Fire and Ice: The Daring Adventures of Cool Coyote is a platform game created by Graftgold for the Amiga and the Atari ST, released in 1992 by Renegade.
The player takes control of "Cool Coyote". The goal of each level is to find the exit door and unlock it. To do so, a key is required, which consists of several pieces. Monsters will drop pieces of the key when killed, which requires the player to find and kill the monsters in the level.

I loved this game back in the days. The music still sits in the back of my head.

Nice! Never had an Amiga, but this is the exact sort of game that would have made my childhood. Looks so fun and beautiful.

Classic game, with a super rewarding difficulty curve and a title theme that's a certified earworm. Cannot ever be unheard from my childhood.

It's amazing how much atmosphere Amiga developers could create with just a series of differently coloured horizontal lines

Nothing gives me as much nostalgia as the underwater level music

I wonder how a character like Cool Coyote could be reimagined in the modern era.

Graftgold was a good developer who, like many others, suffered the transition of the second half of the 1990s.
Andrew Braybrook even left game development after the company folded but from what I'm reading now, like many names of his era he may be coming back to the fold in this era of indie gaming.

This is one of the few Amiga platform games I actually think is pretty decent and doesn't feel like it has that awkward controling feel. From what I have also read over the years there was a version for the Megadrive in development and finished but never released but to this day it has never surfaced. I'd be very interested to see if it features any improvements or changes.

Killing the penguins was so much fun! Like shooting the ice bears in „Banshee“ 🤩💯👍

Fun game, but I allways wondered if there was more to what went on than just “random stuff put together”.

Jason Page did the sounds and music. He also did the soundtracks for the PlayStation demo discs. :3

14:51 Was zum ... !? Ich hab das Spiel damals Mitte der 90´er rauf und runter gespielt. Aber hidden levels? Ok, muss mal dringend bei Muttern auf den Dachspeicher... da ist der A600 noch irgendwo vergraben.

slow, choppy, overrated. Low frames per second. Colours are poor, a mess with the usual horrid copper bars to try to add more. I'm an Amiga fan but consoles platform games are way more fast, spectacular, smooth, advanced. Sonic, Ristar, Dynamite Headdy and such

I do agree to some extent. My older brother had an Amiga growing up. I was always on it. I loved it. I was always playing Turrican, Zool, Apydia, Pang, Adams Family, Robocop etc. I got a Mega Drive later on and I always felt like the arcade conversions were a million times better than on the Amiga. Games such as Strider, Golden Axe, Ghouls and Ghost where 10 times better on the Mega Drive. A lot of games designed for the Amiga though wiped the floor with the Mega Drive conversions. Chuck Rock being an exception. Miles better on Mega Drive. Games such as Shadow of the Beast, Gods, Chaos Engine etc were so much better on Amiga. The Amiga had awesome exclusives like Ruff and Tumble, Kid Chaos (which was a Sonic clone) Apydia and tons of cool adventure games like Monkey Island. The Amiga also seemed to have better music on most games, despite having less channels. It is swings and roundabouts really. The Amiga sucked at Arcade ports usually. Pacland was awful on the Amiga. One thing to keep in mind was that the Amiga's hardware was a few years behind the Megadrive, despite sharing the same processor. The Megadrive was developed from the Arcade line and it showed. The Amiga had a better community though back then. I can not pick a favourite. Both systems had strengths and weaknesses. I will always have nostalgia for the Amiga though. First video game i ever played was Batman the Movie on it. I remember watching my brother play on it and I asked my mum what he was doing. She said playing on his computer. I asked her what a computer was, and my brother showed me. This was early/mid 90s. I do feel though the Mega Drive and Snes have aged a lot better than the Amiga though.
