I am someone who actually didn’t pass 6th grade and I am genuinely blown away that 54% of Americans can only read and comprehend English below a 6th grade level. I don’t know if I’m just super smart or if people are super dumb.
Well if your audience basically glazes the fuck out of you 99% of the time, it’s not hard to just acknowledge one of your many mistakes so your fanboys stay loyal and they stay slobbin
Not sure if this will get seen but I'm the guy from the speedrun documentary example and I just want to say that I don't hold it against Charlie or others who did reaction videos/streams of it. I've also been on the reaction content roller coaster from enjoying watching it to being skeptical if it really has a place. The UA-cam algorithm remains a bit of a black box and it's totally possible that there was a negative impact from things like reduced viewer retention from reaction viewers coming only coming over to leave a nice comment, or viewers just flat out choosing one video over the other. But who can say for sure. What I do know is that I'm still very happy with the way the video performed and at the time I really enjoyed watching along with the reaction. The fact that it happened at all is something that the hobbit speedrunning community still talks about often. I tried not to think too deeply about it before seeing this and maybe ignorance really is bliss, but do know that I hold no hard feelings about it.
You're a really good dude. I loved your speedrun documentary so much that I watched it three times in a row while working over the course of a week! I'm sorry things didn't work out in the perfect 'blow up get famous' sort of way, but I really appreciated all the love you put into it
It is crazy that people in the US and the UK base their whole personality around how they voted in 2016 (In US for or against Trump and in UK for or against Brexit) but like, it was 8 years ago.
I wouldn’t change anything honestly. It’s literally become a daily routine of mine to watch at LEAST 1 if not 2 of your videos you’ve uploaded to UA-cam or other socials. Can’t stress enough how much your work simply gets me through a rough day. Kudos to you for being open minded, and thick skinned enough to take your criticism head on.
He is literally clickbaiting you but you still watch him, all he does is react to tweets and filler it to make it to 8 minute mark to place even more ads yet you still like it

@sdkdb He does not click bait, that names of his videos usually are titled based off of his humor of being a smart ass which is what people love from him, don’t take it literal if you know him you’ll know why some have different titles stating the opposite, he never click baits
I'd say it's more accurate to say you're a drama disarmer. There's a rule I follow on the Internet: never get involved in a fight/argument/mess that you can't end quickly. You're one of the few people I know of that can submerge themselves into some real messy situations and not only come out unscathed and on top, but also bring such clarity as to end it, or at least it feels that way to me. You're just a truly reasonable person.

As someone who’s been watching Charlie since before 2014, he is insanely happier. I remember binge watching his videos with a friend in study hall, back when he still didn’t show his face. We were watching a video of him fighting something on a bridge and we heard him briefly chuckle because he did something cool and we were just freaking out because we had never heard him laugh before. He used to be so emotionless and monotone. Comparing then and now is night and day, he’s so much more lively now.
i think its awesome that you addressed this because i honestly did miss the content and wonder why you changed directions, but looking at it now it makes sense. You definitely seem happier now than in those videos and good on you man

I think of Charlie more as a news anchor for the internet more than a react channel or gamer which is nice, Its good to have around someone around who people here can go to for whats going on and just feel like an actual person is talking to you other than some other highly scripted or bias source

You mentioned it at the end and I think it's arguably the most important point you made. You have a massive variety of content. I love the new Skill Check D&D campaign, I catch your streams, I watch a lot of your gameplay highlight videos, your drama videos, and tier lists I also skip other stuff. Some of the whacky stories I may skip unless it sounds particularly interesting, maybe skip some stream highlights, not really into the music stuff Doesn't mean it's bad content, just not for me. I do miss your reaction stuff but your 100% right. The only people I follow because of your reacts are Gunnar and Coffeezilla and maybe one or two others
This is the correct way. I go through “seasons” of enjoying various kinds of content and Charlie has his ass spread in variety so some won’t be for some, others won’t be for others, it’s okay.

