If you mix with a color mixer (its basically a clear dye) that is wayyy more helpful than using a conditioner. It makes the color pastel but it wont fade as quickly which im sure yours did. All stores like sallys carry them Inkworks has a good one
It might not have mixed well because you used a clarifying conditioner, which is a super rich conditioner that should be used after a clarifying shampoo, which strips colors and chemicals from hair shafts, and is commonly used to remedy a bad dye job. Conditioner consistency varies by the brand, which is why you should use a marketed color diluter to lighten a color rather than use a conditioner, which has chemicals and ingredients that make the dyeing process more difficult. Ion makes a Clear Shade Diluter, which should make up for over half of the mixed dye if you want to make a pastel color. Chemically, it is also much more compatible with Ion dyes, and will combine a lot easier so that you have an even color. Also, because you need to considerably lighten your hair, combine a tiny bit of dye with melted coconut oil for a hair masque, which will nourish the hair shaft and give your color more shine.
That's a really nice colour! since the original dye was basically violet I was not expecting it to turn out so pink. But it's a nice pinky/purple mix.
So pretty!
Your the only one who does layers and dyed your hair properly with gloves !!!
WOOOOO xx
Great vid x
Your hair is always gourgeous! I love it!YESSS GIRL!!!
ion makes a line of pastels now in lavender, azure, rose, and titanium. we just got them in shipment at my store and they are supposed to go on the shelves by april 1st. rose is a preally pretty pastel pink color. you should try it!!
I always tend to leave semi-permanents on a long time. They don't do any damage and I want to make sure they soak in really well.
No one can rock the pink hair more than LDShadowlady :D
Right? Lol
XD
Ikr
yes💖
crybaby! at the twenty øne holo true dat but still pretty I plan on putting pastel stripes in mine because I'm not allowed to dye it full on pink
You most definitely will. If it's dyed black, I would suggest using a color remover first (Like color oops from loreal). Then go on to use bleach. You may have to bleach multiple times because it will turn orange. Once you get it to a yellow color you can use toning shampoos (purple shampoos like silverlights) and those will get it to the tone you want. If you want a pastel like this pink you'll need to tone it all the way to white.
That color is beyond gorgeous!
It's hard to say. I always use clairol born blonde or born blonde maxi. After that I use a toner, but because I've changed my color so many time it just finally got to white. It turned a bright yellow the first two times I used born blonde maxi. After that I just used a toning shampoo (Silverlights) and that was when I went to dye my hair blue.
Yes, pastel colors work best on white hair. (I was in a hurry with mine so it came out with some orange spots) If you put pink over your black hair you wont see anything except maybe a pinkish shimmer in the sun.
I was nervous, but in a way it's comforting knowing the exact reason people are staring at you is because of your hair and not because of something else. You get used to it after a bit as well.
I really love this. I actually like the different shades in your hair. I wanna do this.
I love all the different tones of pink!
It looks really nice! I actually like the "splotchiness", it made it look really cool. My hair is a bit longer than yours (maybe halfway down my back?) so will I need more than this? And does it matter what conditioner you use or is that just what dilutes the dye? I know Suave is pretty cheap so I'll probably use that LOL
I think the darker streaks look cool!! I like it
As far as I know, there are no permanent dyes in colors like this. For the most part it's just how well you care for your color like washing as little as possible and re-touching. (Put a little dye in your conditioner when you wash and that should help a little bit)
Yes, the roots turned orangy pink after dying. I didn't feel like toning them so I just went ahead and did it. I didn't use shampoo when I showered. I just rinsed out the dye. If your ends are still a little yellow I would leave the purple shampoo on them for a while. Especially if you want lilac. It should get some of the yellow out.
I think the slightly different shades are really cool. Love your hair
I'd suggest manic panic for pastel colors. It turns out super bright for the first week then fades to a really pretty pastel color. That and Ion colors fade pretty quick too. So if you can put up with the really neon color for about a week, that's your best bet.
I don't bleach my hair anymore so I can't do a video, but honestly all I use is Clairol born blonde maxi until it's the right shade. Use purple shampoo too!
You're officially Pinky Pie :D
gorg.
Pastel works best on white hair, but if you want to go a bit darker or vibrant you could do it over a darker blonde.
To get a really nice pastel you need to have white hair. I didn't feel like toning my hair so it came out patchy (as you saw), but no as far as I know there's no way to get pastel or vibrant unnatural colors without bleaching.
I left it in for two hours because I figured that was enough time for it to really soak in. With semi-permanents it doesn't really matter how long you leave them in. (With pastels I would leave them in even longer if you can cuz they fade easier, it's all up to you though)
this brand of dye is a lot easier to mix if you put the dye in the bowl first and use the brush to kind of squish it around before putting in the conditioner. you also just have to be patient and mix it for a while. i like to use suave naturals because its like a dollar per bottle, and its kind of runny so it comes out a good consistency since this is such a thick dye.
That turned out really nice and it looks awesome on you!
