowledge of how much dedication is needed to play this perfectly. Enjoy the piece people and stop trying to find something to complain
Jonathan Pontel thank you for the comment, I play classical guitar music for a living. Unfortunately, there are elitists among the guitar community as I’m sure there are among the piano community. They all need to take a step back and enjoy things for what they are rather than what their subjective mindset thinks they should be.
Jonathan Pontel I doubt you’re a pro . Just saying doubt don’t give hate
I play many instruments. Sure I might prefer the piano for this piece, but I thought this was an excellent interpretation of the song. It’s refreshing and new. We’re not just limited to piano. It’s nice to have someone come in and perform such a complex piece with only 6 strings. He was limited to what he could do and made the song for guitar. That in itself is amazing. I agree with your comment. Jonathan
Yeah I play piano and guitar and I definitely would rather learn this on piano, you sir have some serious talent.
The best pianist in term of technic and creativity i've met is also one of the most open-minded person i know. He loves hearing me play classical pieces on the guitare, including this piece that i dumbed way more than this beautiful interpretation because i never looked at the sheets. Pianists on ego-trip would benefit from opening their minds
Comments saying piano version is better... Why. I'm a pianist and i loved so much listening this piece being played on guitar. The smooth sound of the strings and the sound of the taping fingers while changing position are so precious and sounds so warm to me. I appreciate a lot this guitar version.
I agree. All instruments are wonderful in their own right. :)
Well, i wouldn’t consider them actual musicians if they only think their instruments are better, as a musician (a pianist myself), you should also be exposed to certain things like these
Predictable comments here about the piano version being preferred. Obviously that version is better but I feel it's unfair to judge the guitar transcription based only on this performance. If you listen to Parodi's rendition it is quite impressive and full of energy and dynamics. The fact that a competent and pleasing transcription of this piece is even possible for the guitar is impressive enough. And let's also not forget how much better Albeniz sounds on a guitar ;)
ítalo, ele quis dizer que Albeniz soa melhor no violão do que Liszt
Thanks Vlad
Honestly, my favorite version is Frank Amacker’s dance version on guitar. He played with a New Orleans Jazz band band called the 6 and 7 8ths string band.
absolutely outstanding. if any of the commenters had any idea how difficult this is i'm sure their opinions would change. keep up the good work!
From one guitarist to another, well done!
As someone who plays this on piano, i can only assume this is astonishingly difficult on the guitar! The people who leave as soon as the piece ends have absolutely no idea how difficult this is. HUGE accomplishment, well done! Liszt would be proud.
I've always been listening to Liebestraum on piano and i would have never expected to sound this majestic and peaceful on guitar. Great job, you touched my heart this was unbelievably beautiful
素晴らしい演奏。
これをギターで弾くのは物凄く難しい。演奏からそれが痛いほど伝わってくる。
as a burnt out classical guitarist (who still plays because my parents are asian), this gave me the motivation to keep playing, and to maybe enjoy playing again :))
I really love the Classical music community in Netherlands, it's so lively, popular and fun too
To play all the notes as he did, with excellent legato, phrasing and tone control, is an accomplishment.
For me, the first part is played just a little too fast. At about 2:54, he slows it down some, and that is good. At about 3:25, he slows it some more, and from then on, his interpretation is absolutely beautiful. The only unfortunate thing about this latter part, is that Mr. Liszt never had the opportunity to hear it.
Me, a beginner guitarist who likes classical music: Ferb, I know what we’re doing today
ive been learning guitar for akmost 5 years and already know how to play pop music and how to find the melodies if one pop song, but i still have no idea how to play piano classical music on guitar, like how this guy just did
If u can learn this as a beginner I shall buy you any guitar of your choosing, 5 figures max
@@untaggedguru5602 I started a month ago and I’ll try this, maybe you will lose a lot of money ;)
how’d it go
have you learned this yet?
I thought this was impossible.
Close enough...
it is still is impossible, but this is as close as we can go with one 6string guitar. This guy here is awesome, he is among the few ones that could deliver it decently.
Yes
Heartbreakingly beautiful, Keon. Thank you so very much for sharing this!
I like that you actually gave it a guitar-ish style
Great play... Standing applause...
We are the lucky person who can hear the guitar version...
I love the simplistic sound of this on guitar.
I wouldn't have imagined that a guitar interpretation is possible!
Maravilloso maestro, yo como aficionado guitarrista he de decir que su actuación fue espléndida y maravillosa para los oídos
So relaxing.