A lot of the time when people say “your old content was better,” what they actually mean is “I miss the way this made me feel when I was a happy kid instead of a bitter adult with adult responsibilities.”
Literally all nostalgia. Of course Star Wars was amazing when you were 10, but most of those movies are just very mid with some memorable moments. A lot of stuff doesn't hold up when you experience it as an adult. That being said, classic SpongeBob is still elite.
Kids should be spending their childhoods playing sports, making friends, reading novels, and bagging bi... girls. There is no way my son or daughter is going to spend a significant amount of time on the internet or playing video games while everybody else is getting it in.
One thing I want to see is you doing more of those speedrunning competitions. Those recap videos that went for like 50 minutes explaining every glitch and route that was discovered was so fun to watch.
Every time I talk about you and your channel to people, I am always enthusing about how you do SO many things. Like you literally do ALMOST everything, and that is truly why you are my favorite youtuber. Even my Mom loves you now because I started showing her your videos and then I played The Gentle Men for her and now we always sit down and watch MWL together when new episodes come out. All this is to say that I hope you don't think your charles-of-all-trades shenannigans go unappreciated :)
That's not true though, look at all his old flash game videos from 2012-2014 (or the ones that aren't unlisted). They're as funny as ever and far better than anything he has done recently.

I love your content now, and I loved your content then. My absolute favorite era, was the watch with me era. The prison show “Breakout” watch along once made me laugh so hard at 3am my wife was genuinely jealous. Your commentary on anything is next level, especially when you get personally involved and you can physically see it’s something you’re passionate about. Coffeezilla is one of the big channels I love that you cover, even more so I enjoy your coverage of it over Coffee’s, that’s just how good you are at making content. Love your channel Charles, keep being you!
Your side projects are my favorite. The gentle men, the moist wrestling, your comics... all of that is sick! I think your variety is special and the creativity your whole group brings is super cool. I have a suggestion though. As a Florida native you have an untapped goldmine of content. The moisture is very very abundant. You should do everglade safari stuff to go see if you can catch some reptiles or critters. Idk if you guys like nature stuff but I can see you, Matt, and chase wrestling a 20ft python in the swamp
The one thing Charlie used to do that I wish he did more of is speed running. He used to do a fair amount of different speedruns each year and would even compete for records in more than a couple of them. I always found those videos and him talking about his runs to be some of my favorite videos, where I dont really enjoy his regular gaming videos cause its just not my kind of content. I wish he would do more short or meme speedruns again, but he also kinda axed the speedrun challenge thing he was planning to do so maybe he's just less interested in speedrunning in general now.
I like how you posted a full paragraph nicely explaining how you enjoyed his speedruns he would do himself. And then ended it with one sentence about the speed run challenges possible being axed and the responses your getting are like “uuuugh god shut the fuck up about the speed run challenge “ 😂😂 it’s not even like your were shitting on him for it. You just said like used it as an example of him possibly moving away from that type of stuff in general.
Honestly though I like when he covers stories and stuff his gaming videos just suck. Every time I watch him play games he just complains about how awful the game is. Not sure if it’s still that way cause I just stopped watching them he didn’t seem like he was having fun he would just shit talk games he wasn’t even paying attention to and then would say they make no sense. And then if chat was like “well it’s cause you were playing RuneScape on your other monitor during the cutscenes” he’d snap at them his like actually videos are just waaaay better and his streams were he’s just goofing around he seems to be happier and things don’t get at heated lmao
Charlie has his own ESports organization, comic series, band and merch line. I couldn't even think of saying this guy doesn't put any effort into his content.
I actually can’t believe these are the sorts of criticisms you get. I have only been watching since March 2022, but your videos are so interesting to me because they’re all presented in such a genuine way. it never feels forcefully manufactured for the sake of just “content.” The high effort comes from your passion to do so. The thumbnails/titles, video ideas, interactive streams, it all just shows your personality. I always felt this was obvious, but you still had to state many times in the past that you do all this just because it’s fun. Like when you’d find a wacky story, you always make it feel like a conversation or story time with friends. I love watching them everyday. And your variety is massive - news, funny stuff, games, songs, MWL, streams, tier lists, comics, reviews… I mean it goes on and on. I personally like all of it and I watch all of it because I really respect the work you do and the tone you do it in. I dunno how someone can argue against that. You are so passionate. And despite all that, you’re willing to talk about the criticisms too, of which I feel the ones you mentioned are so uncalled for. People are just jealous or blind. You’re an epic person, keep on doing whatever you wanna do and we’re all here for it.