I honestly don't think it matters what conditioner you use. A lot of people say sulfate free and other shtuff, but I haven't had a problem yet. I just want the cheapest white conditioner I can find to dilute my colors. Haven't had any fading or damage problems that other people haven't. So you're good as long as it's white!
With this brand (Ion) and the line is it's a semi permanent hair color so you don't use developer. But you can buy the diluter or use conditioner like she did.
I bought a ion red color one & it came out absolutely amazing , it was bright hair , & my hair was like a honey brown color & it still came out bright red. I think yours came out a pastel pink because you mixed it with condition.
Did you have your hair dyed before you did the ends or was it virgin hair? If it was dyed before that probably made it damage more. Idk though. As for the treatments you could always find one that's white and mix in some of your color to help it stay. (I'm assuming it's a semi-permanent color here lol:P )
Depends on the color you want. If you want blue, definitely get Ion. If you want pink, I would say Manic Panic, but I haven't tried it. I just know this one fades fast.
That is such a cute look. I recently, dip dyed my hair using "Live, Ultra Brights. I love it so much that I`m having my stylist do it for me longterm.
I always always always use Clairol Born blonde Maxi. I get it at walmart for 9.97. I am in the process of going blonde again. I wanted to try something else and got the same thing you did, but my mom had some leftover clairol so I did a bleach bath and it took to my hair so fast I said NOPE sticking to my born blonde haha. I think my hair just works very well with bleach though, but I would still recommend it:]
I've had terrible luck with manic panic so far. The only color of ion's that fades fast is this color, the only reason I used it was because it was my last fun color and I didn't want to buy another dye. I already had this one leftover. The Sky Blue dye they have actually NEVER faded from my hair. It stayed foreverrrr I ended up having to bleach even after using a color remover.
Hey Yesenia, you can also lighten your hair naturally, I wouldn't be able to tell you all the natural ways, but my hair is very healthy and I do dye it a lot and have bleached it many, many times. I just used a dye I got from Walmart to lighten it, I did use the lightest color about 3 times to get the color I wanted and I did give it time to heal between lightening, just when I needed to dye the roots I would dye my whole head. If you deep condition, condition daily and such, it'll look fine. ^^
Tht color looks perfect on you. I am going to have to try pastel pink on my hair once it grows out n gets healthy
Wow that is a beautiful color! Does the dye fully wash out, I know that some semi permeant dyes don't.
The splotchiness actually made it look extra interesting and pretty.
just a little tip, with ion colors, they make a dye called "clear" and you can mix that with the color instead of conditioner and it'll fade the pink but keep it even!!
also, you look so pretty with pink hair, i love it!
You don't use developer with semi-permanent dyes, you can just slap 'em on:] It's not really temporary because it stains your hair, but it definitely isn't permanent. The closest semi-permanent I've used that was pretty much permanent was Ion Color Brilliance in Sky Blue.
If I remember correctly from this video, I just split my hair down the middle and reached back to the part. When I was done I just squished the leftover all over back there. If not, I just did it the same as the sides, but held a mirror up so I could see what I was doing back there.
Yes, lighter if you can get it there. If not, the color won't hold or it will just look funky like it does at my roots. (Kinda orangey)
Also you did a great job, very professional and not messy (: I have only watched about 4 mins so far though, but sectioning it off is really important if you want it done well and that's what you did!!
Well thanks! I've heard using a manic panic pink turns out better, I just used this one cuz it's what I had:P I'd love to watch it!
If it's a bleached orange and its on the dark side I would bleach it again, then use a toning shampoor and conditioner for a while. If it's naturallly orange yes, but it will probably bleach light enough with one bleach to go straight to the toner afterwards.
Yes I'm pretty sure that with such a diluted/light color it would be really easy to go back to platinum. Just make yourself a vitamin c wash when it starts to fade or just do a very light bleach bath. There's videos out there on them:]
if it gets to a light yellow you can start using purple shampoo and conditioner to tone it. It should lift to white slowly:]
I could never do this to my own hair, but it looks great on you! I like the striped candy like effect you got at the end of the video :)
I mean it's beautiful in my opinion, but if you wanna make life a little easier Sally's has pastel colors in the ion now, Including pink and lavender, which I've personally used and they work pretty well.
Absolutely since it's so light.
It looks SO good on you!
Oh my glob! Looks so beautiful on you.
I love this color so much!!! So beautiful 💜💜💜💜
I do bleach my hair at home. I would do it in a video, but people get so angry about it I decided not to. I just use clairol born blonde maxi. It is very damaging to your hair. There is no way to keep it from getting damaged so the only thing I can suggest is getting garnier's moroccan oil treatment and don't wash your hair as often if you do bleach it. That will help get your natural oils back in. Really it just depends on how strong your hair is to begin with. My hair has always been beasty:P
I would, but suave is the cheapest I can find so to save myself some money that's what I use. In the future when I am making some money I will consider other products.
