G'day Viewers! Welcome back to the Car Wash Chronicles!
In this video I jump inside the motor room of a self serve car wash where all the equipment is for the car wash. I explain how the soap is pushed out into the bays as well as how the high pressure water is adjusted to the right pressure.
Be sure to check out my instagram for more info and send me a message if your'e interested in a phone consultation.
After working for my Uncle for 2 years at he's car washes I really wanted my own and I came across this car wash. It was completely shutdown for many years so I approached the owner of the land and made a deal with him.
It took me 6 weeks to bring it back to life and open it and now the customers are starting to pour in. Not to mention I opened it during winter so I am yet. to see its full potential but here's a small taste of how its going so far!

thanks you for making this video! literally have been searching for a video just like this to get a better understanding how the machinery works. ive been toying with the idea of updating a small carwash that has been vacant for a little while. very much appreciated
You’re welcome. Glad it helped
Keep up the great work I can’t stop watching your videos
Brighter is safer! Thanks for the video!
Agreed! Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
I went in blind to buying a carwash and in the last 6 years I’ve learned how to fix certain things
wow, now I can isolate why two of my three bays are not providing soap and air. thanks so much.
If you can make a video of your in bay automatic, how it works and daily maintenance, that would be absolutely awesome. Purchasing my first wash in the next 2 months. Would be extremely helpful. Cheers from Florida!
Sure will when it’s operating
Can't wait until the next video.
I better get started on it 🙏👍🏻
Great Video I just bought my first carwash this past Wednesday in Englewood Florida. I was wondering if you converted to coins from quarters yourself or your carwash was already setup that way? If you did it yourself maybe you can make a video on what that takes to get done
Congratulations!! Are you talking about the tokens I use? I got the car wash shutdown so I opened it and decided to use tokens.
This was really good. I have been looking for this info for a long time 🎉🎉🎉
Do you have a Flojet for each product and bay, or is one Flojet enough to serve all your bays? What LED lights did you install, do you still like them after a year?
We are jumping head first into the buzz. My question is on where to source your soaps and cleaners. The previous owner lost his supply and only offers soap the he buys in gallon jugs from Walmart. I'm looking at maybe the zep line or granger but I have no clew what to buy and how to ajust.
Thank you Chris. This video is one of my favorites. What about drains, sewer, filters, e.p.a. I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
-Will
Thanks will. I’ll work on one soon.
Great video!! Another one with more details would be awesome. Also, I know you get most of your products from Kleen-Rite, may e if you go into more detail have some links in the description of the actual products websites so people can find out more information on them and be better prepared.
I updated my lights early this month to led and i installed a photocell so they turn off during the day. my average electricity bill was about $640 so i can't wait to see how much of a difference it makes. keep up the great videos.
Nice! Makes all the difference in the world. I got photocell for my outside flood lights. Works well
Your local utility may even offer energy efficiency rebates. Worth asking.
@@zenunogoncalv i wish. they dont even offer credit on solar. so they basically will steal excess energy from you and sell it.
How much did your bill drop?
@@tnewberr it dropped to about $330
Love you videos! I’m in Adelaide and running a small earthmoving business but want to try and get a car wash even if I have to build it from scratch
Oh cool. Love the drive! Keep an eye out for rundown or shutdown car washes. Will be a much cheaper entry point than building from scratch. I always found it hard finding rundown car washes in Australia.
liked before video started!
Haha. Love it. Thanks
I can't get the ft valve off . Is it just pulled off or held on some other way?
What’s the average life of the major components? these systems boiler, cat pumps, rever osmosis/ spot free rinse, water reclamation, softeners? Is there a chapter in your paid series that covers what to look for here?
How long it took you to open the carwash ones you got the deal? 30 days? I want to do this but you haven't touched up on the downtime before opening the one carwash that was shot down and you had to refurbish.
Yes it was about 30 days for the first one and 60 days for the other one. Mind you that was only working weekends. A month or two of rent abatement helped aswell.
very informative. but yes when you have time and less quiet, more details would be nice. any books out there on car washes? ill be deployed for this whole ukraine bs. would love to read and learn more.
Oh wow. Be safe out there Kevin! No books that I know of.
@@CarWashChronicles appreciate it brother, in that case i look forward to your new videos
Awesome video. More like this please. Very helpful.
Thank you. Will do
Amazing video champ! I'm still in the look. I like your sense of humor very business oriented lol
Haha. Thanks man
Can you do a video about those led light, i ust want the truth are led lights really cheaper, all the led lighs u have ,u should beable to see the difference! Thank u
It’s been difficult to find cleaning Bays big enough to accommodate RV’s and Big Rigs at self serve car washes and I see you have one.
How do 😅these specific bays do as a revenue stream!