Keep being yourself Charlie (: I love the change you’ve been through ever since your gameplay and commentary videos and if people really thought you put in a lot of effort into those videos are literally dumb lmaoooo BUT I LOVE the low effort videos too like I love the no effort thumbnails compared to the over edited/ filtered clickbait videos or video of you just talking about random topics, “how to tie a tie” is like a really quick simple 2 minute video and probably one of my favorites
First video was the hunger games back in 2018. You have def switched things up a bit since then, and for me personally it’s been very fun to watch the channel go from popular to main stream.
My favorite thing about your channel IS the variety of content you have; from Mr. Krabs speedruns or irresponsibly fast lightning mcqueens or spreading word of the mud wizard, it's all good content and it doesn't confine you to being a stale channel. I remember the first videos I saw of yours were animated essays about Jake Lloyd I think? when you had half as many subscribers, and from there I've grown to really love your content. @@hackerman4582I remember Charlie saying on some video that he feels as happy as he did back when he started. As someone with a super small Channel myself, I can say, I haven’t gotten tired of it and love it as much as I did. Why? I know my purpose and I’ve never drifted from it not matter how much occasional pressure I might see in the comments to evolve in a way I know I don’t want to. People start hating this ‘job’ when they begin to stray from their original intent. Charlie has achieved success through consistency and the fact he remains so calm all the time, that’s a sign to me that he’s got a great relationship and balance with this gig. Shit I find it inspiring. I only began watching his stuff about a year ago. Wish I would’ve started sooner 😭
@@hackerman4582I don't think that's a great point considering Charlie uploads a lot more often than most channels on UA-cam. He does have a lot of drama content but he uploads so frequently that a lot of other variety is mixed in. I don't think we can view his channel in the same way as a channel that uploads weekly or monthly. The output makes it a different situation imo

in terms of the react content thing, i gernerally just look at reactions of games, trailers, cutscenes etc that i really like because idk i like people seeing the games i love and learning to apreciate them
Ive only been subbed a couple of years & enjoy most of your content (which I think is a normal amount when someone posts regularly), even the stuff I wouldnt think Id enjoy like hearing about e-sports & twitch streams. Ive loved seeing vid of you bowling, dancing with your mates, film reviews. You seem like a funny, grounded & decent human being.
Saying Charlie only does one thing, is like saying ice cream only comes in vanilla. The only good thing from subscribing back in the day to RWJ, was seeing the QWOP video, i subscribed and although most channels i subscribed to back then devolved into nothing content, this channel evolved into a plethora of different kinds of content. I stayed for the content, i stayed for the community, i stayed cause Charlie is simply one of the most wholesome people on UA-cam. I liked the content back then, but looking back at those videos, man oh man, i'm glad i matured but more than that, the quality in general has gotten better.

With all due respect, with how (badly) the algorithm works these days, not watching something is no guarantee that it will not haunt your feed. Plus, if someone used to make content you like but then changes what they make it’s pretty dissatisfying.

I didn’t ever know you dealt with collapsed lungs man. I’ve also had 3 and god damn the mental and physical pain going through that is indescribable. I had a good year after my experiences and surgeries of feeling the most anxious and the most awful I’ve ever been. And I salute you for staying strong through that and staying motivated.
Ive also had 3, the worst part BY FAR is the anxiety afterwards. Any small pain or odd thing in the lung region caused me to freak out bad. Hope ur feeling better about the whole thing brother, shit sucks.

