To me, Ginger (Kim Lankford) was believable as someone who wrote a song about her husband and singing it to her husband; it had so much more emotion. But, I must say that I loved every song that Ciji/Cathy sang on the show, she could sing everything so well...
Totally, the pace and writing was all character based. Season 4 in particular does not feature a life or death finale, very unusual for soaps of that time, yet it’s one of the most memorable for me in soap history
Boy, do I remember watching this episode back in the day. Have to say, I liked Ciji's version way better. But liked the audience's reactions during Ginger's: Laura fuming and storming away. Karen bristling at Chip and Diana's nauseating billing and cooing. Don't kiss that hand, Diana- it was just around Ciji's throat! I like the complete season 4 closing theme on this video.
One of the best\shocking cliffhangers ever!!! That set off the roller coaster ride that was to be the next season!!! Knots Landing was a staple on Thursday nights at my parents house. We would all sit around and watch in anticipation!!! Loved it then and I would love to own it on DVD now!!!
@@daviddemarco8327 It was the original cliffhanger..At the last minute CBS ordered 2 or more episodes to end with Gary in jail for cliffhanger 83.. xd That was the same over on Dallas when Sue Ellen's car crash was the original cliffhanger .. Again Cbs ordered more episodes to bring it to 30 episodes to end with the Southfork fire..xd
@@MrCraigblaze Thanks for letting me know this. I think I'd heard this before (regarding "Knots"), but didn't know about "Dallas" lengthening its season and that they'd had Sue Ellen's accident as the orginal concept for the cliffhanger. Going back to "Knots", though, I think it would've been far more effective having that season end with Ciji's body washing ashore than having Gary end up in jail.
@@daviddemarco8327 Yes on Dallas the show was consernrd that Dynasty was catching up to them in the ratings so they ordered more episodes ending in the fire ..To match the fire on Dynasty.. XD
I prefer Ciji's voice & subtle sweet singing style to Ginger's loud singing and boisterous style. BUT, I will say that these are two different moments so therefore each was probably directed differently. Follow: In Ciji's case, her singing the song more mellow and laid back as if it were no big deal singing a new song from Kenny, only serves to drive the knife further in Ginger's back. Creating that tension. Whereas with Ginger's performance, this was her make-it-or-break-it moment so she sang the hell out of that song! So both were winners when it came to serving their storylines!
I LOVE both of them! I think this is one of the best moments and storylines of «Knots Landing». One of the best episodes in the entire show. MANY THANKS FOR SHARING‼
I remember seeing that season finale of Knots Landing 😢 And that is when I found out the power of the people in the age of pre-Internet, no Facebook, no emails... All we had to protest and express our outrage about Ciji's death was calling or mailing a letter to the Network. And that is exactly what happened. The following season Ciji Dunn became lookalike Cathy Geary for two more seasons of Lisa Hartman. ✨🙏🏼🌹🎤
I don't think it's a matter of better. They both had their own style. Shit, I like both versions. But it does seem like Kim is trying harder than Lisa. It seemed like it flowed easier for Lisa. But then again, Ciji was supposed to be a professional singer and Ginger was an elementary school teacher. So it fits their characters.
Well, Ginger and Kenny were written off the show and Lisa Hartman came back by popular demand by the fan's. She returned as look alike CijI Cathy Geary . She stayed for a couple of year's until she to was written off the show making the way for Nicolette Sheridan as Paige.
oh boy I remember how naïve and gullible Diane was, she went through the extremes to protect Chip the murderer, it got so bad Lillimae had to step in or shall I say drive in and into that bastard for killing Ciji.
I’ve been watching the series again from beginning to end, currently on season 5 together with Falcon Crest. I loved the US soaps back then, this kind of show of missing from the schedules these days. Loved both ladies singing this song
The hands-down most eerie, sad & suspenseful moment in ALL of the 14 seasons of "Knots Landing". Kim Lankford blew Lisa Hartman out of the water with "Ginger's" rendition of "You're The One". LOVED Lisa Hartman, but, but Ginger supplied more talent and a deeper understanding of the song that she, herself, wrote. But, wow.....Kim had a greater vocal range. Glad to see both Kenny and Jeff Munson giving Ginger kudos for her talented performance....But to see Ciji washed ashore after the song...damn. It was so damned ominous (the chords & the sinister feel). Ciji sure didn't deserve such a tagic outcome. :-(
GINGER SANG IT BEST! Wow..... Ciji was good, but geeze…Ginger's high notes, the throaty & haunting rendition were TOPS! Wish I could buy or download the audio recording. (And by the way, Kenny was gorgeous!)
I have searched for years for a copy of Kim Lankford's " EVERY NOW AND THEN I THINK ABOUT YOU" from "STREET CORNER JUSTICE". It was the theme song of that movie but no I can't find a cut of it anywhere. Several songs have the same name but Kim's is special, she wrote it and sang it in that movie.
I come back to this song all of the time. I like Ginger's version better. It seems more genuine and personal. I have been trying to find her version somewhere to download. Thtime. one of my fave TV moments of all rime.
Ciji version is better, and she would have been more marketable in the music industry than Ginger. I wished that KL would have pitted Ginger and Ciji to a music challenge in the 5th season, but both characters were gone by then.
Sadly, from what I have read, the music copyright to so much of the soundtrack used in the series, is creating most of the problem with getting it released

Season 4-6 is a masterclass of how to do a primetime soap.
Educate me on this sometime, I am interested in your thoughts.

