Mourinho literally won the league, Europa League, and Champions League with Porto Ended the invincible team's dominance in the midst of Ferguson's United and European champions Liverpool. Twice on the spin. He got 95 points, 15 goals conceded, 72 scored, only 1 loss in his FIRST season. The very same ‘invincible’ team was trying to retain their title. He made the 433 more popular in England & both Wenger and Fergie switched from their famous 442’s to a 433 in the following years. Continued to win with Inter, won the only treble in the history of Italian football in his second season, on the way he stopped arguably the best team in history in Pep’s Barcelona. Then went to Real Madrid and stopped Barcelona again, which felt like the impossible job, and wonLa Liga with the most goals scored in a season ever. Not mentioning bringing the prestige back in Europe forReal Madrid. They haven't progressed past the R16 in the last several seasons before he came. He reached 3consecutive CL Semi Finals and in 11-12 narrowly loston pens when Ronaldo, Kaka, and Ramos missed. It wasn't to be. Laid down the foundations for Madrid's dominance in the following years Returned to Chelsea and won the league, then went to United and finished second, and won 3 trophies with a United backline of Young, Jones, Smalling, Darmian/Valencia. We all know the internal problems he faced and it’s clear to everyone now that he wasn’t backed. Reached a final with Spurs that he didn’t play and at Roma he won a European trophy for the first time since 30 years for the club, and reached another Euro final a year later that he lost on pens when the referee decided Roma wouldn’t win that day. LEGEND of the sport

Its amazing how alot of people think Mourinho is arrogant but the confidence that he would instill in anyone playing for him or the club that he manages would be something that makes everyone reach their peak
Amazing insight to one of the most influential manager ever. I can clearly see that Mourinho is an incredible systems thinker. And absolutely agree that modern football journalism kills his career potential.
I love jose' he is among the GOATs of the game. yes managerial styles have changed a lot in the last couple of decades but Jose will always remain a pivot of the international club football. It's only a matter of time when he rediscoers his magic and refreshes himself. he still has got a lot to deliver. with some self assesment he will be back with a bang. How on earth were gonna win a CL with Bayern, Madrid and Barcelona at their absolute peaks with an aging squad and mediocre players. Mou could've won you some leaves and without a doubt hone far in Europe if he got the right players. 2013 Bayern were too strong, 2014 - 2020 was the Madrid, Atletico, MSN, Juve, Bayern era.... Man Utd were nowhere near that level
football isnt as straight as just seeing a team at face value or looking back now its easy but its difficult to explain this-Mourinho would never have been out of his depth at United with the right structure, maybe we dont win it but we would be challenging for titles. @@blaquenguni9249
Nah I don't think his style and United are a great match but but to say he didn't deliver a good 2nd season is crazy. Things fell apart once he didn't get his center backs from Juve. @@nev3rlo5t
I think we like to think Mourinho in 2013 would have been perfect...BUT we lost Gill & with Woodward he was an absolute clueless clown. We could have had SAF under Woodward & it would have been a mess. No one could work under Woodward...he was too arrogant...prioritised commercial over the team (he even stated as much), so unfortunately Mourinho would have still struggled. He performed a miracle to get 2nd place & win the europa with what he had to deal with. I love Mourinho...& maybe IF in 3 years we have a settled structure aligned & a strong squad in terms of talent & character...then id give him another crack at Utd....but at this time the club is in no shape for him to work how he needs. The other thing of critical importance if he was to someday return is whether his philosophy fits the clubs ideas & playing style - Mourinho likes to play with grit & control with strong characters who can take criticism but also strong enough to see their weaknesses & develop....if any of those ingredients are missing then his philosophy will be misaligned. Ultimately I wish we had all the necessary structures & players to have Mourinho return....but we don't & im still not convinced we will within the next 10 years. The damage Woodward, Judge, Arnold & the Glazers have caused is almost embedded now & it will take ineos, Berrada etc years to change it to what we once had under SAF. I also support ETH but he is in a similar position to Mourinho...he has no structures behind him & certainly not a strong enough squad...so he is having to go game by game & we can never achieve anything if we don't have competence, character & talent at every level. Sadly as much as i like ETH he like Mourinho is at Utd at the wrong time...& i very much doubt Ineos will start their reign with him leading us for the next 3-5 years....sadly i believe ineos will replace ETH with a new manager in the summer particularly if we dont make top 4. IF we make top 4 they may give him 1 more season max.
