Thanks for the video. Super helpful. Have one question regarding the chart shown around 14:30. We normally create charts using Power BI or Tableau and in those we can't really add those text comments , can we ? And usually Dashboards have multiple charts. Do you take one chart from a bigger dashboard, and put those comments for presentation ? As an analyst, how do you know there was a marketing plan changed in June. Do you work along with marketing folks. i have seen charts like these, but I never do understand how do they get generated. I can understand how the line graph may be created, but who/ how created such kind of valuable charts with stories. Thanks again for such an informative contents.
Hey. Thank you for the comments. True that we creating charts by using BI tools however, the limit of these are a bit lack in terms of sharing the audience with such powerful and insightful presentations. Hence, I only rely BI tools mainly for looking data/ trends / patterns. And if I spot interesting points, I tried to create by using excel or even with icons in PowerPoint for aesthetically pleasing and more clear in giving information to the audience. For 3rd Q, an analyst must know what is happening or going on within the organisation. Without knowing this, you will not be able to tell your insights in story telling way to stakeholders. I believe that an analyst R&R is much more than creating Graph and chart, he/she should be able to give insights and strategic direction to the stakeholders. An analyst need to know not just about his/ her related dept, also must know what is happening in other dept. Example, you are an analyst from marketing team but you should know what is happening in sales team / what campaigns they make etc. (Sorry if I share the thing you already know but sharing my thoughts as if other ppl who might want to know after seeing your comments) :)
@@lifeoflynn8 Thanks your reply was very hepful. It makes me think of an additional skill needed by data analyst. That skill can only be learned and picked up at work, it's hard to learn from books or classes.