Can you show where the air and chemical mix together and where the foamer is for the foam brush(and possibly other functions)?
The air hose going into the flojet pump. The air is what makes it foamy. Without the air it’s just liquid (soapy water) coming out of the brush
@@CarWashChronicles What I mean is the air injected after the flojet. The ones I've seen online have a manifold where the air line and chemical line meet above the bay before the boom or there is a foamer above the bay that is a PVC pipe where the chemical and air line are connected to, and it has steel wool or another material in it to create the foam.
Thank you so much for this! Does it use a rinse aid similar to what is used in a dishwasher?
What do you think on a self serve car wash 5 bays and one non working automatic making around 70k year with 30k yearly expenses? Should be a good investment? Around 400k includes business and real state.
Houston tx
Sounds good as a starting point but if it’s on a busy road and very visible from a tonne of cars going by everyday than should be able to build it up with a the different in bay functions up and double that income to at least 150k. Buying the land will pay off in the long run also.
Couple Qs, where do you buy equipment from and do you have sensors to inform you when anything fails? Thanks and great channel. I’m looking at a couple properties right now (first timer). Lots of research.
Kleen rite for equipment. No sensors. Thanks!
Hi Chris, thanks a lot for your videos. I'm from Brazil and i would like to start a car wash business like u have in USA but i cant find someone to make the project for the motor room, help me bro please !!
What size is the red hoses going out to the bays ? Mine has 1/4" poly hoses. I read somewhere if i would use a bigger hose ( 3/8 or 1/2" poly braid) that i would not have to use a foam generator because of the extra space in the hoses gives it enough room to foam up and also the poly braid last alot longer than just the hard poly 1/4" hoses.
Interesting. My hoses are 3/8.
I watched a prior video where you broke down the expenses for the Main St car wash. Thanks for sharing. In those expenses you did not say anything about the soda vending machine. I assume that this is someone else's soda machine and you are charging them rent for it. I am curious about so let us know more about the soda vending machine and how that relates to your car wash business.
It’s Edwin’s
@@CarWashChronicles Who is Edwin?
Do you use a weepmizer or use aintifreeze solution ? I'm in louisiana and dont have much of a freezing hard winters to deal with. well sometimes.
Being in Cali I don’t have that problem bad at all. Maybe 1-2 weeks out of the year lines may freeze. I just ran defreezing wire through my pvc pipes that my hoses run through and put it on a timer so it comes on over night during winter to keep them warm.
How much u spent on it? i mean whole carwash. Thank you!
About 50k from shutdown to open
@@CarWashChronicles that’s a lot of money ,is it profitable ?are you satisfied with what your getting back
RO Water for people that don't know that means Reverse osmosis,i know cause i use to setup and service Aquarium's,good drinking water:-)
Hope you get to try more new stuff
If your ROs GPM ever starts falling, you can acid wash the membranes to get a little more life out of them.
There’s a trick I never knew. Thanks Tyler
@@CarWashChronicles you bet! Pm me if you ever need a guide on it.
Hello, I watch all your videos, I appreciate your work very much and I am opening a self-service car wash in Kosovo Europe.I have learned a lot from your videos
if you come to europe you are welcome as a guest in my house
Hello! That’s awesome. I hope it all works out for you. And that’s very kind. Thank you for the offer. I would love to travel to Europe.
What’s the electricity bill like ?
The higher the better
This is Dope ! 🔥 …Thanks for the content 👍🏾
Of course! Glad you enjoyed!
Do rebuild your pumps yourself?
Havn’t needed to get as I bought new ones when I opened the car wash but when the time comes most likely
👍👍👍
i have a lead on a car wash for lease if youre interested?
Which area? You don’t want it? And thank you that’s very kind. I do give finders fees also.
Sorry I thought I sent you the address a few days ago. 1640 Mill St. Reno NV google the address then go to street view for the phone number.
How does someone learn all of this when looking to buy their first car wash? I don’t want to have to pay someone to do everything!!
HI BRO
Hello 👍🏻
1150 psi/ 75 Bar is Not that much
I do 1500 psi/ 105 bar
It depends also How much Water you use
I have 600 litre/ hour
May Check also your Jets in the Bays, they Worn out Ober the Years
I Wouldn’t make it anymore powerful. I feel bad sometimes when I see woman pull the trigger it pushes them back a bit.
The Recoil appears mostly of the angle before the Jet. I bend the pipe a Little Bit more Straight and the recoil is nicer to handle. A small Woman can easily Handle 2000 psi when the nozzle is complete Straight
Please don't drive when you are recording videos . I think it's the most important thing. 😢
I looked for your phone consultation in the description but can't find it. I know you mentioned IG but I don't use that. If you would post a link to your consultation that'd be great, cheers!
