  • Alex Elswick, an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky, overcame addiction despite a privileged upbringing, becoming a beacon of hope for others in recovery. After facing personal struggles with substance abuse, Elswick channeled his experiences into advocacy, co-founding Lexington's Voices of Hope. Through his work and dedication, Elswick aims to address the gaps in resources for those battling addiction, offering support and guidance through various pathways to recovery. Voices of Hope, initially focused on providing access to naloxone, has evolved into a comprehensive recovery community organization, offering vital services such as deaf and hard-of-hearing support and mobile recovery units. Elswick's journey exemplifies resilience and transformation, fueled by his commitment to serving his community and advocating for recovery.
