James Corden is hilarious, he's a delight. Hollyoaks is really good too. I am not a fan of Romesh's now. He really thinks the cast of Hollyoaks should be executed? I think he should be executed for saying he wants people who are making a living out of acting dead. It's not funny to say a thing like that.

That Simpson’s bit is tooo true. Channel 4 6:00 the Simpson’s, 6:30 well this took a nose dive. Pure nostalgia. If I remember correctly, they do a double bill of the Simpson’s now because channel 4 have realised what real entertainment is. Channel 4 are also really good at picking out the golden age episodes

Fish and Chips is such a weird thing to be provincial about, isn’t it? As if EVERY CULTURE ON THE PLANET doesn’t also have some form of “cooking meat in fat with a starchy thing” sitting around in their culinary toolbag.
I swear, it’s the culinary equivalent of finding national pride in wearing hats, or putting your pants on one leg at a time.
I say all that, of course, knowing full well that Fish and Chips are absolutely delicious and a fine way to end a night that began with beer.
The Simpsons/Hollyoaks dilemma is so spot on lol. And yes Romesh, I agree with you in regards to Chips and Fish...it is possibly THE most bland dish known to man. Soggy chips with a flavourless fish?! And nope, I don't wanna hear about salt, vinegar and ketchup because though they are essential to some foods, they do very little to enhance the experience.

Anyone who doesn't like fish and chips is probably a Southerner. You can't get proper fish n chips down there for love nor money. Never tastes right and they tend to leave the skin on, lazy gets. And dream on if you want mushy peas or curry sauce. Get up North and try some proper fish and chips!

If someone seems to say 'chips and fish' in a takeaway, perhaps it should be regarded as that they said 'chips, and fish', with the Oxford comma after chips meaning that they are to be regarded as separate items so the fish would be wrapped separately from the chips. I can't imagine that it happened in an eat-in restaurant where the menu would say 'fish and chips' or 'cod and chips' or 'haddock and chips'.
If a menu doesn't say what type of fish you're getting , chances are you're in a pub/cheapish general restaurant chain and it's not cod. It could be pollock, hake, coley, or haddock. It wouldn't be a non-white fish like herring or salmon though.If a menu says 'fishcake', if the restaurant serves haddock and/or salmon (even if they also serve cod), chances are it's that in the fishcake. If the restaurant serves cod but not haddock, chances are it's cod and/or salmon in the fishcake.

The thing with hollyoaks (it doesn't deserve a capital) is me. Except if i can't find it I put in earphones, playing loud music, then go up to switch the channel manually. Just a channel up or down before I actually start to look for the remote.