I'm not exactly sure how many times because before this I had it bunches of different rainbow colors and just removed them every time. I always use clairol born blonde maxi though.
gorgeous colour my hair actually faded to these colours after I died them a bright purple a while back. the purple was to strong but loved it faded so will just try this method next time.. how long did it last
Turquoise/Aqua!! I love that color with brown.
Quite like the odd bits of pink instead of all being candy floss pink as it looks like highlights and it looks great btw xx what bleach did you use :3
If you use a better dye, and your hair isn't streaked different colors of blonde, then you should be just fine doing it once. Either way it doesn't matter:] (I'd suggest using manic panic. I haven't, but everyone says its the best for pink.)
i didnt like how the dye looked when u put it on but the results are just beautiful you did a wonderful job
No, I used conditioner to dilute it and make it pastel. You don't have to use developer with semi-permanents.
Ahh cool! Never heard of that. Next time I get a chance to change my hair color I'll try that:] Thanks!
You can also get some really good colored wigs on ebay at first to see if it's for you. Or do the front section of your hair to see how your hair holds up to it.
Yeah, I've gotten this suggestion a lot. I just use that conditioner because it's the cheapest I could find:P That's all, but thanks:] If I ever get to go back to blue I'll definitely do this!
i love it. i think the blonde pieces make it looks better.
There isn't going to be a next time. I was just using this dye because it was my last crazy color to do and I didn't want to buy more stuff. It was only for two weeks.
Any color you want! I think they could all be pretty. Or you could go with your eyes. If they are brown do any color, blue do blue, green and green, ya know:}
So nice, love your work! This girls hair is nice too! Love your hair! Reminds me of this girls hair :) How To Dye Your Hair From Brown To Pink - Tips and Tricks!
thats the best pastel pink i have seen yet!!!
This color is so pretty!
I"ve always used clairol born blonde or born blonde maxi for darker hair.
Please make a video of how you take care of your hair it will be so helpful on my part since I do dye my hair every 3 months
Oh I didn't realize you said this too haha. If it's been toned to an ashy color the lavender should come out fine.
Ooh it's so pretty!
I have light pink hair too and my roots never want to hold the color either, like right after I bleach them..so they're always white blonde and the rest of my hair is pastel pink /:
Honey, it didn't mix well because you used a "clarifying" conditioner. Anything labeled "clarifying" is meant to gently strip your hair. That means the color will not adhere, because it's being stripped while it's trying to set. Try again with a different shampoo and you should get the all over even color you want ;) just a friendly protip
This is the same conditioner I've used for all of my hair dyes. This is the only dye I had issues with. It must just be a really bad conditioner because I've never had any issues with it. I don't use it for anything else, just diluting my dyes.
That looks gorgeous:) I have a question. I have medium brown hair and I want to dye the ends. What colour might look good and what is a good brand of hair dye?
You're lucky then, every time I use it, it fades so quick it's crazy, I've been told splot or splat whatever it's called works really well. I'm hoping to start experimenting again once I get a job that allows it.
The Colour is beautiful! ♥
Conditioner just changes a dark semi-permanent dye to a lighter or pastel color. You don't have to use it at all! :]
loved this color
It looks so so so good on you!!!!
Thanks:] Haha I wasn't even sure what color it was going to be either, but it was the only dye I had left and wanted to do something:P
That looks beautiful on you!!
Ahhh sooo pretty how'd you get your hair so blonde again after the blue? Or did I miss a video lol
since you used conditioner instead of developer, is this permanent?
it looks so nice, oooooh, ahhhhh, oooooh
You say you only had it in for two weeks, did it just completely fade out or did you redye it?
If it faded, does it go back to exactly the same blonde haircolor you had before or did it still leave a bit of pink in it?
I've been doing my hair for so long without using anything special. I'm not bald and now that I'm back to a normal color it's soft and perfect. I don't think they are neccessary:P Thanks.
Love the color I used to have blonde hair then went dark wish I dyed it pink now x
It does fade really fast, but I didn't leave it long enough to know just how long it lasts. I only had it for like two weeks.
Yes, I wanted to only use what products I had and not spend any money. I didn't have enough bleach to do my roots all the way.
Yes I believe you can for a few months (Maybe more idk) as long as you keep it closed in a container:]
Oh wow, what bleach did you use and how many times did you bleach it? I dye my hair alot but when I bleach it it turns to like a strawberry blonde.
I used Splat the very first time I dyed my hair blue. It turned green when it faded haha. I think it really juts depends on someones hair. It's always different:P
I don't know how you could do this to your hair! I would be having a panic attack and all that :P Were you nervous the first time you dyed your hair? By the way, I absolutely love this color! And it looks so good on you!
It looked fine. Just missed a spot. Did you use a developer? that's why it faded fast probably.
it looks so good on you!
You still have strands of blonde the dye didn't take to. I have used that ion dye, I honestly don't like it at all. I got a deep purple dye and it faded out to light blue within a week. I use Raw hairdye and leave it in for 2 hours, but I also dont do pastel so I don't like the fading, but I do think you could get better results with Raw hairdye and the conditioner for your pastel look.
