A small build video of the Trumpeter 1/32 Rhino. Not too bad a kit to put together. The fuselage wasn't a great fit and required a bit of puttying and clamping.
I have the same plane sitting in the box and plan on doing the same scheme as you. You did a REALLY nice job on this. I will admit I don’t care for the instructions. I found the first step to be confusing and frustrating regarding what gets painted and what color. I understand it’s not a Tamiya, but they could have done better.
Thank you very much. Definitely not as perfect as a Tamiya kit but still very challenging - and trying at times. Good luck with your build. I look forward to seeing videos and photos of it. Cheers
@@I.C.Models Ian I learned a long time ago that perfection doesn’t exist. But I will tell you that I am staying away from the Revell 1/32 Super Hornet. That I heard from dozens of sources is a total nightmare. This is supposed to be fun! I have Tamiya F-15E and F-16CJ but for some reason I also like Trumpeter. They make decent stuff.
Also, if you get a chance to see the real thing, do it. No Y/T video can do it justice. It’s a lot larger and significantly louder than you can imagine in person.
@@I.C.Models I didn’t know that we sold these to you. Wasn’t sure how AU would use them as they are carrier based as you know with chunky struts and foldable wings. Treat yourself once and make sure to bring earplugs. 🤣😂
Great job man. Im 52 and just now getting into models. I cant stop doing them. My first model was a 1:800 Kitty Hawk where I didnt paint anything until assembled. Never again obviously. I want to do this build next. Thanks. 1. What paint do you recommend? 2. Airbrush or brushes? 3. What brand model (Im a more realistic super detailed guy) do you recommend? Im currently favoring Academy. Thanks again, I appreciate any info you want to give.
Thanks mate. Very much appreciated. I only got back into it 3 years ago because of covid lock downs. 1. I usually use Tamiya or Mr Color paints but there are lots of great ones out there. 2. I use the Harder and Steenbeck 0.15 airbrush for fine details and cheap Chinese ones for larger areas. Iwata is another great brand, I'd like to get one of those one day. 3. Can't really go past Tamiya for quality. Academy is good, detail isn't as good as Tamiya but still pretty good to build. All the best mate. Enjoy your builds and watch lots of UA-cam videos. There are heaps of great Modellers on here to learn from.
Thanks Gabriel. I think it was actually grey colour for the cockpit panels. I usually use Dulux clear plastic primer for the cockpit and landing gear/bays. The other primer I use is Mr Surfacer Black. All the best with your build mate.
Hi mate, this one didn't require any counterweights in the nose to balance the plane. The Tomcat and Hornet are pretty good. The Warthog and Viper models I've done, I've had to use counterweights.
Thank you. I usually spray a couple of coats of gloss then leave for 24 hours and brush a coat of thinned down oil based black and wipe it off after a few minutes.
Very nice. Good looking kit. Just finished the 1/48 Hasegawa Superhornet
Thank you very much. The Hasegawa looks like a nice kit too

Awesome build buddy
Thank you mate 🙂

I'd love to see the real thing. Our air force in Australia flies them. Unfortunately where I live they don't do many air shows

@@I.C.Models Thanks very much Ian. Youre a good man my friend. Cheers.
Very nice build Ian, I think this is my next one! may I ask which primer you used for the cockpit at 0:33 of your video? Thank you for the content!

Hello, Ian! Can you tell me if you needed to put any counterweights in the nose of the aircraft to keep it from tipping back?
Hi mate, this one didn't require any counterweights in the nose to balance the plane. The Tomcat and Hornet are pretty good. The Warthog and Viper models I've done, I've had to use counterweights.
When you wipe away the weathering are you using a moist paper towel? With water I assume?
It's lightly moist but with mineral turps cause it's oil based paint
Nice! What wash do you use for the panel lines?
Thank you. I usually spray a couple of coats of gloss then leave for 24 hours and brush a coat of thinned down oil based black and wipe it off after a few minutes.
Nice build... no pylon 4 armament?
Thank you very much. No I made it like it was in maintenance. I have another one which I'll build with weapons on it
This is a nice kit, what brand and where can I get it? Thanks!
It is a great kit to make, a little challenging but worth it. It's made by Trumpeter. I got mine from Ebay
@@I.C.Models thanks for the fast reply. Will give it a go :)
@@camovecmin4968 good luck mate. You'll enjoy it.