He has won so many trophies with different teams, he has proved to be one of the very top football managers ever. People keep trying to dismiss him saying that he has been sacked so many times, but how many teams have fully supported him? Only Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid have fully supported him and he has won the lot with these teams while the other teams that have failed him have ended up sacking him! United would have been back to its glory days had they not decided to back the players rather than Jose!
A joy to listen to. A thinking man who has repeated his success formula at many different clubs. I often wonder (rather like the Peter Taylor and Brian Clough partnership) if he would have had even greater success if he could have kept his Chelsea coaching team with him.
The biggest lesson at Roma Mourinho has learned is how to man manage this new younger generation. He needs to understand guys who grew up in the late 70s, 80s and 90s have now retired or are almost completely retired from the highest level... These kids are a different breed and it's a sink or swim culture, he has to adapt his management style to suit how this generation is. You'll never find someone as mentally tough as Essien or Lampard coz they came from THAT generation.
@@jedmpery891I think the difference is that the old knew that, even if they make it they’ll still have to work hard for it, and the new generation feel like when they make it they have a sense of entitlement, and can be inconsistent because they aren’t just stars on the pitch, but are social media stars as well. To be a true star in this generation you’ll need to be a little humble and self driven
@georgeyeboah7962 Yeah, that's a good observation. The players from the 80/90s weren't (for the most part) famous off the pitch. Football was everything. All players now, are paid crazy money and will in some respect have a few thousand (million) followers which must do strange things psychologically... I wonder what motivates the new generation on the pitch and what management styles work...
@@georgeyeboah7962I remember it was around 2010ish Rooney asked for 100k/week or he'd go to man city, and people thought he's crazy, nowadays you got kids who barely get to play making 100k+/week but have millions of followers on the internet, wtf would they give an f about working hard and doing well in football lol, if the coach criticized them anything will hurt their feels and cause them depression and they are considering retiring at age of 24 and the post got thousands of likes
I think Mourinho left his heart at Old Trafford. My man won a Charity Shield, Carabao Cup, and an Europa League title in his first season as Man United manager. Best achievements post-Fergie era. Dont forget to mention, he did that with Phil Jones, Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Smalling, Darmian, and an angry Luke Shaw at the back. The Roman Emperor, the Special One ❤

I really hope he will come back to the PL, he is so missed! He and Klopp are two special managers, i hope he will be back really fast. Legend and the special one.
Talking about complexities of a club, Jose made a very good point! Very few clubs have a proper organisation that works coherently, Real Madrid is one, Bayern and Man city can be others!
I want to see Jose in almost any job. The game needs him. From Bayern to the USMNT, I think he'd fix all the struggling teams and give them an identity while taking the pressure off the players
As a Madrid fan I have never forgotten when we lost 5-0 to Barcelona because after that day u changed how we play and since then in that season and the next one we almost had never lost to them again. Due to the Def& Counter attack which our team was the best at that time. Wish u the best always Jose!!! P.S> I become ur fan also after that match. ur football philosophy is as strong as a Rhino!

I'm a Roma fan, i felt too shocked by the news saying the Friedkins sacked Jose so sudden, this is for me the most painful losses of a Roma coach. I wasn't even sad when Capello left Roma for Juve 2 decades ago. But this one hits me really hard.
@@Al-oe7md talk about "buy" players, I respect Mourinho's great achievement, but on that aspect, I have a kind of feeling that Mourinho lacks in promoting young players. He loves pre-well-made players, rarely patiently nurturing a green talent. Well, in this time and age, which manager doesn't buy players, right? Such a fascinating mind. I've been watching the game for decades, to me Jose is the ultimate coach. When he speaks, I listen. Truly a special character.
Mourinho is a proper manager and love how he outlines RESPECT many times through out, something this generation of players have no idea about
I can’t bear watching this… not yet… I can’t even remember how long has passed since mourinho’s sacking but all we Roma fans loved him! He truly is the Special One 🥲
As a Roma fan my heart is broken and I will love him forever
Its amazing how alot of people think Mourinho is arrogant but the confidence that he would instill in anyone playing for him or the club that he manages would be something that makes everyone reach their peak
Unbelievable stuff fellas. Jose a king
Amazing insight to one of the most influential manager ever. I can clearly see that Mourinho is an incredible systems thinker. And absolutely agree that modern football journalism kills his career potential.
