I love the things Chyna picked with you. It's not difficult to style, high-maintenance or really different from what you had. It's just slightly nicer and more thought-through items that easily work together. This might be my favourite wardrobe make-over video on UA-cam.

"That's the problem with having nice things, you have to care about them." - Craig 2023.

When i was little my parents had a raggedy old couch that we could jump on with shoes and nobody cared and you would sink into the cushions because it was so worn out. I never understood why mom just had to get a boring new couch that you weren't even allowed to jump on.

For those of us that grew up with our parents taking us to Sears to buy most of our new clothes, I think what we really need is a grown up and cooler version of Garanimals. Match like tags and it magically works! This would solve most of the challenges non-shopper adults have today with their wardrobes.

This is really life changing. I didn't care about clothes before, just like you, but it changes you and how other people look at you and how you feel. It makes you look younger.
One remark for the final touch:
After your clothes, think about your hair. Keep it well groomed.
Especially your hair on your head makes you look like an old man (I have the same problem). Keep it short and shaven, will make you look younger, especially with your new clothes.

I went shopping with my brother last week as his birthday present. First we went through his current wardrobe and had to throw away 1/4th of the clothes because they were so old or had holes in them, a lot more clothes we gave to goodwill.
I also went the route of a capsule wardrobe! Very basic clothes, jeans, dress pants, sweathers, tshirts etc all very neutral + that you can combine with anything so my brother doesn't have to worry about fashion. I never make him buy something he's not sure about or is too much out of his comfort zone because he'll just never wear it
It's nice to see him wear those clothes every day, it's a job well done!

what you can definitely see comparing your younger self with your current self is the amount of self care. Which can translate to looking younger or older especially when actually getting older. I feel like from 30 upwards it makes a big difference in apparent age how much one cares about health. Alcohol, unhealthy eating habits and smoking let one age dramatically. And at the same time people can "turn back time" switching to healthier life styles.
All in all I would agree that you look way way healthier than in your old videos and maybe even a bit younger.
You and your strive to be your best self and getting out of your comfort zone are inspiring! :)

For example, taking a flannel shirt and wearing it over a t-shirt and jeans unbuttoned (the shirt, not the jeans 👀 😅).
Then the final step is accessories if you are so inclined 😁

I have just done the same things just recently, purchased new clothes, mostly because I've been broke for so long. I purchased nice new jeans, button ups and really nice sneaks. I have a HUGE torso and always broke that up with a graphic tee shirt. It needed to change. It does make me feel good about myself wearing nicer fitting clothes. Most recent I changed from long, past the knee shorts, to above the knee! Who knew I had sexy man legs!? I do have to disagree with Chyna about the pajama/jogging pants. I don't go out of the house in jogging pants or gym shorts ever. Maybe on the way home from the gym If I need gas but otherwise NOPE. Pajamas.

I agree with you that it's silly that we have to be concerned about how we look, BUT I will also say that you look spiffy in your new clothes!

This was actually helpful for me, a woman who has little to no idea what is currently in style, but has (slowly) figured out what looks good on me in terms of color and fit. This year I am trying to figure out my wardrobe, as many of my pieces are wearing out, and my career has changed to a point where I'm definitely keeping clothing I will never wear again. I want to end up with a really easy wardrobe that fits well and goes between something I could wear at home and still feel good enough to run a quick errand or answer the door, and a few pieces I could dress up in. I set a budget, and I'm buying pieces slowly.

SAME!!! UGH!!!!! I'm 40, newly single, 100% of the time solo parent of 4 kids. I've for sure got job interviews down the line and a new life to start - possibly making new friends (because the old ones didn't exist - abuse and control means no friends for me) ANYWAY! THANK YOU! I'm slowly starting to care. I do care ish. Part of it for me is valuing myself. Going from being a piece of property in a house to being a living breathing human who is worthy of self care/ mediocre ish clothing is CRAZY.
    HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

I love the shirts! Just a suggestion (turned into a long comment, excuse me) - you might find seasonal color analysis useful if you want an easy-to-combine capsule wardrobe, I certainly did. Color analysis has a bit of a horoscope vibe around it, but don't let that get to you :) It's about the way colors interact with the natural colors of your features (just btw, it's based on actual science, color theory, which is all about the harmony or contrast of color wavelengths).
I found it super useful because I always wanted a low maintenance, just put it on and go type of wardrobe, but I was often very unhappy with how clothes looked on me. I was trying to wear colors I perceived as safety colors, but they made me look tired and I didn't feel confident in them. On the contrary, now I wear things and don't really have to put on makeup (I know, not an issue for you) and have some innate confidence about my wardrobe, because I know why I'm wearing specific items together.
So yeah, I think many of these items are perfectly in your lane (you're almost definitely a summer, trust me, I do this for money :D) and I think that's part of why you'll gravitate to them on the long term! Checking the summer color season might help you understand how to create easy combinations.
Yay for having fun with body-related stuff and enjoying stuff! Been following you forever and I'm really happy you're in this great space now. And kudos to Chyna for the great stylin'!

that shirt you said not fully sold on i love it maybe its the pattern on it day 1s looked like a hawaii shirt but with honey comb shapes instead of flowers
i love hawaiian shirts and flower pattern ones
i know a lot of people who wear lounge wear as pajama pants so i say either one works i call all the pants like that sweat pants
i do not see them as sleep wear or day wear just how somebody feels like using them

I helped my partner realise that they do in fact have fashion opinions in the last year or two! They love bright colours and comfort over style, and I think society tells you that those aren't valid opinions to have... But I'm like "let's lean into it!! Your favourite tee is tie-die, let's get you more tie-dye!" And "you love bright pants! Let's try to find them in all your favourite colours at the op-shop!". I did buy them some new magenta corduroy pants though cause they LOVE magenta. Now they look at their clothes and get excited about wearing them :~)
(I also got them into buying slightly expensive underwear because I bought them a couple of pairs for Christmas and then they realised how much better they were than the cheapest possible brand 😅)