I absolutely got anxiety over any little pain in the chest area for years, but have come to accept it’s cramping of the scar tissue and I’ll have to live with that. I also hope you’re doing better man I wouldn’t wish it upon anybody. I couldn’t imagine how families feel having to see that either.
@@schmoovin2915 In 2017, after I told my multiple times, and after she went to the doc, she was hospitalized with 2 very large abscesses in her left lung. She was in the hospital for 3 weeks. I told her over and over that there was something wrong and the doc was not diagnosing it properly. She was close to dying. She has mostly recovered and is in much better health than before her collapsed lung. It was a very painful experience.

I’m kind of an OG. Been around since you were at like ~50k subs. Your Oregon Trail videos were the greatest thing to ever happen to my friend group back in middle school/early high school. I think it’s not only good that you’ve evolved, it’s NECESSARY. People staying the same for 10+ years of content creation will lead them to eventually burn out and disappear. I enjoyed your content back in the day, and I enjoy your content now. It’s different, but still good. I think your channel is in a very good state.
I personally disagree, most of the people I watch are people that largely haven’t changed in their character and content but maybe just updated format or topics slightly
Big agree, I loved Critikal's old videos so much but I also really enjoy the direction his content has shifted in. Growth and change is inevitable and his videos are still super entertaining
Charlie is a very neutral UA-camr. He's effectively an everyman who gives usually a pretty reasonable, middle of the road take on things, and makes some unique content in the areas that interest him. People who go out of their way to hate on someone like that really must have nothing going on in their lives
That does have downsides though. His awful Idubbz take is what made me realize that I shouldn’t hold him and UA-camrs on a pedestal. Charlie has done bad things in his career but that’s something you can say about anyone really
i think people miss "reacting" in stream because it felt like we were all watching something together. its not about reacting itself its about being able to watch a thing as a community and chat about it
Yes, let's not forget all the other stuff Charlie does on YT other than "streaming drama": running an Esports org, tier lists, wacky videos w/friends (that inlcude but are not limited to risking their tastebuds for spicy food, shooting guns, or doing an olympic-style competition), speedrun incentives, playing new games, podcast, D&D, reviewing movies, going over news....ah yes, he's definitely ONLY a drama channel. Keep doing you Charlie.

I don’t often comment or participate in chat but I want to tell you that your content has been one of my biggest comforts. You have brought joy in the days that I was stuck in a hospital room with death looming around me. My worst days have always been made a bit brighter after I watch a stream or video. When my illnesses get bad and I can’t get out of the house , I enjoy having something comforting that I can watch a loose myself in. Your videos have been with me through my diagnosis, treatment, recovery, diagnosis again, and now when I’m finally feeling like I can live without fearing that death is around the corner. I know you may not see this and it’s not as relevant to the video, but I want to thank you with all my heart for everything you do and the videos that you put your heart into. Thank you for being passionate and a nice person to watch through all moments in my life.

Yea I get that that if you're watching him watch a video/play dialogue heavy game it might be a little annoying that he thanks FartSharter69 for sub but that's stream dude, just watch someone else do playthrough on yt. MANY people do that kind of solo playthrough and that's why where you should go.
I love that the example for your old school video is the Halo Reach Forklift video. I had never seen a single one of your videos when one of my best friends sent me the link to it on OG facebook messenger 13 years ago. It seems like ages ago. It hurts to say that he has since passed. But that video and many of your others became a staple of my friend group. We'd hang out playing Halo or MW2 or Rock Band with your stuff going in the background. Not so much because of "lol random bad words and toilet humor" but moreso because your videos exemplified the kind of warmth and goofiness that my buddies and I still have to this day. The best part about this particular video to me is that I still hear the phrase "BIG HIT....BIIIIIIG HIT" not in your voice but in my friend's. Thank you for your videos, both new and old
Ironically that’s my only criticism, not a fan at all of covering when a generic streamer does generic scumbag stuff, so I feel a 10 minute video gossiping about “douchy thing is douchy”, is a wasted potential that could’ve been spent covering a sea of things that happen on the daily, it’s especially frustrating when Mutahar (Some Ordinary Gamers) does actual research and documentation on a subject then out comes Charlie with no new information except from word of mouth that Muta probably already covered within the first 2 minutes

