He's basically a rocker but can take up any genre, he likes to mix rock and rap in his songs, and he often writes a segment to let his fans sing with him, or the fans will sing the chorus and he'll rap on it, truly unique!. Hua Chen Yu is a mega super star in China! He is the only one who can sell out the "Bird's Nest" stadium in Beijing which holds up to 90K seats. He sold out in an hr and had to put on a second night - also sold out! He is super performer and Artist! He compose his song with his voice as an instrument...he has an incredible repertoire ! His Fandom is called Martians...and comparable to BTS's Army and Dimash's Dears...the parts where his vocals changes he is singing in the style of traditional Chinese Opera...you should check out his other performances in the Singer competion from 2018. He was on the program again in 2020(?)...he will blow you away!!

It's great to see a reaction to Hua Chenyu on your channel. I would have sent you the video with English subs though. He talks about martial arts and that nunchucks are his favorite weapon because they combine hardness with softness. That's what the song reflects by mixing hard rap/rock vocals with soft classical Chinese sounds.
Hua Chenyu is known for his intense stage performances and genre-defying musical composition and arrangement skills.
The original song is a rap song and Hua Chenyu rearranged it within two days and created this amazing genre mix. He is extremely versatile and a true artist who doesn't care about winning a competition. It's all about expressing himself. Vocal coaches are not always happy with the distortions he makes with his voice and it might not always be the healthiest way of singing but for him it's all about the performance.
His songs have ranged in styles from rap, rock, pop, reggae, musical theatre, classical, Chinese opera, folk, indie, ballads etc.
On his first audition on the show "Super Boy" in 2013 he performed his own lyricless song, basically just producing sounds with his voice while playing the keyboard. As he said he sings in "Mars language". His fans are called "Martians" and he regularly gives "Mars concerts" in China which are sold out in seconds.
During the 2018 "Singer" competition he also performed his own songs like "Qi Tian" (= "Equal to Heaven") which got the highest rating in this contest if I remember correctly. You should check it out and also his artistic rendition of the song "Fake Monk".

I'd love to see what you think of his song "Seven Personalities" it's another rollercoaster of a track, but then in my mind, Hua Chenyu hasn't made any bad songs per-se and his composing/arranging techniques are pretty unique too

His family name is spelled H U A (the U is first) and his personal name ends with Y U (not A). Please continue reacting to him. He switches genres easily and is full of surprises.😁

I don't even have this in my own Top 50 Hua Hua Performances. 😲 😂 He sings every genre from Rock, Metal, Rap, Ballads, Pop, SynthPop, Chinese Reggae, Broadway, Traditional Chinese and others he invents as he goes along. Prolific Composer/music Arranger and multi Multi instrumentalist. You should check out Hua Chenyu English Subs Channel. It has so many of his performances subbed by fans. They also have Concert Performances which are safer to view than TV Shows. Let us know what style you like and he WILL have done it. 😲 Try Dust in the Fireworks, Jackdaw Boy, Aliens, 7 Personalities, Flight Mode, Flight Commander (all available on Concert performances with subs). His "art masterpiece" is Fake Monk from Singer 2018.

His own songs are masterful, Qi Tian, Quasimodo's gift, Madhouse, Bullfight, Seven personalities, Black and white artists, Ashes from fireworks, Giant deer, Aliens, among them. He can also rearrange songs and make fabulous versions like Child (gorgeous!) or Fake Monk (interesting performance). I wish You continue to know Hua Hua 💖.
Welcome to Hua Chenyu! Did you say your background is in production? You're right, Singer is very well produced. Lighting, musicians, video editing, everything is high quality. But they're very picky about copyright. Continue to use filters.👍 It's safer to react to concerts, and his 2021 concert videos are well produced. They built an incredible stage! In his older concert videos, the sound is not as clear, and the recording is often from fan cams. Appreciated by fans, not so good for reactors. In Singer 2018, his own songs were "Qi Tian" and "I Don't Care." Both are still very popular in China, and you'll probably like them. In Singer 2020, I think you'll enjoy "Jackdaw Boy" and "Bullfighting." In both of them, lighting adds to the storytelling in interesting ways. Whatever songs you choose, I hope you continue discovering him! I subscribed for the journey.

The video with English subtitles was taken down, but you'll know what's going on. Remember to put a filter over the video.
