People at school made fun of my drawings, ever since I've hid them, that was 2 years ago I've immensely improved and am now the best artist 🎨 in my class, and show off my drawings. People ask how I did it, one word, Practice

What always happens to me is I get the face 100 percent perfect (not literally, but you get the point) and then I make the hair look like a freakin' muffin. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY ABILITIES TO DRAW HAIR?!??!
Just incorporate the favorite traits of those anime characters and place them into your own character. I hate that moment when you have artist's block and your forced to do that but it's okay lool.
It doesn't have to be identical. Nobody is symmetrical as it is. Just use the same guide lines, and the same proportions, to get the same sort of idea. Drawing them slightly different actually looks a bit better, I think.

probably just a proportion issue, it's always been the most difficult when it comes to anime and cartoons in general, it May help to practice different realistic headshapes, try drawing some people around you each day, once you get used to it simplifying to anime and cartoon will be a breeze, I have a drawing video on UA-cam it may help you, my channel is yunyuncat, if that doesn't help then I hope the comments prior helps
I cant possibly thank you enough for this video, it's one of the only videos that has ever helped me draw, let alone something manga or anime. I remember 4 years ago when I was watching this video, and struggling to draw this! This really helped me earlier on when I was so so so confused about everything and didn't have anywhere to start from. Looking back, I've improved so much since then, and to anyone like I was in the past; no matter how hard you think it is, just keep trying and you'll make it! Started drawing since I was seven, I just took it has a hobby and I was very into it. I'm currently 14, turning 15 on December 17th.. I can't say that my drawings are at the point where I would call it amazing but it's decent I guess haha 😂😂 Seeing all the comments complaining about how they couldn't draw a part of the face and just gave up is really heartbreaking, she (the creator of this drawing) didn't just pratice for an hour she took YEARS AND YEARS of pratice to acheive what she is now. But some people complain after 1 day of drawing/praticing 😞

Twenty Minutes Fly By. you finish your circle and it looks more like an oval than a circle. you look up. you see they spent two seconds and they already made a perfect circle. 2. Make Lines Across your circle. 5 minutes fly by. you barely made one line and its crooked. you look up and see they've made all they're lines and they're perfect. you stare at the screen wanting to punch it. _-_ 3. Make the chin as best you can. 15 Minutes Fly by taunting you. you finish the chin. it looks like an upside-down triangle. you look up with red eyes to give the screen a cold glare. you see they made a perfect chin. next thing you know, flames are coming out of your head. you resist the urge to punch your computer screen. 4. Draw Eyes! You draw two circles and a dot in each of them. you're proud of your perfect circles and dots. you look up. they have the natural-manga-looking eyes. you look down at yours again. you see you're eyes look like donuts compared to their eyes. you look down about to cry. 5. Draw the nose and the mouth. 10 Minutes Desperately try to escape. you look at your final finished nose and mouth. your nose looks like an upside-down heart. your mouth looks more like an upside down sausage rather than a smile. 6. Draw the neck!! 2 minutes fly outside your window with your 10 minutes writing H E L P M E on your window. 2 minutes ignore it and spreads its wings. you finish. you're proud for drawing it perfect. you look up and see yours looks just like the ones they drew. you smile and tilt you chair back laughing. you fall back and lift a hand in the air and say "Im okay!" you get up and resume. 7. Draw the hair, Imma Speed up, but catch up!!! 35 Minutes Fly By 150 Miles per hour. you finally finish your hair. you accept your hair even when it just looks like lines poking out of the head. 8. You've finished. you look at theirs. you look back your own. you look back at theirs. you color your finished product. you show it to your mom. you compare yours to the one on the screen. your mom says "Not even close." you stand there in shame. you let 10 minutes out the window. he says "IIMMMMM FREEEEEEE" you throw the paper away. you restart. and so a new journey begins.

There is a youtuber that helped me to draw guys. I think the channel's name was Learn2DrawManga or something. By the way, I'm not saying that she's bettrr than Shopie. I feel like her tutorials are simple yet very helpful.

How did hers turn out so great? Well mine kinda sucks... Anyone could help give me pointers. Like is it necessary to use different kinds of Pencil with different tones of darkness or can we just use a plain old 2B pencil? I'm like a 13 year old so I can't afford much other than a paper and a pencil but I really want to try drawing manga so please anyone?
Just a normal pencil will do. I prefer to use automatic pencil because you can see the lines more clearly. You just need pencil for better shadings. And don't worry, just draw a few more times and you can draw better too :)

Just a pointer, If you get a lot of smudges on your hand or on your art from your hands you can always tear off a small piece of paper and place that under your hand while you draw.
For everyone who is discouraged by their failures of drawing anime males: Remember that Sophie-Chan took her a great amount of time to have the ability to draw these beautiful illustrations. Simply because you are unable of drawing an anime boy doesn't mean you should give up. Take your drawing seriously, correct any sort of mistakes and make sure to not create them again, - backtrack of what you have done in that previous error and do not repeat it - and then the most important thing: TIME. Time is essential in creating a beautiful artistic design like Sophie-Chan. I too experienced the same thing, and have been rather impatient with my drawings. When i came to realize that i was required patience, i did so and was amazingly pleased with the result of my drawing. Never forsake your passion in drawing an anime character. All that is necessary is TIME.