Well done! It must be very hard to play this piece in guitar. Outstanding interpretation !!!
tabs pls wanna practice this masterpeace. best arrangement so far in guitar.
just sheet music it bro
love that song, makes me fell better in bad times, this melody is so profund, is such amazing...
(sorry 'bout my english...)
Absolutely beautiful
just put this on my ipod, will be appreciated for years!
Truelly exceptional and also deeply emotive!
marvelous.
Una ejecución trascendente. Muy dificil de ejecutar y lo hizo maravilloso... bravo!
God damn dude, love it. It was beautiful. You know those songs/arrangements you can see yourself playing it in your head and know how it sounds but then you don't know how to play it?
You've given me the tools for at least one of those :D Thank you!
Prachtig stuk, prachtig gebracht. Heel mooi!
Koen claeys has the gift of music!!
sehr schön.
Preciosa interpretacion
Oh my God you are amazing!!! Beautiful!
¡ Bravisimo, Mi amigo!

Marvelous
Amazing
Infinitamente lindo...
Very nice.
Bravo!
Mooi, Koen!
As a pianist, Im so confused,
But that Was amazing boy!
So wicked wow
Excelente!!!
Just beautiful, bravo!
Very nice, is this exactly the same as the Parodi version? If so how did you get hold of the sheet music - I've been hunting for ages
Do you have tabs or notes??
I need it badly.
You played awesome
prob found this already but look up mario parodi liebestraum pdf. also there is a sheet music video somewhere on youtube.
magnifique!
Music good, instrument good.
Nice!

Nice
Very nicely played! Where can I find the score for this wonderful transcription??
Any access to tablature for this piece? The fingering seems way simpler than one version I have found so far.
I do not have any tab for this. I use the piano score and the version of Mario Parodi.
@@KoenClaeys Thank you. I will try to learn by looking at the different fingering positions you use throughout the video. Great work!
@Music Guy You do understand that standard music notation would not give any information on how or where to play the notes of the neck of the guitar? That's called arrangement. For classical guitar its incredibly important to have efficiency in your left hand or else the piece can be impossible / highly difficult to play. That's why I asked for a tab.
yep, this is out of my league.
Koen je bent een god
good job
Proprio bravo.....assai difficile da eseguire con la chitarra Libestraum!!!🎸🎸🎸
MASTER…☘️☘️
That is crazy
Why buy a piano if you have a guitar 👀
we have both at home 👀👀👀👀
喜欢 看到前面像求谱,看到一半又放弃了
看到结尾又觉得我可以了
Lindo
How can someone give a down vote to it?
good!!
Dis 'n baie lekker aksent wat jy het (-;
Having listened to this and Parodi's version (they are slightly different) I think this sits well on the guitar but the current transcriptions are too busy, trying too hard to match the piano. The second part of the second verse loses the melody a bit so I am going to write up and make tablature for this one without the OTT aspects. I think it deserves a place on the guitar.
Amen Jonathan
very difficult
Istg this is harder than the piano version
Any chance there’ll ever be a tab for this? T_T
How the..?!
It’s got that Spanish flair
It would have been much better if the bass melody line were more clearer and louder.
Easier said than done
Are you guys serious for comparing guitar interpretation to piano interpretation?
bravo!
Piano is for virgins. Check out Parodi’s recording of this piece and tell me guitar doesn’t positively HANDLE Liszt at his best
Do you sell the score?
OHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AMK
souns great, i play this song on my youtube channel. check it out and let me know what you think
Nice piece, well played, very clean too, but I really dont like guitars trying to catch up on piano..
Técnicamente es perfecto, pero le faltan dinámicas.
I see why piano is the best instrument
ジェイコブ Wang You say that because you are a "pianist", what a selfish and arrogant comment.
Fuck off jacob
Each instruments have their own unique allure.you cant just say taht
i mean piano is one of my personal favorite instruments ,this is just a so g not made for guitar
@@thecrazypiano8034 not only did you misspell song, but you also termed it inappropriately, the correct term would be Piece*
Cool interpretation!
But piano version is better all the same ;)
I think the melody comes out clearer on the piano.
This is... such an irrelevant point. Liebestraum no. 3 was written by a piano virtuoso and one of the most influencial composers in music history and it was written TO piano virtuosos. Saying that the piece is better on piano than guitar is totally missing the point of musical arrangements. It is not supposed to be better or worse than the original, it is supposed to be a different interpretation of the piece through a different medium.
