I'm 53 seconds in and you mention my beloved Microsoft Money !! I'm currently still using it (you read that right) after finding a workaround for my PC but I am considering moving to a chromebox which means everything has to be done online !! There is hope !
New to mint, the category breakdown is pretty great, it does require minimal tweaking for my preferences but I’m finding really helpful, never realized how much I spend on food
Great video - I have used Mint sporadically through the years - ie I have a lot of transactions that fall under uncategorized or everything else. If you were to suggest how to tackle older transactions and current transactions - where would you start? If you want to start all new transaction categories , would you start those in Budget to create categories that make sense to you? Thanks for your help -
If you have a bunch of older transactions, I might just ignore them and start fresh. The beginning of a new year is a good time to do that! I know the lack of flexibility in budget categories is one of the things that I like the least about Mint. When I have helped others set up budgets, I have used the following budget categories as a starting point: Food (Groceries + Dining out) Housing (Mortgage + Utilities) Transportation Personal Kids Household Insurance Tech (Internet/TV/Phone) Health (Medical/Dental) Gifts (Charity, Xmas, Other) Other
Thank you! Loved your clear and concise explanations! I wish I watched it before I figured some things out myself! I'm going to watch your other two videos too!
New to mint. confused about what is happening with the transactions when I check it with a blue checkmark, because they are listed in the correct category. There is no "submit" button.
When you talked about "Budgeting your income on the right side, you actual income of the left" that made everything click. The concept of budgeting my income did not make sense immediately and the Mint website help is terrible. Thank you!
This was useful, because I thought Mint was more of a general finance tracking application. But I see it's really more of just a budgeting tool. In that case, what is the point of tracking credit cards here? They're not really part of your budget. Paying them is, but that's just a budget category for your bank account to me. Knowing their balances is obviously important, but it doesn't seem like that's part of your budget.
It’s sort of depends on how you use your credit cards. For my household, we use credit cards for most expenses and then pay it all off at the end of the month. Because most of our transactions are on our credit cards, it’s useful to have them as part of our budget. That way, I don’t have to split the big credit card payment transaction into lots of different categories. Does that make sense?
Is it possible to nest categories deeper than two? In Quicken I can create a seemingly unlimited nesting of categores, such as: Pets - Pet Food - Dry - Kibble. Is that possible in Mint? Or am I limited to just two levels, such as Pets - Pet Food?
Hello, thanks for this. I know you have a couple more videos coming however I wanted to know if you've compared Mint against Yolt and Monzo and if so why Mint is your app of choice. Thanks in advance
Great introduction and I don't think you are actually giving them your login details, although it looks like it. You are most likely entering your password to your banking platform API connected to Mint's website, which is granting Mint read only access.
As far as budgets, it seems that you can only create a single budget which can contain multiple categories, but can you create a completely different budget, independent of the first, where the second budget can contain the same or different categories?
Is it safe to put all your private info??? And how do you separate it, for example, I have two debit cards and one credit card how its gonna be separated??? I am afraid of giving my personal information. Thank you, very much appreciated. By the way, I never did this before that's why I still don't have much idea.
That is a choice you will have to grapple with. I decided to put in my info, but it’s definitely a choice of convenience over locked down security. The accounts appear separately, but you can choose to view all of your transactions together as well. Hard to explain, but obvious when you see it!
This sounds great, but maybe a bit too much for what I need. I just want to manually enter my bills, and my paydays, and have reminders of when to pay things. Granted, I didn't watch the whole video.
You may want to check out the EveryDollar app, which may be more suitable to your needs. I’m working on an overview/tutorial now, but it’s a simpler solution to budgeting.

You are a saint. This was so well-explained and thoughtfully prepared. Thanks.
Wow, really professional video. A refreshing change from much of the content on UA-cam. Thanks!
watching this in 2022. thanks!
This was just what I needed to be able to use Mint quickly, thank you!
Thank you! I have avoided Mint because I thought I could not change or add categories. I plan to give it a try. Very helpful!
Great job. Don't know why anybody would give you a thumbs down

You can export specific data from the trends screen. Select the category, scroll to the bottom, and hit 'export to csv'.
Thanks sooo much. Very clear and informative. I look forward to watching and learning more from you! Thanks for all your time, work, and sharing!
Great review. Thanks for highlighting the split function - I just started using the program and could not find it.

Great video! I've suggested MINT to my grandchildren, get the kids into savings early!

@@marblejarchannel Ah good point.
Very well explained. Thank you!
I'd love to see a video covering budgeting! Thanks for the helpful video.
Dovid Stern, I would too!

I think you are limited to only two levels for categories.
love first video, i need info on the income side--i am a bookkeeper and am having a hard time understanding the in and out of the money

I’ve checked out a couple of others, but these weren’t on my list! Thanks for the tip - I’ll take a look at them.

I don’t believe so. Mint is good at gathering your transactions in one place, but not great at the budgeting function.
Great VIDEO....To HIDE an account, Do I select DELETE ?
It should be Hide in settings rather than Delete.
@@marblejarchannel Thank you for your QUICK RESPONSE...much appreciated !
Can you use Mint as a budget/report generating tool without connecting to your bank account?
I suppose, but you would have to manually enter each of the transactions.
Do you work for Mint? Not sure since you have green background and leaves.
Nope -- I'm just a user like anyone else!
Great tutorial, thanks!
Trying to figure out how to track bills and connect them to bank's autopay
What's the check boxes for on the left side of Transactions?
So helpful, thank you!
I don’t see a lot of these options on the mobile app. Does it make sense to only use mobile?
Hi, Marjory -- I wouldn't use Mint if I couldn't also access it from a browser on a PC or Mac. The feature set is much more narrow on a mobile device.
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!

If you don't want to export everything, you can filter by the date!
Good to know!
Thank you
Thank ma’am
Can I change currencies?
I don’t think so, unfortunately.
Do you balance your checkbook in Mint??? CAN you (or anyone) balance your checkbook with mint????
Nope - unfortunately, I haven’t figured out how to do that either.
It is not pulling my transactions from the bank account daily. 😼
Treat or trick
