I'm not sure how old this lovely lady is but I went to school from 1963ish onwards. Teachers, in my experience, didn't get involved with children other than was needed to do their job. I had a nice teacher in Primary One but for 3 years following, I was brutalised by this one female teacher who pulled my hair to whack my face off my desk, twisted my arms up my back, threw wooden chalk board erasers at me and generally terrified me into silence. I wasn't alone, there was a boy with a bad stammer who she used to imitate and encouraged the class to imitate him too. She was 100 percent off her head and, unbeknownst to me I has Aspergers and she found me a good daily victim. She had me stand in front of the class every morning and hold my hands up to let the class see "what a disgusting little nail biter" looked like, of course I bit my nails more. The worst point, so bad that she terrified the whole class was on the day we got thw results of the 7 Plus, IQ test which, as is often the case with kids on the spectrum, I passed higher than everyone else, simply because pattern recognition comes easily to me. She beat me up, shouting that I had done it deliberately, to embarrass her and flew into such a hysterical meltdown that she fainted. When I had my first son my midwife had been a classmate and she was laughing about it because we were all hoping she'd died and nobody wanted to fetch the headmaster but eventually we chose three kids to go. You would have thought she'd have been committed but, the headmaster was just as bad and within a week, she was back. So, no, teachers didn't get involved as a rule and neither did parents complain about brutality as they all went through it too. In the 1970s it slowly started to change, but REALLY slowly! This lady is super brave coming forward like this. Funny how she gravitated towards the outcasts, same with me but, I really wasn't bothered about making friends myself but ended up with some really nice, painfully shy girls who I stood up for, I am 6 foot tall and was even tall as a pre teen and teenager. I have never been able to tolerate cruelty and bullying so ended up looking out for the waifs and strays, still do but mainly of the animal variety now.

I am so sorry this woman suffered so much at the hands of such evil & narcissic animal’s. They wanted her back for the $$$ funding. She is so brave to speak out and educate. Princess Diana was mocked but pushed forward with strength. I volunteered at women & animal shelters & advocate fir patients (am a nurse ) and abused children, women & the elderly. Thank you for addressing these issues on a public platform & taking your abuse & using it for helping others❤️.

It's like watching myself, with some differences but so much chaos, rejection and shame...It's easy for me to look at Sheila and feel so much empathy and so many ways I identify. If only we could show that kindness to ourselves, stop blaming ourselves. These are the real consequences of abuse.
Shaun, I appreciate how encouraging and understanding you were to Sheila. Thank you for this. God bless you both.

When referring to a person on drugs when they get off of it the term used is not sober it is called clean...getting off alcohol is called sober...and this is from a sober alcoholic of 40 years This is a great video however and I heard a lot of my own story in it. I watch Ron all the time and this is the first I have watched your channel but rest assured I will be back again Thankyou for bringing the trauma of childhood desertion and abuse which does not bring about a normal well balanced and functional individual......very informative and thank you to Sheila for being brave enough to tell her story and your obvious care and kindness to her

I could not even begin to explain my abuse. I have recently began to make videos diaries of my recovery and the process of how trauma leads to addiction. One day if I am still alive I will put them together to help others. I am 60 now so I might not make it

I am 65 now, surprised I got this far, as I said to myself on my birthday. lol Yes I started school 1963, and yes I would gravitate to painfully shy girls like you. I empathise with all of it, I remember rulers chalk board erasers being used. I used to get moved away from the other children as I smelt. I did not know how to make friends apart from the waifs that were different, we were in the same boat.
Wow 6ft, you’re taller than my daughter, 5ft 10in she is. My Auntie was 6ft, I only got to 5ft 8in and have now shrunk.
