Really enjoyed this vid, brought back superb memories of when I did the same route but in reverse ... on a push bike cycle camping in2009. Beautiful wild & rugged area. I did have to push it up the mountain pass tho with the weight on the panniers I admit ! Can't wait to go back now. Thanks for reminding me of this place. Excellent relaxed commentary 👍 keep it up 👍

Cracking vid fella, just found your tour vids. I did a similar loop round Skye last summer, but start and finish was from the Skye bridge. Couldn't tell you what the state of the road surface was like on the A863 bcos soon as we left the co-op petrol station in Broadford, it started raining. For the entire loop it rained nonstop, until we landed at our digs in Kyleakin village. So many places we just rode past bcos of the rain. Just an excuse to get back up there this summer!
Excellent trip!, we got very lucky with the weather as the whole week was sunny, warm and no wind. I have say though that Skye was a little disappointing, much busier than we originally thought - even though we went in late May. We found both Mull and Arran much more to our liking and would head back there next time..👌
Keep in mind that motorhomes aren't covered by our wild camping laws. They're classed as parking and lots of local authorities are clamping down on them thankfully.
Great video,really enjoy the sound of the mighty zzr,you look comfortable on the bike but if you had a pillion on the back would it be the same? or in that case a gtr1400 would be better? Keep on riding!!!
really enjoying the tour series. Thinking of getting a zzr1400 this spring. Only concern i have is i will only be able to afford a Gen 1, and 190bhp with no TC kind of scares me.
Hi Matt. The ZZR is incredible. No TC isn’t an issue at all. Tbh I only break traction when I mean to. I would recommend a later model Gen 1 with ABS though.

What kind of fuel consumption are getting on that gorgeous zzr1400, if you drive conservatively? This is to compare with my Concours/GTR1400 at 5,0 to 5,5 L/100km.
Thoroughly enjoying your travels on the ZZR, as a soon to be owner of one of the last of it's breed ( 2020 performance sport) and a resident in Scotland, I find your videos doubly enthralling. I was wondering for future reference which version of the Road 5's you had fitted, did you opt for the more heavy duty GT's or just the standard tyres?
@@TheMotoExplorer The ZZR is awesome, it's just reached its 600 mile service so now I can unleash the beast. I've put a few videos up on my channel but audio is an issue. I had it sorted but on the first ride of the ZZR the receiver of my Rode wireless Go flew off. Wind turbulence from the double bubble screen is also drowning out the mic, I'm going to fit a touring screen to lift the turbulence a bit. The weather hasn't been rider friendly recently and salt on the roads keeps me from riding.
@@michaellilley6725 +1 subscriber. That’s my afternoon viewing planned. Sorting the Mic is the hardest thing, by far. I did notice n improvement when I fitted my zero gravity touring screen. Give me a shout if you fancy a ride when the weather improves. 👍

Sounds exactly like most of my trips to Scotland. March always seems to be the driest month, but definitely not the warmest.

Any bother with old bill?and can you push on abit without cameras everywhere?good series 👍
Some of the A roads further South are camera’s, but you want to try and avoid these anyway. Lots of space to stretch the bike’s legs further North.

I can answer that,my stock gen1 zzr1400,when riding gently,the computer shows 6,2-6,6l/100km.