I really didnt expect a video like this from you (or anyone really wow) but I do agree that I used to enjoy your content more when it was more goofy in like 2019-2020. back then you would just go on youtube and react to bad cooking videos and make fun of them but now it feels more like something bad happens and you tell us why it is bad. there have been some good old-style videos recently but they are the minority. Your content is still enjoyable, it can still make me laugh, part of the reason why I still follow you, its just more often that not the main point of the video is complaining about something with some jokes inbetween, rather than the point of the video being to be funny if it makes sense. again, fully respect your attitude to take a step back and see what other people are thinking, very mature and humble
I think his content is just flat out better now. I mean you can argue his old content is better or more comedic/less sensitive, but now its delved into a lot of different things and truthfully he has absolutely no reason to change what he's doing. His personality and videos cater to so many different audiences that there is simply nothing I can criticize him for whatsoever
I watched since those "golden days" and yes back then i loved those videos i was in highscool at the time and thats just it i watch till this day (not as often cause im a struggling dude) but the way i see is you either grow with the content creator or get stuck in a certain way and im glad youve been able to change what you do and still enjoy it as much as you do, cheers Charlie! keep having fun and enjoying life as you see fit
The best thing about Charlie is he never forgets to say "that's about it, seeya" at the end of his videos. What I do miss from the old videos is when he used to say "let's get this shit"

Always appreciate how grounded Charlie has been. Even all the way back last decade when he made a video about his monetised videos and giving 100% of charity due to being uncomfortable with getting paid for his content.
Been watching your content for many years now and honestly seeing your work evolve and you as a person grow and change has been really cool. People probably misconstrue “lazy” with “relaxed”. It’s not that your content is low effort (referring to the sit down type of videos where you talk to the camera and there’s minimal editing), it’s that it’s just relaxed and concentrated. You don’t fill your videos with loud edits and you make very little cuts so people may think that because you’re not over editing you don’t care, which I find to be far from the reality that you’re just very confident in your style of storytelling and that its well deserved confidence. Love your videos and your music and I always look forward to your uploads since I first started watching almost a decade ago now.
So agreed, flashy crappy videos edits hurt!!! If you want an example of one of my favorite dog trainers, has now piss me off flashes during his DOG training videos, sooooo unnecessary. It is painful.
Tbh i don't think its misconstrued, i think people interpret these types of videos as lazy and there is some truth to it. Lazy isn't always bad, you can be lazy to have an easier time doing something, get it done quick.
It’s insane to me that the vast majority of subscribers weren’t around in the gameplay commentary era. I loved those videos but I’m still glad he began to show his face and you can tell he’s in a better place. I do miss those videos

I like charlie's stuff, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't call it quality. It's actually kinda lame that people tend to watch some guy talk for 12 minutes more than they watch people who make super complex research and editing for basically no audience. Charlie got extremely lucky to foster his audience, and pointing that out gets you angry mobs pretending there aren't tens of thousands of creators who make genuine quality content who put far more effort for a comparatively negligible return.
@@SmashedTomatoes Most of the time, people aren't coming for the content he's covering, but rather Charlie himself. Charlie himself constantly talks about how he got extremely lucky. Just because some people make more quality content, that doesn't mean others should throw in the towel. Media would be boring if creators had a monopoly on content.
I love watching you and listening to the stuff you find on UA-cam/news/tiktok. My husband hates all the streamers I bounce around to. But when I bring up one of yours, he loves listening to your humor and how you talk about the subject of that stream. Whenever I come across another UA-camr that mentions you, they will speak very highly of you. You will never please all the people all of the time, but I do believe you make many more people laugh than not. It’s only people with personal issues that are jealous of you and need to criticize you to make themselves feel good and possibly smarter than you. The people who genuinely like and love you and your content hardly post. I think you know this, you just need to keep remembering that it is true. You are truly an awesome dude!😊
I remember when you were still a faceless youtuber. You even mentioned in some videos how tough of a time you were having and I remember getting sad a few times despite the many laughs. You do seem happier now than you did in the past. If anything youre just a mirror to how they feel about themselves for this one. Some people had genuine criticisms but most were just "im mad he changed and i didnt :("
I've been here since you played horror games completely deadpan. I love growing alongside channels and watching them change over the years. Was just watching Muta before this and thinking about how his content has changed too. It's all good stuff.

