Though it was Steven's idea to steal it to replace her, it malfunctioning and attacking Steven is his own fault for provoking it. As well as Coercion for forcing Lapis to fuse with her. and then ANOTHER for attempting to crush the Crystal Gems with a wave. Luckily, Lapis took control before Jasper could pull off the latter.