Everyone has different drawing style :) it depends on how you visualize. Some people can visualize the face after drawing the outline of face but some wants the features out before drawing the face. As long as the drawing ends up like how you expect, any drawing style is just as good :) it's a habit to cultivate.
For me it's kind of confusing following along, since I'm left handed, I can't really get the hang of it!! :( Thanks for the video though, it really helped me a lot!! :)

I know this is an year old, but here's a tip: don't make both eyes separately. Make both of them together in steps, maintaining symmetry.

When i try this , i draw one eye perfect , and the other is not even close like the other...

Started drawing since I was seven, I just took it has a hobby and I was very into it. I'm currently 14, turning 15 on December 17th.. I can't say that my drawings are at the point where I would call it amazing but it's decent I guess haha 😂😂
Seeing all the comments complaining about how they couldn't draw a part of the face and just gave up is really heartbreaking, she (the creator of this drawing) didn't just pratice for an hour she took YEARS AND YEARS of pratice to acheive what she is now. But some people complain after 1 day of drawing/praticing 😞

step 1: draw a circle that I make so perfect you spend 15 minutes on yours
step 2: make lines n shit
step 3: draw eyes that will never be as good as mine
Step 4: make some fierce eyebrows
Step 5: go into meticulous detail about the eyebrows
Step 6: do the nose and mouth so small you need a magnifying glass to see them
Step 7: do the neck
Step 8: now to the hair watch as I speed it up so you have no time to draw it and then uhhhh fuck you

For Some Reason, mine looks like its a pervert and staring at something hes not supposed to. well.. i clearly made the eyes too big. i guess i can accept the hair. even tho it looks like he just came back from the lions cage. ._. odd? meh. its normal.. right?
Sometimes i watch professionals draw and im like. okay. i got the steps. so... this?
1. Draw a Circle. Doesnt have to be perfect! just try your best. Twenty Minutes Fly By. you finish your circle and it looks more like an oval than a circle. you look up. you see they spent two seconds and they already made a perfect circle.
2. Make Lines Across your circle. 5 minutes fly by. you barely made one line and its crooked. you look up and see they've made all they're lines and they're perfect. you stare at the screen wanting to punch it. _-_
3. Make the chin as best you can. 15 Minutes Fly by taunting you. you finish the chin. it looks like an upside-down triangle. you look up with red eyes to give the screen a cold glare. you see they made a perfect chin. next thing you know, flames are coming out of your head. you resist the urge to punch your computer screen.
4. Draw Eyes! You draw two circles and a dot in each of them. you're proud of your perfect circles and dots. you look up. they have the natural-manga-looking eyes. you look down at yours again. you see you're eyes look like donuts compared to their eyes. you look down about to cry.
5. Draw the nose and the mouth. 10 Minutes Desperately try to escape. you look at your final finished nose and mouth. your nose looks like an upside-down heart. your mouth looks more like an upside down sausage rather than a smile.
6. Draw the neck!! 2 minutes fly outside your window with your 10 minutes writing H E L P M E on your window. 2 minutes ignore it and spreads its wings. you finish. you're proud for drawing it perfect. you look up and see yours looks just like the ones they drew. you smile and tilt you chair back laughing. you fall back and lift a hand in the air and say "Im okay!" you get up and resume.
7. Draw the hair, Imma Speed up, but catch up!!! 35 Minutes Fly By 150 Miles per hour. you finally finish your hair. you accept your hair even when it just looks like lines poking out of the head.
8. You've finished. you look at theirs. you look back your own. you look back at theirs. you color your finished product. you show it to your mom. you compare yours to the one on the screen. your mom says "Not even close." you stand there in shame. you let 10 minutes out the window. he says "IIMMMMM FREEEEEEE" you throw the paper away. you restart. and so a new journey begins.

How did hers turn out so great? Well mine kinda sucks... Anyone could help give me pointers. Like is it necessary to use different kinds of Pencil with different tones of darkness or can we just use a plain old 2B pencil? I'm like a 13 year old so I can't afford much other than a paper and a pencil but I really want to try drawing manga so please anyone?
Just a normal pencil will do. I prefer to use automatic pencil because you can see the lines more clearly. You just need pencil for better shadings. And don't worry, just draw a few more times and you can draw better too :)

Just a pointer, If you get a lot of smudges on your hand or on your art from your hands you can always tear off a small piece of paper and place that under your hand while you draw.

For everyone who is discouraged by their failures of drawing anime males:
Remember that Sophie-Chan took her a great amount of time to have the ability to draw these beautiful illustrations. Simply because you are unable of drawing an anime boy doesn't mean you should give up.
Take your drawing seriously, correct any sort of mistakes and make sure to not create them again, - backtrack of what you have done in that previous error and do not repeat it - and then the most important thing: TIME.
Time is essential in creating a beautiful artistic design like Sophie-Chan. I too experienced the same thing, and have been rather impatient with my drawings. When i came to realize that i was required patience, i did so and was amazingly pleased with the result of my drawing.
Never forsake your passion in drawing an anime character. All that is necessary is TIME.
Omg! It was so easy to learn. Because of you, I finally learned how to draw. Thank you so much Sophie for this tutorial video. I hope you'll keep posting more. ☺

Everyone has different drawing style :) it depends on how you visualize. Some people can visualize the face after drawing the outline of face but some wants the features out before drawing the face. As long as the drawing ends up like how you expect, any drawing style is just as good :) it's a habit to cultivate.