Jose Mourinho! Jose Mourinho! One of the best managers of all time, the special one! 👏
Great work lads, Jose is a legend 🇾🇪❤️
Jose is such a legend in the game. Love him!
Form is temporary class is always permanent. Always remember that. I love "JOSE".....Period!!!!!!!!!💞💌💓💗💖💝
Love how Ste was going to be nervous anyway and Jose didn’t want to answer his first question 😂
😂😂😂😂
Mind games. Rio is famous the fat guy I'd a nobody so you put him in his place 😂
Manspreading dominance displays at their finest 😂😂😂
@@virupakshawalla5734what? The guy is clearly hurting and doesn’t want to talk about it lol. No petty ego dominance play here.
@@MoonShine-o5n that wasn’t the point, mate
His an inspiration to me no matter what his managerial style is class
Roma non smetterà mai di amarti ♥️💛
Grazie di tutto mister
Man it would be great time for Mr. Mourinho to go Newcastle looking how they have improved and are at that peak stage of improvement. Wish he came next season cuz most English managers r mid-table best but not winners like him.
There’s no doubt about it, Jose’s Madrid and Pep’s Barca was the greatest time in football, the players, the fans, the media, the world stopped and we all watched!
I hated this guy when he was at Chelsea as an Arsenal fan,but kudus to him bcs I’m warm to him now since is no longer the pain winding us fans up through Arsene Wenger.Good story teller big up legend of the game
it was rough seeing it play out that way. I've been to the colosseum I know how many people showed up out side and around it to celebrate when he finally got us a trophy and we never win but he got us one.
I could never imagine any other manager leaving after winning the UCL like a boss other than Mourinho
Absolute Legend ❤❤
Mourinho is a top manager, always was, always will be. Winning titles with Porto, an aging Inter, a serial flopping Roma: THAT is class. Respect.
Must include winning something with the Post Fergie Graveyard United
The Conference League Cup
Let that sink in.
Thank you for this one Rio, im from Setúbal, hometown of Mou, he and his father Felix Mourinho are legends here, much love from Portugal 🇵🇹 Keep them coming
Chelsea NEED this guy now more than ever,he has the best mentality honestly, plus he actually shows emotion, not the passive robots the new owners have been going for
I really hope he goes back to Chelsea too.
He is returning to Chelsea, chelsea is part of Jose DNA.
@@martinkabinga4785 hope so. COYG
I don’t think so cause Roman isn’t there anymor3
Those madrid vs barca days, were something special, and every real madrid fan have a gratitude to mourihno to what madrid became after that.
5:40 - can see emotions in his eyes. Great manager.
Still one of my favorite managers of all time, so entertaining.
Respect for José Mourinho!
I could listen Josè talk all day. He is a charismatic personality.
Jose is a fascinating character, one of a kind. Looking forward to the rest of the interview!
Wish José was still United manager under a better structure. No doubt if José joined us in 2013 we would have 2-3 more leagues and a CL by now.
Everything is possible in hypotheticals. If, Ifs and buts would change the world
He has won so many trophies with different teams, he has proved to be one of the very top football managers ever.
People who dismiss him don't understand football. He is one of the top 3 managers of the last 25 years, no doubt.
Interesting. I’m 35 so part of the older generation. I wonder what defines the newer generation? Are they better or worse in some areas?
@@jedmpery891new generation are not mentally strong in all fields not just sports.
Mourinho manages teams that guys like Pep would never touch. Have to respect it
I would love to see him in the EPL again. A legendary manager!
Jose *Legend* should never of been sacked at mufc imo
what has mu won since mou was fired
Phenomenally Great News,
With Jose Mourinho all things are possible. I'm a life time fan of the special one.
I'm watching from Monrovia, Liberia west Africa.
One of the greats of the game, box office character. Hope he was one last ride at the big time and 1 last Champions League win in him maybe a tough ask but you never know
Thank you Mr. Mourinho from As Roma supporter, you remain in my heart. Strenght and honor mister....
Jose mourinho the GOAT!!
never was, never will
Really is a wonderful orator. Probably doesn’t want to be, but he’s an incredible pundit providing tremendous insight. Made for studio.
Awesome podcast Rio. Keep em coming
More to come!
