Wow, thank you so much for this informative video, I was scratching my head on how to record my Ableton Live performance, and your video nailed it! Took me 5 minutes to setup the audio track and bounce - cool!
Thanks for a useful tutorial! It really helped me! IMHO, I’d lower down the volume of the looped background melody as it gets distractive when playing that loud🙈
So question. Can you please make it direct us to a tutorial on hows another way to do this. My hang up is when I sent a master scene switch my recording stops. As it has began a new master scene. Please help! Thank you
What I don't understand is at 5:07 you have 2 tracks playing but later at 5:12 it seems it recorded a lot more instrument tracks. Is that intentional? How can I only record what I'm actually playing live?
but how you record everything you're doing in session view while playing it? I mean, playing one vst instrument at a time and then looping it, then recording another instrument and so on. Is that possible?
I like it but when I root the tracks to an instrument or vocal track, I can´t hear my them... which for a live performance I need to listen to it live, not only in a recording, any help?
Hey wanted to say thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial - I have ableton live lite 10 and about to give it ago for the first time. Much appreciation thank you for the positivity!
Wait so wouldnt i have to arm every sound that im playing, if im playing live? Like live looping and secondly, what if i have a beat repeat capturing my beat-stutters because with this method it didnt capture them?
Am having issues with teying to loop on time siunds and instruments on the arturia mk2 in ableton .am playing chords but the timming is messing me up .i global quantized and toggle and still quatize chords on piano roll bjt still .its playing behind beat .anyone to help please .
Thanks for the tutorial! But i still have a problem - i'm trying to use this method to record my guitar live looping session while i'm playing everything, not after it's done and when i route all my audio tracks to another track as you showed i get terrible latency which is not present when they all just go to master. Is there any way to get it work without latency?
Great tip. But is there a reason why you didn't just record your Arrangement view session, press Tab to switch to Session view, then press F10? Doing that would give you a separate wave file of each instrument and vocal without having to create two new audio tracks and go through all the time to set that all up. Then you could master each instrument or vocal individually, adding effects, EQing or whatever .... Then just render the Session view to a file.
Yes that’s a good way offcourse :) . There can be some issues in some performances if doing that (some plugins, looping etc.) also in some live performances where you want to stop and then continue again, you might want to have back up of what you have created. :)
Are you recording the audio from Ableton with the video or do you have to sync up after. The latter seems impractical when you’re starting and stopping/re-recording audio a bunch of times.
@@LNADoesAudioStuff thanks. So you leave your video recording while asking all edits(doing a clap etc). ? I ask because my recordings can by multiple times longer than the finished product.
Hey! Is there a way to record my live looping performance without arming?? As my project is set up, I need to arm exclusively each track, so the record stops because the arming button disables automatically....
Unfortuntaly in Live the track where u record it needs to be armed. Otherwise you can hook up the session to another device DAw to record it to. But I think it gets too complicated. I just recommend arming as many as you can same time, and keep the main recording tracks always armed. So you can do this holding down shift.
I wanted to do the same thing, I tried it and it works for me, did you figure it out? Awesome! just what I wanted to do.....record my live looping sessions.
HI! Thank you for the vid! Is there a chance you could tell what video software you use for recording your computer sound (Ableton Live). I'm struggling with ScreenFlow here, I can't find any way to get a decent latency with my vocals, so practically it's impossible to record anything on the fly. In your video that seems be excellent!
I have 2013 Macbook pro so yours is probably better 😂 I would recommed to check your buffer size settings, have that as low as possible whilst recording :)
@@LNADoesAudioStuff Hi again! Same issue's here:( I was wondering if you could tell me something more specific, because everything seems to be normal on my screen: the input/output latency is 2.9ms and Screenflick Loopback driver's installed and set as an output device just like in your vid. However, for some reason everything playing in Ableton (whether it's my voice being recorded live or some prerecorded music pattern playing on some tracks) is being recorded with a significant latency which is a total wreck...I thought I could record my vocals just using the mic signal directly (not from Ableton), but this method still doesn't work, because all the media in Ableton is being recorded with this increased latency. Is there a chance you could tell me how exactly you record your voice using Screenflick? Do you record your vocals directly from your mic or you have an armed track in Ableton for that? Any info would help) Thanks again!