People who are startled or offended when longtime creators' content changes are the same people who expect those creators to remain 14 years old well into adulthood. Nostalgia is real, but it's a hell of a lot more fun to watch a person grow, and a singular joy to be able to be included even tangentially in that journey via their content. I think the reason there's criticism about the stream highlights is that before, you could tell which videos were stream reposts by the thumbnail, and now it feels like a stream jumpscare. Before, I would know what I was going to watch, so I would watch the stream videos when I was in the mood to watch a stream video.

Not sure if this will get seen but I'm the guy from the speedrun documentary example and I just want to say that I don't hold it against Charlie or others who did reaction videos/streams of it.
I've also been on the reaction content roller coaster from enjoying watching it to being skeptical if it really has a place. The UA-cam algorithm remains a bit of a black box and it's totally possible that there was a negative impact from things like reduced viewer retention from reaction viewers coming only coming over to leave a nice comment, or viewers just flat out choosing one video over the other. But who can say for sure. What I do know is that I'm still very happy with the way the video performed and at the time I really enjoyed watching along with the reaction. The fact that it happened at all is something that the hobbit speedrunning community still talks about often.
I tried not to think too deeply about it before seeing this and maybe ignorance really is bliss, but do know that I hold no hard feelings about it.

I'd say it's more accurate to say you're a drama disarmer. There's a rule I follow on the Internet: never get involved in a fight/argument/mess that you can't end quickly. You're one of the few people I know of that can submerge themselves into some real messy situations and not only come out unscathed and on top, but also bring such clarity as to end it, or at least it feels that way to me. You're just a truly reasonable person.

As someone who’s been watching Charlie since before 2014, he is insanely happier. I remember binge watching his videos with a friend in study hall, back when he still didn’t show his face. We were watching a video of him fighting something on a bridge and we heard him briefly chuckle because he did something cool and we were just freaking out because we had never heard him laugh before. He used to be so emotionless and monotone. Comparing then and now is night and day, he’s so much more lively now.

A lot of the time when people say “your old content was better,” what they actually mean is “I miss the way this made me feel when I was a happy kid instead of a bitter adult with adult responsibilities.”
Literally all nostalgia. Of course Star Wars was amazing when you were 10, but most of those movies are just very mid with some memorable moments. A lot of stuff doesn't hold up when you experience it as an adult. That being said, classic SpongeBob is still elite.
Kids should be spending their childhoods playing sports, making friends, reading novels, and bagging bi... girls. There is no way my son or daughter is going to spend a significant amount of time on the internet or playing video games while everybody else is getting it in.

I love your content now, and I loved your content then. My absolute favorite era, was the watch with me era. The prison show “Breakout” watch along once made me laugh so hard at 3am my wife was genuinely jealous. Your commentary on anything is next level, especially when you get personally involved and you can physically see it’s something you’re passionate about. Coffeezilla is one of the big channels I love that you cover, even more so I enjoy your coverage of it over Coffee’s, that’s just how good you are at making content. Your side projects are my favorite. The gentle men, the moist wrestling, your comics... all of that is sick! I think your variety is special and the creativity your whole group brings is super cool. I have a suggestion though. As a Florida native you have an untapped goldmine of content. The moisture is very very abundant. You should do everglade safari stuff to go see if you can catch some reptiles or critters. Idk if you guys like nature stuff but I can see you, Matt, and chase wrestling a 20ft python in the swamp
The one thing Charlie used to do that I wish he did more of is speed running. He used to do a fair amount of different speedruns each year and would even compete for records in more than a couple of them. I always found those videos and him talking about his runs to be some of my favorite videos, where I dont really enjoy his regular gaming videos cause its just not my kind of content. I wish he would do more short or meme speedruns again, but he also kinda axed the speedrun challenge thing he was planning to do so maybe he's just less interested in speedrunning in general now.

