at this point, it seems beating Hikaru to a game recap is tougher than beating a GM
Levy has the reviews finished earlier, but he uploads them first to Patreon :D
@@gergelyjakovac3063 Probably a doubleedged sword, sure some Patreon revenue, but also people watching Hikaru instead of Gotham, or skipping forward, which hurts the algo. But he literally does not care ;)
@@f.w.7843 true chad watch both videos
@@f.w.7843 He will probably lose a little bit of UA-cam money, as that usually happens when someone opens a Patreon, but likely recoup most of that in Patreon money. It's an investment incase something ever goes wrong with UA-cam, he can still keep one line of income.
Besides, he is the most popular non-GM in the chess world. I think the algorithm barely even matters for him anymore. As long as he keeps frequently uploading, he will find his way into many recommended pages.
bro i said that yesterday you comment stealer
"what's my 5 year plan?"
*bro's soviet side came out*
Great Leap Forward ah plan
Yeah, 5 year plan is no good unless you make it in 2 years
Go Levy Go!!! We are rooting for you
You stole this from Hikaru lol
Oil up rn
Funny seeing you here, Mariano!
Mariano. Awesome to see you are into Gotham. Love both of your channels!
Fun fact: in Australia "rooting" means an intimate activity
When this guy starts talking about using different openings against different opponents, He sounds already like a GM.
Fr haha - thats such a gm thing to do
what i do that and im like 1500 otb
A 1500 OTB rating is basically grandmaster compared to the average chess video watcher.
I knew a guy who was 1300 rated OTB and he was ~top 5 high schoolers in our region.
@@asdf14051 Half the 1500 otb players (1600-1700s now) learn the first five moves of an opening, try to improvise and lands in the weirdest structures ever and is worse on move 12 with 96 minutes on the clock 😂
@@undeniablySomeGuy I just joined a chess club at a rather ripe age... I never had an OTB rating and will get one after my first tournament is seems? Not sure how this works, yet. My online is 1800 or so. After a few games, people at the chessclub said I could join the 3rd team (out of 5). Players in that team are about 1600 OTB. I was actually quite happy to see that I can hold my own in the middle of the pack. The people there have a lot more opening knowledge than me though.

HAHAHA
My man is in such great form. The coach really made him much better and confident. He's definitely getting this norm, and he's gonna earn 30 elo at least.
So explain this to me for a second. He can only get one norm for this tournament right? What does that mean? Does he need to win the tournament or place top 3 to achieve that?
@@sleepycritical6950he needs to achieve a rating performance of 2600.
@@bunnybear4437 What score would that require? I forgot how many rounds this is, but if he drew every game I think he would get a norm yes?
He needs to get 6.5/9 points at the end of the tournament. Currently, he is at 2.5/3 which is very good, but he still has a long way to go. At least, with a start so good you can play for a draw in some games rather than trying to force a win
@@claudiomazzurana1500 and now he is 3/4 there is a a very small chance levy will be able to achieve 6.5/9 but we're all rooting for him.
You clearly always had the skills and capability, but just needed to know how to apply it over the board. Big shout out to your coach for bringing out the best in you so quickly. You seem like a different person in these recaps compared to your previous competitions.

offering a draw while you're +1.5 down is hysterical
Position looks pretty equal if You haven't seen the engine which levy had done in the past
If levy didn't know that black was at a disadvantage in that position he probably would've taken the
Nah he wouldn't have actually
@@QietoI disagree, white just got everything they were playing for and black clearly messed up the opening. They tried to prevent e4 and failed then after e4 got played and the bishops opened up he offered a draw seemed almost offensive. Like bishop pair, open position, displaced dark square bishop, black still had a lot to prove from a gm perspective. The only recourse is maybe they didn’t expect all the pawn gambits and interpreted the position as equal, but it’s pretty clear the position favors white.
And even gay, in a sense
@@michaelscotch69wdym
@@CeceMelchor It doesnt have to look equal to offer a draw, you can be worse without any doubt to both players and still make a fair offer because you are higher rated player and maybe you swindle the game. I dont understund why people get mad to draw offers, like, it's just an offer bro, if you want to continue playing so be it.
Levy never fails to get milked by Hikaru
You wanna be milked too?
Ayo?🤨
Very interesting wording. But it is a symbiotic relationship. Hikaru does something cul Levy makes content. Levy does something good, hikaru gets content .

