And you know the tours and the best routes like no one else to maximize the time. This is without a doubt the best UA-cam tourism channel for Spain and Portugal. Total admiration ❤💚

    Hi, Tony! It's wonderful that you plan out the Itinerary by areas of the city instead of listing top 10 or 20 things to do in the city. So much easier to follow the Itinerary! Live it! Even though I just went to Lisbon, I still enjoy watching your Lisbon video.

    Great video Tony and I will definitely make use of the card when ever I am in Lisbon. I think it is worth the price by just having the free transport in the city.

  • @hi5kona
    @hi5kona Місяць тому +1

    Unfortunately the Lisboa card doesn’t have a senior card with an appropriate discounted price. We found many of the national sites, including St George’s Castle, the monastery in Belem, etc., have a 50% discount for people over age 65. Senior tickets can be purchased online to expedite the visit.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Місяць тому

      To be able to establish a comparison it is fundamental to get the facts right. Not all attractions give a 50% discount for seniors. Full price ticket for the castle: 15€. Senior price: 12,50. Lisboa Card: free. The Lisboa Card still provides an unbeatable deal.

    • @hi5kona
      @hi5kona Місяць тому

      Apologies for my error on St. George’s Castle. You are correct that not all offer a 50% discount, but a surprising number do. There is also a good discussion on the Rick Steve’s blog regarding this specific ticket and the assessment for seniors.
      I appreciate the level of detail of your videos and they are tremendously helpful.

      @@hi5kona thank you. On the video we presented our experience with the Lisboa Card but also stressed that each individual should do the numbers to make sure it works for them the way it worked for us. We don't want anyone to buy a product or a service they are not going to profit from.

    HolaTony, (and Cecilia!) que tal! Thank you for a thoroughly informative and detailed video about the Lisboa Card. We are seniors and cannot walk much. 1. Is it smart to drive to the attractions mentioned? 2. Use the card to take the funicular through the narrow streets; to St Justa lift, experience tram 28/12. Muchas gracias!

    Hola Tony, for our 3-day stay in Lisbon, we plan to do the major attractions in one full 24 hour day. Then drive to Porto next day. drive to Sintra and Cascais on the last day. What is your advice? Much appreciated. Muchas gracias!

      Hi, sounds like a mad rush, you must be really fit to plan on doing all that, you'll be exhausted by the end of the day. We recommend a minimum of three or four days for Porto. Sintra and Cascais on the same day are not doable. All the best.

    Hi Tony. Many thanks for all your amazing videos. I have just watched the video using the Lisboa card in 3 days. However we will be in Lisbon in October for 3 weeks. We are over 70 and intend to purchase the travel card with zapping but obviously the Lisboa card is not really an option unless we crammed every site into z3 days. We like to take our time. Are there any other options for us to visit the attractions in your videos besides just paying the full entry fee.
    Obrigada

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

      Hi Barbara, many thanks for your words. If you are going to stay in Lisbon for three weeks (excellent!) the Lisboa Card doesn't make any sense. Check out the rates for the attractions you intend to visit as many include discounts for seniors. We will publish a few new videos on Lisbon in the coming months. All the best!

      Ola Tony
      Many thanks for your invaluable advise concerning the Lisboa card. During our 3 weeks in Lisbon we will take full advantage of the Viva Viagem card with the zapping option as per your video. We will travel to Porto after Lisbon and stay for 2 weeks. I am unable to find a similar option for transport around Porto (as in Lisbon) that is suitable for our length of time. The Andate card seems to be limited for short stays. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

      @@PhilS-op2mt Hi Barbara, you can check here how the Andante card works: ua-cam.com/video/6NoOnxE1xNc/v-deo.html Viva Viagem has now been replaced by a similar card called Navegante, it works in exactly the same way.

    Hi Tony,
    Your videos are excellent. I have watch them all as we are travelling to Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Madrid and Barcelona.
    We arrive at 7:40pm on the 31st of May (Friday). I might just get the metro card to get to the hotel.
    We leave Lisbon on the 5th.
    We are thinking of going to Sintra on the 3rd as you mentioned some of the Museums are closed on Monday.
    There is a 72hr Lisbon card & Pena place card. Is this the best option?
    We can then either buy a 24 hour card for the 4th or just use the metro card that we bought from the airport. What do you think?

    • @peiyuhuang4015
      @peiyuhuang4015 Місяць тому +1

      We just visited Sintra from Lisbon. We decided to join one day tour from Get Your Guide to Sintra which included the entrance ticket to Pena Palace. We felt we made a good decision. It made our visit so much easier and more relax.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Місяць тому

      Hi Satya, we don't think that particular card is a good investment. Buy your return train tickets to Sintra and then buy your tickets in advance (links below), in particular for the Palacio da Pena. You will need a full day to see the basics of Sintra.

I would like to double confirm do you need to go to the booking office to get entrance ticket when you visited Museu Nacional Does coches, Pantrao national, Museu national do Azuléjo? Or you just show your Lisboa card to get in at the entrance? Or there is a kiosk machine to get entrance tickets for Lisboa card holder? Your response is highly appreciated!

Can I just show the QR code to the staff in Porto Sao Bento station or I need to exchange another ticket? As someone with moderate mobility issues I found Lisbon difficult to get around. Lots of hills and cobblestone paths that I was really afraid I would fall on. There’s always strikes on the metro too

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  22 дні тому +1

      Strikes occur, but in 34 years traveling regularly to Lisbon I've never encountered one in the metro, so I wouldn't go as far as claiming there's always strikes on the metro. I've victim of a train strike, though.
