I love the Small detail how Jack's uniform goes from super clean white to black and dirty throughout the movie, symbolizing his transition from memory wiped clone back to the Commander he once was.
Something can be both simple on the surface and symbolic when you dig deeper. Writers have been doing this forever. That's why we have double entendres.
@Noneof Yourbusiness "uninhabitable" because that's part of the story the alien AI fed them. How, they explained or why the techs didn't realize they're fine is probably a better question
That was the case. The artificial intelligence used them to make the clones. There was a real Sally at Mission Control originally who was presumably killed in the invasion. The A.I. just used her image to keep up the illusion.
I think Julia was alive in the hibernating pod which Jack threw in the space before the capture but Jack and Victoria were captured and must have been killed after making clones....but Julia's ship landed after a long time being in the pod
Those clones shown to be so sophisticated, that I assume there is absolutely no difference between original and copy, aside from different experiences each of them had after "birth"
@@stryhuns Yea I think each clone is the exact same as the original, except their memories are repressed and anything that happens after their release is obviously gonna be different than other clones/the original. However those repressed memories can be accessed just like was shown with the clones in the movie, and so become the exact same as the original upon unlocking their old memories I forgot where I was going with this
Tom Cruise has always been great in Sci-Fi movies, and Oblivion's been a favourite of mine for a while. Definitely worth the watch for anyone still on the fence about it.
If Oblivion is one of your favourite sci-fi movie (like me !), go check Andrée Wallin's concept arts about it ! (its on hid website) His artworks are beautiful and composed the majority of the movie's environment design, if not all of it.

Oblivion has always been an all-time favorite of mine; especially the soundtrack composed by M83, it's so good. I'm glad someone finally made a recap on Oblivion. This movie deserves more love imo
At the end they were able to "tame" Tech 52 anyway, so they should've just done it earlier on and have Tech 52 bring the explosives to the Tet instead of Tech 49
I think that would've undermined the plot's sense of risk as well as Beech's sacrifice, since the aspect of responsibility would then be split between the main character and the clone.
"Fap Hut" at 10:43, did it for me. Someone give Mystery Recapped an Oscar. The Academy legit needs an Oscar for narration. I'm still laughing at that. But if the Academy decides to give oscars to the best narrators...I want the credit for suggesting it.
Wouldn't it have made more sense for the original Jack and Victoria to be killed outright, so there's no memory to be wiped, and the clones can be aged appropriately?
Jack and Victoria were killed when they entered the Tet. The Tet cloned both of them, assuming they were husband and wife. It didn't realize that Jack's real wife was in the hibernation pod. The memories he has are leftovers from his original self. My headcannon on why the clones are destroyed and replaced every 5 years or so is because the clones will slowly start to remember bits and pieces about their original's lives. The memory erase process isn't permanent. This is why the Tet recalls them and then they're simply replaced with a new batch of clones.
@@CorviknightCoffee probably clone 49, meaning the 48 clones before him signal 200 - 250 years passing (assuming 5 years for each clone lifespan), with the clones not really remembering the time period.
@@charlesludwig8672 I assumed the number was based on the part of the world they operate in, since 49 and 52 were in adjacent zones, and each time the clones were killed off, a new set of Jack-xx were sent down and told they'd be sent to titan in a few years
@@charlesludwig8672 I think you're slightly off on the year because we know some clones are living and working simultaneously in different zones on Earth. If we knew how many Earth zones and Jack clones the Tet has running missions at one time, then we might get a better idea of how much time has passed. But I agree, it's probably been at least over a hundred years.
I wonder why the moon exploding would make any mass damage to earth. After all, the mass is still there in space. The gravity is still the same because no mass is lost. I can understand some changes, but nothing huge that would just happen over a few days to the point of making humans unable to adapt.
1. Nights would be much, much darker. The next brightest object in the night sky is Venus. But it still wouldn't be enough to light up the sky. A full moon is nearly two thousand times brighter than Venus is at its brightest. 2. Without the moon, a day on earth would only last six to twelve hours. There could be more than a thousand days in one year! That's because the Earth's rotation slows down over time thanks to the gravitational force -- or pull of the moon -- and without it, days would go by in a blink. 3. A moonless earth would also change the size of ocean tides -- making them about one-third as high as they are now. 4. Forget about seeing any lunar eclipses -- or any solar eclipses -- without the moon, there would be nothing to block the sun. 5. Without a moon the tilt of our earth's axis would vary over time. This could create some very wild weather. Right now, thanks to our moon, our axis stays tilted at twenty-three point five degrees. But without the moon the earth might tilt too far over or hardly tilt at all leading to no seasons or even extreme seasons.
It could cause massive damage because of the severe disruption in the gravitational fields between Earth and the Moon. That could potentially cause a nuclear extinction event if large enough. Not to mention the effect a damaged moon (or one that has splintered into many pieces/rings) would have on our tides, seasons, and days. Earth's axis alone would shift severely, causing some wild weather across our planet. This explanation shows why Earth's climate has changed in Oblivion over time.
>>After all, the mass is still there in space.< If only 0.1% of the Moon's mass were to strike Earth, that would result in several Mass-Extinction Level Events on Earth.
