"a special one", as in, he thinks he is special because he's won the Champions League, further emphasised in his "I have nothing to prove..." interview (also in this montage video).
He also thought Sir Alex Ferguson was "special" and all the other managers who had won the Champions League, not just himself.

Mourinho needs to be loved by his fans, and they've been treating him like a king from day 1. United and Spurs were 2 very unlucky spells because there's a lot wrong at those clubs from the top down.

As a Liverpool fan I have a hatred of him on a sporting level, but he’s absolutely box office and a superb manager. Biggest mistake Man U made was sacking him instead of ousting the blighted deadwood in the dressing room. If they’d listened to him when he was criticising and falling out with certain players, Utd would be 5 years ahead of the rebuilding they currently need. Top manager.

Agree with both of you. He improves players if they’re on board with his methods. Chris Smalling is another player who looks completely different for Roma than he was at Utd. Top class manager who wanted to fix the toxic Utd dressing room and they didn’t back him. Now look at the state of them.

To me, peak Jose was walking round the pitch with one finger in the air after the 1-0 loss but aggregate win against Barcelona with inter Milan. Everything I love about him (and everything you may well hate) is exemplified and concentrated in that moment. Peak, vintage Jose at probably the height of his powers. Football heritage

I hate how much Chelsea fans turned on him after his second sacking. We have won six league titles in our history and he won half of them in five full seasons and two where he was sacked before the new year (though the second time was deserved).

He achieved more than any other manager since SAF retired while he was also given the least amount of resources to work with. Jose Mourinho refuses to die, keeps proving the media and pundits wrong. One of the best coaches in history for me because of what he pulls off with what he is given.
This is only for the Premier League... in Portugal he had great moments as well!! Just after getting in FC Porto (he got there 5 games till the end of the season) the team lost 3-0 at home... He came to the interview, didnt let any reporter speak, and talked about passion to the shirt : Finally he said "Next year, in normal circumstances we´ll be champions... in abnormal circumstances, we´ll still be champions!!" (Banged the table and left).