I actually can’t believe these are the sorts of criticisms you get. I have only been watching since March 2022, but your videos are so interesting to me because they’re all presented in such a genuine way. it never feels forcefully manufactured for the sake of just “content.” The high effort comes from your passion to do so. The thumbnails/titles, video ideas, interactive streams, it all just shows your personality. I always felt this was obvious, but you still had to state many times in the past that you do all this just because it’s fun. Like when you’d find a wacky story, you always make it feel like a conversation or story time with friends. I love watching them everyday.
And your variety is massive - news, funny stuff, games, songs, MWL, streams, tier lists, comics, reviews… I mean it goes on and on. As someone with a super small Channel myself, I can say, I haven’t gotten tired of it and love it as much as I did. Why? Ive only been subbed a couple of years & enjoy most of your content (which I think is a normal amount when someone posts regularly), even the stuff I wouldnt think Id enjoy like hearing about e-sports & twitch streams. Ive loved seeing vid of you bowling, dancing with your mates, film reviews. You seem like a funny, grounded & decent human being.
Saying Charlie only does one thing, is like saying ice cream only comes in vanilla. The only good thing from subscribing back in the day to RWJ, was seeing the QWOP video, i subscribed and although most channels i subscribed to back then devolved into nothing content, this channel evolved into a plethora of different kinds of content. I stayed for the content, i stayed for the community, i stayed cause Charlie is simply one of the most wholesome people on UA-cam. I liked the content back then, but looking back at those videos, man oh man, i'm glad i matured but more than that, the quality in general has gotten better.

Ive also had 3, the worst part BY FAR is the anxiety afterwards. Any small pain or odd thing in the lung region caused me to freak out bad. Hope ur feeling better about the whole thing brother, shit sucks.

I absolutely got anxiety over any little pain in the chest area for years, but have come to accept it’s cramping of the scar tissue and I’ll have to live with that. I also hope you’re doing better man I wouldn’t wish it upon anybody. I couldn’t imagine how families feel having to see that either.

@@schmoovin2915 In 2017, after I told my multiple times, and after she went to the doc, she was hospitalized with 2 very large abscesses in her left lung. She was in the hospital for 3 weeks. I told her over and over that there was something wrong and the doc was not diagnosing it properly. She was close to dying. She has mostly recovered and is in much better health than before her collapsed lung. It was a very painful experience.

I’m kind of an OG. Been around since you were at like ~50k subs. Your Oregon Trail videos were the greatest thing to ever happen to my friend group back in middle school/early high school. I think it’s not only good that you’ve evolved, it’s NECESSARY. People staying the same for 10+ years of content creation will lead them to eventually burn out and disappear. I enjoyed your content back in the day, and I enjoy your content now. It’s different, but still good. I think your channel is in a very good state.
I personally disagree, most of the people I watch are people that largely haven’t changed in their character and content but maybe just updated format or topics slightly

Charlie is a very neutral UA-camr. He's effectively an everyman who gives usually a pretty reasonable, middle of the road take on things, and makes some unique content in the areas that interest him. People who go out of their way to hate on someone like that really must have nothing going on in their lives

You have brought joy in the days that I was stuck in a hospital room with death looming around me. My worst days have always been made a bit brighter after I watch a stream or video. When my illnesses get bad and I can’t get out of the house , I enjoy having something comforting that I can watch a loose myself in. Your videos have been with me through my diagnosis, treatment, recovery, diagnosis again, and now when I’m finally feeling like I can live without fearing that death is around the corner. I know you may not see this and it’s not as relevant to the video, but I want to thank you with all my heart for everything you do and the videos that you put your heart into. Thank you for being passionate and a nice person to watch through all moments in my life.

