This is good. Math has that Lord Jamar quality where he doesn’t let Vlad go off the rails. When he said, “Dame Dash isn’t where he wants to be”, Math compared him to Andre 3000. He could make records and play venues, but he doesn’t want to. He’s comfortable with where he’s at and doesn’t want to ascend any higher. Whether it’s true for Dame Dash or not, Vlad could never know that and either can anyone else.

Excellent point you made however there's a slight difference between Andre3k and Dame.While Andre stopped making music/touring because he's at peace with whatever he's doing now,the same can't be said for Dame...Dame was forced into where he is now because every single thing he did after the break up of ROC failed. He failed with dipset(they broke up),failed with Currency(Currency sued him),Poppinton University, different movie ventures(he was sued here too),Dame dash TV,oh and the motor oil business...He was forced into retirement.

I think Dame needed what happened. Money and Flash was a huge part of his identity back then. But, you could slowly see each time he went through something - especially the broken relationships / partnerships - that he has evolved that conversation or identity into something more rooted in whatever his morals and principles are, above the money and gettin’ fly. Which is a good thing. He tried breaking several artists, he tried getting big film deals, he even tried starting his own band with HIM as the vocalist. He definitely wanted to recreate the magic under his own imprint. But, as the saying goes… You’re born looking like your parents, you die looking like your choices. And He seems focused and content now, even a bit calmer, outside of the music biz. So as far as his PUBLIC persona, it is much more solid now. And that is why people love his interviews. He got a wise uncle vibe now

I have been following Dame Dash for many years and his biggest mistake was that he started way too many companies at the same time with his bag of money after Roc-A-Fella. That clothing brand CEO, America Nu magazine, Tiret watches, Armadale vodka, DD172 and so on. A real entrepreneur knows that you can never spread your focus over that many start-ups and expect them to be a success. In later years he sold Dusko motor oil, Dusko wine and whiskey. He also did something with American football that also came to nothing.
You can always start something, but the point is that you can turn it into a profitable company that is financially healthy and continues to grow in the long term with the right vision and strategy.
So now he presents himself as some kind of lifestyle guru that he can support financially through the relationships he has created in the past.
So yeah he was in competition with Jay in who will be the most successful after the Roc. And he was trying his best to become a billionaire. And maybe still is, who knows.
