My mom from Poland traveled to Sarajevo in 1988, in those days traveling abroad for someone from a communist state was reaaaally something you know🤣. She liked it very much, said that it was wonderful to see different cultures that live in harmony and peace. And it's amazing that so close to Poland we have a country that is "differently Slavic but still Slavic". The people were very nice, she lived in the house of the Muslim-Serbian family and this family was so lovely, just ordinary family like among us. She even wanted to live in Bosnia in the future after her graduation from university. She never expected that something so bad could happen. Watched TV every day, read the newspapers to know how the situation looks like. She visited Bosnia for the second time after the war in 2010 and tried to find the house where she lived. Today this house is no longer there, in its place there is a small factory. It is not really known what happened to this couple marriage. Neighbors who lived here before the war only know that the son and daughter went abroad.
The break-up of Yugoslavia was the worst decision eveeeer. Extreme Nationalism is a threat to all countries, but sometimes it's too late to stop them. The war did not bring any solution, it gave even more reasons for hatred :/
So many bad things happened there, it's really sad.