I love that the example for your old school video is the Halo Reach Forklift video. I had never seen a single one of your videos when one of my best friends sent me the link to it on OG facebook messenger 13 years ago. It seems like ages ago. It hurts to say that he has since passed. But that video and many of your others became a staple of my friend group. We'd hang out playing Halo or MW2 or Rock Band with your stuff going in the background. Not so much because of "lol random bad words and toilet humor" but moreso because your videos exemplified the kind of warmth and goofiness that my buddies and I still have to this day.
The best part about this particular video to me is that I still hear the phrase "BIG HIT....BIIIIIIG HIT" not in your voice but in my friend's. Thank you for your videos, both new and old

Ironically that’s my only criticism, not a fan at all of covering when a generic streamer does generic scumbag stuff, so I feel a 10 minute video gossiping about “douchy thing is douchy”, is a wasted potential that could’ve been spent covering a sea of things that happen on the daily, it’s especially frustrating when Mutahar (Some Ordinary Gamers) does actual research and documentation on a subject then out comes Charlie with no new information except from word of mouth that Muta probably already covered within the first 2 minutes

I really didnt expect a video like this from you (or anyone really wow) but I do agree that I used to enjoy your content more when it was more goofy in like 2019-2020. back then you would just go on youtube and react to bad cooking videos and make fun of them but now it feels more like something bad happens and you tell us why it is bad. there have been some good old-style videos recently but they are the minority.
Your content is still enjoyable, it can still make me laugh, part of the reason why I still follow you, its just more often that not the main point of the video is complaining about something with some jokes inbetween, rather than the point of the video being to be funny if it makes sense.

Always appreciate how grounded Charlie has been. Even all the way back last decade when he made a video about his monetised videos and giving 100% of charity due to being uncomfortable with getting paid for his content.
Been watching your content for many years now and honestly seeing your work evolve and you as a person grow and change has been really cool. People probably misconstrue “lazy” with “relaxed”. It’s not that your content is low effort (referring to the sit down type of videos where you talk to the camera and there’s minimal editing), it’s that it’s just relaxed and concentrated. You don’t fill your videos with loud edits and you make very little cuts so people may think that because you’re not over editing you don’t care, which I find to be far from the reality that you’re just very confident in your style of storytelling and that its well deserved confidence. Love your videos and your music and I always look forward to your uploads since I first started watching almost a decade ago now.

Tbh i don't think its misconstrued, i think people interpret these types of videos as lazy and there is some truth to it. Lazy isn't always bad, you can be lazy to have an easier time doing something, get it done quick.
It’s insane to me that the vast majority of subscribers weren’t around in the gameplay commentary era. I loved those videos but I’m still glad he began to show his face and you can tell he’s in a better place. I do miss those videos

It's actually kinda lame that people tend to watch some guy talk for 12 minutes more than they watch people who make super complex research and editing for basically no audience. Charlie got extremely lucky to foster his audience, and pointing that out gets you angry mobs pretending there aren't tens of thousands of creators who make genuine quality content who put far more effort for a comparatively negligible return.

I love watching you and listening to the stuff you find on UA-cam/news/tiktok. My husband hates all the streamers I bounce around to. But when I bring up one of yours, he loves listening to your humor and how you talk about the subject of that stream.
Whenever I come across another UA-camr that mentions you, they will speak very highly of you.
You will never please all the people all of the time, but I do believe you make many more people laugh than not.
It’s only people with personal issues that are jealous of you and need to criticize you to make themselves feel good and possibly smarter than you.

People who are startled or offended when longtime creators' content changes are the same people who expect those creators to remain 14 years old well into adulthood. Nostalgia is real, but it's a hell of a lot more fun to watch a person grow, and a singular joy to be able to be included even tangentially in that journey via their content. I think the reason there's criticism about the stream highlights is that before, you could tell which videos were stream reposts by the thumbnail, and now it feels like a stream jumpscare. Before, I would know what I was going to watch, so I would watch the stream videos when I was in the mood to watch a stream video.