@@campgalore. I watched it every week!
I remember the audience being so pissed off at the writers for killing Ciji.
But at least Lisa Hartman came back as Cathy Geary in season 5.
Ginger’s scenes are actually beautifully shot, and could hold up against todays TV shows that have film level budgets.

Ginger vocals as she tried to live up to the audience better than cijis performance.
I love Lisa Hartman, I wished she had pursed her music career, she would have been successful.
My wife would have killed me at the table. Kenny was lucky. Ginger was way too nice to him.

Lisa is just singing the song.... Kim is FEELING it.

David DeMarco spot on! It would have been interesting if they had kept Ginger for the next season
Why the song was never published. Such a beautiful song
I randomly had this song stuck in my head today.
Lisa Hartman Black....Got this!!!!

David DeMarco it’s a pity they never released this song!
Kenny! He hot AF
Well it's kind of hard to determine when we didn't get to hear the entire song from Ciji. I think Ciji version would have been better.
I have searched for years for a copy of Kim Lankford's " EVERY NOW AND THEN I THINK ABOUT YOU" from "STREET CORNER JUSTICE".

I had ti byy Street Corner Justice, It's the closing song. But when I used to see her perform, she did it BETTER in person !!!!
to buy !!!
Ginger did it better, and btw I still think of this creepy scene sometimes when I see the ocean at night.
That was the point. ??😂
I think they both did a great job. Ginger looked pissed because Ciji was singing her song. You can hear the anger in her voice.
I think Ciji sang it better to the ear but Gingers voice was much more sexy. If I had to choose. Gingers version would be my choice
Cijii’s the best version!
Sorry 😔 Ginger vocals out did cijis she nailed every range of her voice to a tee.
I think Ginger did a better job than Ciji, but then I can’t figure out what the hell kind of name is Ciji? (Watch the 200th episode special).
The same as someone using just first initials to pronounce someone's name as a short ciji might stood for Casey Jessica dunne.
Lisa Hartman did pursue her career.not everyone thought she was a good enough singer.unfortunately.I agree she was great.
I come back to this song all of the time. I like Ginger's version better. It seems more genuine and personal. I have been trying to find her version somewhere to download. Thtime. one of my fave TV moments of all rime.
Ciji Ciji Ciji

Ginger was a beauty and Kenny a creep. 😂
5:25 I wonder if that was the cliff that Sid drove off of
what is the title of the song?
"Your the one " I believe ??
I loved ciji
This is what led to Ginger being a suspect in The murder of Ciji Dunne
Lisa Hartman💚Ginger 💓 Kenny 💙trés belle chanson magnifique chanson ❤️ d'amour j'adore l'écouter i Love you 😘😍😎💚 France ❤️😘
♥♥♥
Lisa Hartman-Black sung it best.In other words, Ciji sung it best.
I think someone else did the vocals for ;Ginger? Anyone else think so?
Ciji is being washed up on the beach
💙 ABBY 💙 PAIGE 💙 GREG 💙 OLIVIA 💙 LINDA FAIRGATE 💙 KAREN 💙 MAC 💙 THE BEST 💙
Mega 80s hair Abby 🤣
Ciji/Lisa Hartman sung it way better than Ginger did.
❤️💙💜🧡
Ginger won that round
Ginger
Why isn’t the entire series available on DVD? 🤯😒
Sadly, from what I have read, the music copyright to so much of the soundtrack used in the series, is creating most of the problem with getting it released
@@campgalore I guess we can just hope, and keep checking.
La voix de Lisa Hartman était bien plus belle !!!!
Kenny looks a little like Ryan Reynolds
Only Kenny's better looking
Can't believe Ginger killed Ciji just for this song.
Have you even seen this show ? Chip Killed Ciji
Ciji.....all the way!!!!!!
Sandra Bernhard did it best.
hahaha
Ginger was way better...haunting.
😨 SORRY NEITHER ONE OF THOSE WOMEN CUT THE MUSTARD WHEN IT CAME TO SINGING 😃 PLEASE NO HATE MAIL LOL 😅😅😅😅😅😅💛
Ginger was boring dolt. Glad both were kicked off.