Loved this exclusive from you Rio and Stephen. Jose to me is a legend in the game. a box-office manager he will always be in the conversation as one of the best managers to ever coach/man manage. I was gutted when utd sacked him. the best manager post Fergie imo.
I loved him at United, he made me feel like a winner again - shame that the board didn't back him
But they back Ten Hag go figure.
Mourinho is one of the best if not the best! All the best in your future endeavours. 🎉
I remember when Jose was at Chelsea the only fixture in the entire league I never felt united could cope against in the league almost impossible to break down and score against
I really hope he will come back to the PL, he is so missed! He and Klopp are two special managers, i hope he will be back really fast.
Legend and the special one.
Talking about complexities of a club, Jose made a very good point!
Very few clubs have a proper organisation that works coherently, Real Madrid is one, Bayern and Man city can be others!
Whoa! Dropping bomb here. Need to watch this later on today. Ste! I hope you got in some heavy questions.
Good job to hear such conversation with the special one.
This man will forever live rent-free in all football lovers' hearts.
I just love Jose Mourinho ❤ I feel like watching a blockbuster movie 🍿🎥
I want to see Jose in almost any job. The game needs him. From Bayern to the USMNT, I think he'd fix all the struggling teams and give them an identity while taking the pressure off the players
He is 61. He is an intense guy who has been at the highest level for 25 years really so I dont think he can grind like he could 15 years ago.
Huge interview boys
As a Madrid fan I have never forgotten when we lost 5-0 to Barcelona because after that day u changed how we play and since then in that season and the next one we almost had never lost to them again. Due to the Def& Counter attack which our team was the best at that time. Wish u the best always Jose!!!
P.S> I become ur fan also after that match. ur football philosophy is as strong as a Rhino!
Rio pulling the big interviews. Big up Rasta.
Great Interview lads. José is one of a kind. On my bucket list to interview for sure.
Kudos to the both of you amazing interview !!!
I can watch Jose talk all day. Love love him ❤❤
brilliant interview as always .. also love that you've taken on board the issues with the episodes on the interview with Mr Gill, great intros this time round!
Thanks for listening
Jose rome will always love you 💛❤ thank you for everything
Awesome 1st Part, Mourinho this guy has a passion for football and it‘s great he gives his view on certain things, structures, tactics, how players are. Bring on Part two asap 😂🙌🏼
Miss legends and passion managers like Mourinho.. him and Klopp are legends:)
I love this man so much
Batty boy
3 biggest achievements that first come to mind about Jose: winning La Liga with Real Madrid during Barcelona peak, winning UCL with Inter Milan and with Porto.
King Rio you have done many interviews on your channel and this one for me is the 'Special One' interview 😄 and also Jose is my Favorite Manager...
More to come!
Jose the legend and what a genuinely nice guy.
Less than a minute in and I know already this is one of my favourite UA-cam clips. Well done lads.
“Not one of the bottle”👑
Love Jose! Wrongfully pushed out of united! Legend in the game. Big up Five, very good interview !
Ste’s had the hairdryer out before this interview!
Also was fortunate to attend an Nordorf Robins football night which Jose was the guess speaker at, came across really well and very generous during the charity raffle!!!
Grande Mestre o Mourinho! Ainda tem mais uns títulos para ganhar.
Totally unrelated but the camera quality is top, lighting is worldclass and sound is legendary
I'm a Roma fan, i felt too shocked by the news saying the Friedkins sacked Jose so sudden, this is for me the most painful losses of a Roma coach.
I wasn't even sad when Capello left Roma for Juve 2 decades ago. But this one hits me really hard.
they didnt respect him and what he brought to the club 😢
They didn’t let him buy decent players
@@Al-oe7md talk about "buy" players, I respect Mourinho's great achievement, but on that aspect, I have a kind of feeling that Mourinho lacks in promoting young players. He loves pre-well-made players, rarely patiently nurturing a green talent.
Well, in this time and age, which manager doesn't buy players, right? Um, I don't know about that, especially statistics data compared to other managers, and it could be my jealousy because he was responsible for ending Arsenal's long undefeated season record, but that is my opinion (or just my silly feeling :D).
@@Anuitu2u facts
@@Anuitu2u In Roma (Roma fan talking here) he did really well with young players. many were sold to help the club's finances and others actually remained as valid alternatives to the best players.
So true about the Madrid Barca matches in that era. It was a true spectacle. It will be hard to recreate that time. Miss it.