I love how you keep referencing your coach! It is awesome to see it pay off and that you are in a positive head space. Still a lot of games left but keep it fun, keep it simple, and keep winning my man. You have inspired me to set goals for myself in chess, so thanks!
He’s unbeaten so far, hope he’ll be unbeaten until the end of the tournament ❤

im still confused about how norms work (yes ive read the wikipedia), is it basically just the level of play of the tournament? So this tournament is for gm norms, so its at a high enough level that a non-gm can qualify to become one?

I'm happy for your progress bro.
I'm really liking this new, chill Levi! The bonkers, dramatic Gotham is entertaining, but being level-headed is what will get you to GM.
Well done Levy, keep having fun!!
Super happy for you, and as always I appreciate the big small remarks on how this game works nowadays. I mean the clear small statements on how engine evaluation is not equal to good position, the encouragement to not rush the position, the overall expectations management. I must say that since I've rediscovered chess in late 2022 there are many lessons to be found that work also *outside* chess world! I mean mostly expectations management, disconnect of grading from self worth, self development planning. Thanks for your entertainement, the small chess lessons perfectly laced into entertainment that reignited my interest in this game, and for indirectly helping discover the world of sports psychology that literally helped me also in personal life goals as well as in business.
I hope you get the GM norms! *Raises hands to give you power*

Go Levy!!!
CONGRATULATIONS LEVY YOU DESERVE IT
Levy, this is by far your best chess ever. Kudos to your coach, it is NOT easy getting through to advanced talent in any field. Kudos to you for seeking improvement through a coach. Your recaps are better than ever. If I may be so bold, I would suggest studying Civil War battle plans, Napolean battle plans, and for speed, Gen Patton battle plans. Chess is simulated, simplified war, without ANY loss, so when one puts himself in the place of those battles, one understands pressure. Good job Levy.
Looks like he beat another German Man, can't believe you would be this violent Levy.

It's amazing how much better people perform when they're not losing the head game. Good job Levy. I love seeing this kind of personal development.
Can you teach us that Reti repertoire or put it in a course? When I play Reti, I get good or equal positions against players who have about 300 more points than me.
He got plenty to teach without giving away his openings like that. He's playing competitive right now, remember
A quick recap of the tournament for Levy's position
• Currently 1st place with 4.0 overall
• He won his first round with *GM* Tomas Sosa, which has 2535 elo.
• A draw with *GM* Jose Cuanca, which has 2493 elo.
• A win with *IM* Diego Macias Pino, which has 2471 elo.
• A draw with *FM* Akira Nakada, which has 2414 elo.

I love where your head is at Levy. Seems like your coach is doing a good job and you appear to be responding well. Your thought process is focused and your emotions seem calm. I like where you're at. Love to see it. Go get it.
Levy never fails to milk himself
I just want to share some love Levy. I have already seen your round 4 and 5 outcomes and I just want to say I'm incredibly proud of you. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy seeing you succeed!
Bros gonna be a gm
6.5/9 is a Herculean task. But the toughest part is behind you. From everything I've heard you are 2.5/3 against the top of the tournament and 1.5 of them with black. I know it's unfair pressure at this stage but not losing a single game seems possible, drawing the rest of the games would put you at 5.5/9, so 2 wins and the rest draws seems possible. So glad to see your training paying off and look forward to the rest of the tournament
Wow Gotham is milking himself
I love hearing about Levi's reflections on his coaching, it's super awesome to see how as much Talent as himself still consciously incorporates coaching lessons in times as high stakes as a tournament.
Go Gotham!

Levy's on a roll. Seems so much happier than last time he played an otb tournament. Best luck for the GM norms!!
Levy you're UA-cam and other socials are the reason I started playing chess... at 54 years young.. buying you're book this weekend and looking into you're course. let's see if you can teach an old dog new tricks!!
It's so crazy how a subtle change in move order can mess up your winning position. Rooting for you Levy! You're amazing.
Levy never fails to amaze me with his dedication for Road to GM. Rooting for you, Levy! ❤
So much fun to follow this journey of yours. We're rooting for you Levy!
I'm so happy with you finally getting out of your own way! Congratulations!
Utilizing an unofficial zugzwang of a tense losing position and making moves that allow someone to punch themselves in the face when you can't see a clear knockout is something the engine will almost always hate but I think is an excellent strategy to have at your disposal, well played
dont let the wins get into your head Levi, my problem in chess mentally is underestimating my oponents in better positions and playing carelessly. Rooting for you!
Hikaru’s advice and encouragement seem to have done wonders for your confidence and morale, great job Levy!! Keep it up king (or shall I say, queen)
